Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Brenner Mahoney and Nadi Fujioka
What: You tell me and we'll both know.
When: Wednesday afternoon
Where: In the mean streets of Philadelphia (in the Aldi nearest Drexel. Come on.)
Rating/Warnings: Low to PG13/Warning for excessive amounts of incomprehensible Geordie speech from Brenner. I'm not going to translate because half you'll get from context, and the other half, well. The language barrier is sort of the point of this thread :P

Brenner felt good. He might only get one summer holiday while he was at Drexel, but he felt like he'd made the most of it. Today, for example, he had rolled out of bed around ten, played around on his computer for a couple of hours, and then had lunch. After the laziness of the morning, he felt like he was in the mood to accomplish something, so he got dressed (polo shirt and khakis. His mother might not be there to see him, but she was there in his head) and combed his hair neatly, and ventured outside the house.

Honestly, he didn't really go out with an agenda outside of walking a ways and seeing where he ended up. His shoes were comfortable, his tunes were good and his day was free, so he wandered down to campus, picked up the books he would need for the coming year, and wandered back to his apartment, where he dropped them off. Then he started thinking about what he wanted for dinner. A trip to the supermarket was in order, he decided, and left the apartment once more to head to the Aldi he'd found near his place shortly after moving in.

With no particular plan, he grabbed a trolley and started moving up and down the aisles, lazily grabbing things as they caught his eye. It was interesting just looking at all the packages of unfamiliar food. He'd told himself he try new things, at least a couple a week, so he tossed in a couple of bags of sweets that he'd never tasted before. He was in no hurry. He had no commitments today, no place to be, and Beau, as far as he knew, wouldn't be home, let alone expecting him. He turned the trolley, leaning on the handlebar, and started to work his way around again.

He handed her a soda and grabbed one for himself, popping the top and taking a sip. Cautiously, he sat down beside her. "Nine? There's a geet walla family an' all. I don't have any brothers or sisters, just me mam. She's back home in Newcastle."

He studied her face, and felt himself blushing a little. She really was a very pretty girl.

"Your turn to ask something," he prodded gently. "And, erm..." He looked down at his lap, away from her face. "I divven' know much about kissin' girls. Only kissed a couple and they kissed'us first. And you want to marry'us an' all..." He shrugged helplessly. "You'll have to help'us out, I mean."

Opening the can and taking a sip, she chuckled and nodded."Yep,there's a whole burrow of us. Most of the town we live in back home is related to us too."Because rabbits bred like mad, even shifter rabbits. "That must be nice too though, you get all the attention from your mom, but I've never heard of Newcastle to be honest."

"Hmmmm, Any relationship or significant others I should be worried about?" Though his question mostly answered that when he spoke about kissing. Nadi offered him a warm smile again and shook her head. "Dont worry about it. I am more than happy to help you out there. We can practice any time you want.":

"Do they really live in a burrow?" he blurted before he could stop himself. Then he grinned sheepishly, trying to turn the conversation away from his little faux pas and back toward the conversation and her question.

"Never had a girlfriend," he confirmed. "Um... I'm guessing you don't have a boyfriend?"

"No, it's the nickname for the town." She chuckled. "Most of the town I live in is full of rabbit shifters. So it's aptly called the burrow." Nadi didn't call him out on the question though and instead gave him a warm smile to reassure him that she wasn't upset by it.

"Really?" That surprised her. He looked like someone should've grabbed him up early. "Nope. I'm free as a bird... well was before you." Because there was no going back. This was her man and that was going to be that. " So you're in college?"

"Well, I mean... I was only a lad back in Newcastle - that's in the North East of England, by the way - and then I packed me bags and came here. And... I think I'm a bit nerdy, if you want the truth."

Because he was going to have to tell her the nerdiest thing about him now. "I'm, erm, I'm at Drexel. Second year, when classes start up again. I'm studying... Computing and Security Technology." If she didn't run screaming from the nerdiness of that, he could bust out a little more, perhaps.

And there she went again, talking about how they were meant to be together. It was starting to grown on him, slowly. He was letting himself think about how it might be. Shyly, he looked up at her, and shifted a little closer.

"I've never been to England so that's pretty cool though. I actually spent most of my youth in Japan. My father's Japanese and my mother's american." She gave a small half shrug. English was the second language in her family, but spoken simultaneously in the house so her accent wasn't that strong.

"I don't nerdy at all, and that sounds like quite the major. I'm impressed. I'm a music major myself." She said as she finally slid the violin case from her back and put it down beside her. 'Violinist." As he scooted closer, she shifted as well, keeping her smile warm and attempting not to bounce as she did as well.

"And I've never been to Japan. What are the odds that we'd both end up here in Philadelphia?" He laughed, but she was shifting closer, and suddenly he didn't feel like talking anymore. He felt like seeing if she was as into this as she said she was.

He leaned in, pressing his lips to hers quickly, softly. It was an impulse, a whim, but it felt nice and he thought maybe he'd like to do it again... but he would wait to see how she responded first.

"Surprisingly small, but I'm glad we both have." She winked at him and blushed a little as she realized just how close he was to her. He was moving closer and she was excited to see just what he had in mind. So when he leaned down to capture her lips, she was quick to return the kiss.

It was a surprise just how right it felt. Nadi had always assumed that kisses were mostly the same, but this one had to be the best, or maybe it was just that she wanted it to be and thus it was. When they pulled back, she was blushing lightly and smiling shyly up at him. "So, sold on the idea of us yet?"

She kissed him back! Brenner's lips curved in kind of a goofy grin as they pulled back.

"I should say that it's too soon to tell," he said, "but who am I to fight this destiny thing? So... I suppose I'll just say, d'you fancy going out for dinner with me?"

That grin on his face had to be the most adorably attractive thing that Nadishiko had ever seen. So far, it looked like this was going to work out incredibly well.

"I think I would love to go out to dinner with you Brenner. Any place you'd like to go?" If not, she knew a few great restaurants that played live music that she loved.

"There's a lovely wee fish chip shop back home I'd love to take ye," Brenner said with a wistful laugh. "Ol' Neville's a propa canny radgie, and his hinny Barb is about the sweetest woman on earth, apart from me mam that is. But since I can't take ye doon the Toon, there's a nice wee Italian place around the corner. D'ye like Italian?"

He stood, walking over to his bedroom. He left the door open so they could still talk, and shed his polo shirt on the way in. From his closet he pulled a nicer, long sleeved button down shirt in sky blue, and a navy blue tie patterned with tiny white diamonds. He shrugged into the shirt, slung the tie around his neck, and walked back out still buttoning himself up.

"I reckon I look propa for a dinner with a beautiful lass now," he said with a lopsided grin as he finished buttons and deftly tied the tie. "Shall we?"

Nadishiko blinked as she tried to get just about what he was talking about, but it was hard. All she got was there was a place back home he wanted to take her someday and someone was really nice. "Sure, I love Italian.' She said, getting that part as well at least. Nadi really hoped that they had some form of language book or dictionary on his type of accent at the mall.

Of course all thought of what he'd been saying had been lost the moment that he pulled his shirt off and walked into his room. Thank whatever deity that had set him on her path, he was something to look at. Nadi couldn't stop herself from following after him and watching him pull a nice shirt out and a tie. All of a sudden she was starting to feel woefully under dressed.

"I'm starting to feel a bit under dressed for such a handsome man.' She said sheepishly with a light tug to her haori. "If you're ok with that though I guess I'll be alright. Lead the way?"

"Divvin' fret. Ye look propa canny," Brenner assured her. "It's not far from here."

Feeling bold, and sort of proud of himself, he took her hand and led her out of the apartment, locking the door behind them.
