Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Brenner Mahoney and Nadi Fujioka
What: You tell me and we'll both know.
When: Wednesday afternoon
Where: In the mean streets of Philadelphia (in the Aldi nearest Drexel. Come on.)
Rating/Warnings: Low to PG13/Warning for excessive amounts of incomprehensible Geordie speech from Brenner. I'm not going to translate because half you'll get from context, and the other half, well. The language barrier is sort of the point of this thread :P

Brenner felt good. He might only get one summer holiday while he was at Drexel, but he felt like he'd made the most of it. Today, for example, he had rolled out of bed around ten, played around on his computer for a couple of hours, and then had lunch. After the laziness of the morning, he felt like he was in the mood to accomplish something, so he got dressed (polo shirt and khakis. His mother might not be there to see him, but she was there in his head) and combed his hair neatly, and ventured outside the house.

Honestly, he didn't really go out with an agenda outside of walking a ways and seeing where he ended up. His shoes were comfortable, his tunes were good and his day was free, so he wandered down to campus, picked up the books he would need for the coming year, and wandered back to his apartment, where he dropped them off. Then he started thinking about what he wanted for dinner. A trip to the supermarket was in order, he decided, and left the apartment once more to head to the Aldi he'd found near his place shortly after moving in.

With no particular plan, he grabbed a trolley and started moving up and down the aisles, lazily grabbing things as they caught his eye. It was interesting just looking at all the packages of unfamiliar food. He'd told himself he try new things, at least a couple a week, so he tossed in a couple of bags of sweets that he'd never tasted before. He was in no hurry. He had no commitments today, no place to be, and Beau, as far as he knew, wouldn't be home, let alone expecting him. He turned the trolley, leaning on the handlebar, and started to work his way around again.

She kissed him back! Brenner's lips curved in kind of a goofy grin as they pulled back.

"I should say that it's too soon to tell," he said, "but who am I to fight this destiny thing? So... I suppose I'll just say, d'you fancy going out for dinner with me?"

That grin on his face had to be the most adorably attractive thing that Nadishiko had ever seen. So far, it looked like this was going to work out incredibly well.

"I think I would love to go out to dinner with you Brenner. Any place you'd like to go?" If not, she knew a few great restaurants that played live music that she loved.

"There's a lovely wee fish chip shop back home I'd love to take ye," Brenner said with a wistful laugh. "Ol' Neville's a propa canny radgie, and his hinny Barb is about the sweetest woman on earth, apart from me mam that is. But since I can't take ye doon the Toon, there's a nice wee Italian place around the corner. D'ye like Italian?"

He stood, walking over to his bedroom. He left the door open so they could still talk, and shed his polo shirt on the way in. From his closet he pulled a nicer, long sleeved button down shirt in sky blue, and a navy blue tie patterned with tiny white diamonds. He shrugged into the shirt, slung the tie around his neck, and walked back out still buttoning himself up.

"I reckon I look propa for a dinner with a beautiful lass now," he said with a lopsided grin as he finished buttons and deftly tied the tie. "Shall we?"

Nadishiko blinked as she tried to get just about what he was talking about, but it was hard. All she got was there was a place back home he wanted to take her someday and someone was really nice. "Sure, I love Italian.' She said, getting that part as well at least. Nadi really hoped that they had some form of language book or dictionary on his type of accent at the mall.

Of course all thought of what he'd been saying had been lost the moment that he pulled his shirt off and walked into his room. Thank whatever deity that had set him on her path, he was something to look at. Nadi couldn't stop herself from following after him and watching him pull a nice shirt out and a tie. All of a sudden she was starting to feel woefully under dressed.

"I'm starting to feel a bit under dressed for such a handsome man.' She said sheepishly with a light tug to her haori. "If you're ok with that though I guess I'll be alright. Lead the way?"

"Divvin' fret. Ye look propa canny," Brenner assured her. "It's not far from here."

Feeling bold, and sort of proud of himself, he took her hand and led her out of the apartment, locking the door behind them.
