Summary: Another party

Savannah wasn't good with surprise parties, which was why she was planning her own birthday/anniversary part with Brian's help. Everything was paper based since the 1st anniversary was paper. There were paper decorations, plates and napkins, paper flowers, food that resembled paper. Of course, since it was her birthday, all of that paper tended to be pink. Brian had a lot of it already in stock since they had used it for the baby shower. In a way, Savannah was the queen of recycling since her decorations were always pink and Disney themed. It also made Brian's life very easy and the room looked perfect, down to the pink Christmas light that had been used for several parties now.

The cake was the best part, though. Savannah did not care that they had taken the design from a 1st birthday party. It was perfect and the two pages had both Happy Birthday and Happy anniversary. Nell had been great and Marty didn't seem to mind that there was so much pink, which was even better. Of course, her husband would have had a problem if he hated pink with three girls in the family.

The dress had taken a little longer. She didn't want to spend a lot of money and wanted something sexy and pink, but most sexy and pink looked like they belonged to strippers. She finally found a store like Forever 21 and most of their dresses were around $25. She finally settled on a short purple dress. Not pink, but good enough.

With everything ready, the music picked by Sean, they were ready to party.

April and Eliot had spent most of today in the kitchen working with the food for Savannah's party. It was turning out to be a very nice weekend, first the date which Eliot had arranged yesterday, then spending the day cooking, and now a party.

Approaching Savannah, April smiled widely. "Happy birthday, and happy anniversary," she said as she gave her friend a hug. "We got you a little something," she said, handing her a package with the gift she and Eliot had gotten for her. It was nothing big, just a little something, and in theme with the party and anniversary since they were made of paper.

Savannah smiled when she saw April approach her. "Thank you, and you didn't have to," she said, grinning as she returned the hug, but that didn't mean that she didn't open the gift, smiling. "These are so cute. Thank you." And this were more likely to survive another attack, but then people were getting really good at buying things that you could carry with you.

"It's so nice to have you on our floor, not that we really have time for socializing," she added, laughing. "Do you like your new hall mates?"

"We didn't get it because we had to," April said with a laugh. "But because we like you. You're welcome, I'm glad you like them."

"I know, I wish we did have time to socialize more, even if I completely get why we don't." She smiled. "The others are nice. I've only talked to Ms Barrish once so far, but Claudia has been joining us for dinners on weekends and then there is Sean and Troy and of course I like them."

"How is it living in a new hall for you? Do you miss the rest of your family?"

"Thanks again," she answered, chuckling, "and I do. They fit in a bag, too, which is important."

Savannah shrugged, but smiled. "All the socializing, or lack thereof, is giving me an amazing body. I'm even more toned than before national. All that running and climbing has made my butt as hard as rock. It's great." She had cared at the start, but now, she cared less, not when she had her family to take care of. "I've spoken to the Governor a few times, but just a few words, nothing substantive. Yes, I might know Sean and Troy," she added, giggling. "I can't believe they are getting married. I'm so happy for them. It's going to be wonderful."

She shook her head. "Not really. It's not like we have much time and we all tend to stay downstairs anyway. It's what the Director wants, even if he doesn't say so. I miss the private dinners, just to have a few hours just for us, but G wouldn't want to eat upstairs and have special privileges." Although they totally should considering how much time Sam and G put into work.

"Yes it is," April agreed. "I can't say that was something I ever thought about when buying gifts before."

"An up to all the training?" April laughed. "I can't say I worry too much about my butt at the moment, but I can't deny that I'm in better shape than I've ever been before, even now." April nodded about Ms Barrish, she didn't seem like the kind of person who opened up - and right now she had a lot to work through.

"I know, it's wonderful. I'm so happy for them." Although by the sounds of it she'd spend the bachelor party blushing, but then she figured she could bow out early if it was too much. No one would care and possibly not notice.

She smiled. "I can understand why you'd miss that, even if most of us try to stay out of the dining room when you eat on Sundays. It's not the same but we can at least give you some privacy."

"Children and plastic surgery," she said, laughing, "but I'll stick with kids... well unless I get fat or get cellulite, ewwww." Savannah took pride in her appearance. It wasn't a way to get men, like some thought, but her mother had taught her that a woman should always look her best and she agreed. Breasts were just part of it. "Not that there's really any chance of that with Sam's training. I really, really love him for that."

Savannah nodded. "You're welcome."

She looked at her crazy family, spread through the room. "I haven't thought about my family in so long. We weren't really talking anyway and now there's just no time for regrets. This is my family." She spread her hands, smiling. "All of the insane people in the family."

"Yes, I doubt fat will be an issue for any of us anytime soon," April answered with a laugh, very glad that no one here knew about her plastic surgery. She hadn't even told Eliot about her nose job.

April wasn't sure how you could ever not think of your family, even with a new one. "I suppose it would be different when you don't speak to them," she said. "And with finding such a wonderful family here."

Brian, Savannah and Deeks

He knew that everyone would buy gifts for Savannah and forget the anniversary part. It was normal, and even more so with a person like Savannah, who had taken over everyone's lives in a day or another. Brian was never one to go with the flow and that was the reason for his gift.

He approached the happy couple and handed the pink bag, stuffed with more pink paper and his gift to Deeks. "Happy birthday and happy anniversary."

Outside of the family, Marty really wasn't expecting anniversary gifts. Mostly it was because it was Savannah's birthday and he tended to focus on spoiling her. Of course, he also found the idea that he'd been married and settled for a year -- and now had two gorgeous little girls -- a little surprising. The Marty Deeks of now was a very different man than the Marty Deeks who had wandered through the rift nearly two years ago.

"Thanks, man." Grinning, he took the bag from Brian and couldn't repress a chuckle at all the pink. Between Savannah and the twins, Marty say a lot of pink in his future, at least until one or both of the girls decided their favorite colors where blue and orange or something. He wouldn't put it past any kid of theirs to have an independent streak a mile wide. Lifting out the top layers of tissue paper, he started to pull out the gift inside.

Gut reaction? Why the fuck is another man giving us lingerie for my wife?

Then common sense kicked in a nanosecond later and Marty remembered this was Brian and grinned before handing the bag to Savannah. He wouldn't embarrass her by pulling it out for anyone to see. "Let me say that again with a little more feeling. Thank you, Brian."

Savannah took the bag wondering what had gotten that reaction. She looked at the contents with a certain suspicion. It was Brian and it was Marty and if there were sex toys in there- She grinned when she saw what was there and immediately pulled it out.

"Oh my this is gorgeous. It reminds me of the costume for the last calendar we did for the Hellcats. We were going to do another one when I crossed over. I was February and I always wore pink." That top was truly wonderful. She looked at the string that held the back of the underwear. "Okay, it wasn't exactly like this." She put it back in the bag and hugged Brian. "Thank you, I love it, and Marty seems to like it too," she said, giggling.

Brian laughed. "I'd say that I'd like it more if you were wearing it, but-" He shivered. "I'll appreciate its beauty without all the-" He waved in her direction. "Fatty, squeezy parts."

"You make it sound so sexy," she answered laughing, before turning to Marty. "You don't mind seeing it with all the fatty, squeezy parts, do you?"

Marty hummed thoughtfully and put his arms around Savannah. Pulling her closer, he grinned. "I'm rather fond of the fatty squeezy parts," he told her, kissing his nose. "And the not so fatty squeezy parts. It's quite alright. I can enjoy you in it enough to make up for any appreciation Brian might be lacking."

Looking over her head, he winked at the man in question. "Your loss." Marty chuckled. "Not that I think you see it that way." Not beieng Savannah or the enthusiastic hugging of most people sort, he held out his hand to the other man. "Thanks, again, for everything, man."

Really, he knew G and Sam weren't the biggest fans of Brian Kinney, but he wasn't that bad once you got to know him. And he made Savannah's parties perfect for her, which earned points in Marty's book any day.

"Yes, we'll just agree to disagree on this one." Brian was happy with never thinking of Savannah in that outfit, but he could still appreciate the aesthetic beauty of it.

He shook Deeks' hand, smiling. "It's my pleasure, and I mean that. A pissed off Savannah makes everyone's life hell. Keeping her happy is in my best interest."

Savannah smacked his arm, which wasn't unexpected. "Liar. You're a big softie, but we'll keep your secret."

Brian raised an eyebrow. "I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm always hard, and now I'm going to get harder by hitting on a few guys. I'll see you later."

Savannah snorted as he left. "He's so bad, but at least you got a present, too." She put her arms around Marty and kissed him. The six inch heels made it a lot more comfortable than usual. "Happy anniversary, baby."

Brian had been busy. There was a birthday/anniversary party, a bachelor party and a wedding to organize, plus with the end of the season sales, he'd spent time finding suits and dresses for the wardrobe. That was on top of new arrivals, cover stories, new documents, and odd requests from Vance. Why the fuck were they buying random bathing suits for the new people? He could understand Douglas and Thomas, but were they really going to let Margaret and the other two swim in a frigid lake?

The problem with all these things to do was that he didn't really get to know the new people and there was one in particular that he wanted to know. He grabbed two beers and found the man in question. Brian approached him from behind. He put an arm on Thomas' shoulder as he showed him the bottle and his lips brushed against Thomas' ear. "Care for a beer?"

Of all the Hammonds, TJ was probably the one most likely to find strange men just walking up and touching him. It didn't happen often if they actually knew (and were sober enough to remember) who he was. But, at clubs or parties, it wasn't an unusual phenomena, either. So, to suddenly have Kinney leaning on him and speaking into his ear wasn't enough to startle him.

The offer of a beer was enough to get TJ to smile.

From what he'd learned from others, this was definitely the man TJ wanted to get to know around here if he wanted any fun at all. Or anything decent to wear with the tiny stipend they were going to be given. Taking the bottle and cracking it open, he took a long pull from it. Slowly the smile turned into a wicked smirk. "A man who provides."

"Anything you need and more than you can dream of," Brian answered, smoothly. This was a game he knew how to play and the fact that this was the son of a president made no difference to Brian. Just another another and just another fag.

"You must drink beer very differently in your dimension. In the name of integration, let me show you how we do it." He took a sip of his beer, very little, before kissing the other man, seeking entrance into Thomas' mouth to let the beer flow. Maybe it wasn't the way to start a discussion, but Brian found that it saved time. If the man was a prude... yeah, no fucking way from what Margaret had said, but it could happened and if he was, Brian could ignore him.

Brian pulled back and kept his arms on Thomas' shoulders as he smirked. "Well, hello, Mr. Hammond. It's very nice to be teaching you the real way things work. We're much friendlier than all of those classes make you think. It's that stick so many have up their asses. I'd say that a good lay would fix that, but I've known them for too long to think that. How about you? Do you have a stick up your ass or do you just like something up our ass?"

"I don't know. I've got some big dreams. Born with a silver spoon and all." For the first time since suddenly finding himself in a mall, TJ relaxed a little. This was something familiar, something easy. Something as natural as breathing.

He remained passive for just a moment as Brian kissed him, then chased the flavor of beer back into the other man's mouth with his tongue. Few people were quite this forward with the former first son. But, let it not be said that TJ Hammond wasn't able to rise to an occasion...in more ways than one. Kissing random guys was awesome. He was just used to having to make the first moves.

"I'm sure I can think of even friendlier introductions," TJ drawled, gaze deliberately dropping slowly down Brian's body before raising again. One corner of his mouth lifted in smirk. "It'd be a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Kinney." This time his gaze flickered across the room to rest on the young man he'd seen in Kinney's company at breakfast most mornings. TJ did have a couple rules, despite his various reputations. "Under the right circumstances."

Flirting, an art that was lost on the people in this room. Brian liked sex; fuck, he loved sex, but there was something about the chase that no one else seemed to get.

This was another chase, and he waited to see Thomas' reaction. A small sense of victory was shown in his smile as Thomas kissed him back. One hand slid down the man's body and wrapped around his waist.

Brian pulled back and stared impassibly. A once over had never intimidated him and despite all of his complaints, he knew he was in an even better shape that he used to be, however the words had him groaning. "Oh Jesus fucking Christ, don't tell me that you're another faggot with moral and will never fuck someone who's in a relationship, because if you are, just... shut up and I'll be happy to look at that ass of yours and pretend that you never opened your mouth. Now, before you say more, since I've had this discussion way too many fucking times, I'm with John, I fuck around, it's no one's business but ours. Would I fuck you right now? No, because I'm not that crass. Would I fuck you? Fuck yeah. Now, don't disappoint me by telling me that you have some moral code that only lets you fuck single men."

"Then it sucks," Brian said, chuckling. "I'm not really into private. Don't get me wrong, I can be private on occasion, but there's nothing like the thrill of a backroom, the sounds and smell of sex all around you, having everyone's eyes on you, knowing that you are the best in there and everyone wants to go on their knees for you or just want to be you. And not because of who your parents are," he added, because he was sure that Thomas got plenty of that too, but it was different.

He got up, and got out of the building. The house was blissfully empty, which was expected. No one missed a party for Savannah unless they were bed ridden. "Your room. I have condoms if you want, but they don't work. They are mostly for show with the locals, only reasons I have them. So if you have something, if you think you might have something, if you even suspect you might have something, this is the time to share." He pulled out a small bag with some pills from his jeans pocket. "Also I'm told that I'm not supposed to share, but these are some fucking crazy E. The shit they have here is a lot stronger."

TJ let Brian into his room and closed the door. "No, nothing." He shook his head at the question about having anything. For some reason, with that, he was always careful. Maybe because it wouldn't just kill him if he had anything. TJ might have suicidal tendencies, but he wasn't careless enough to want to take anyone else out with him. He didn't know. The sex wasn't always the safest, but he tested regularly and needles weren't involved in any of his habits.

He snorted softly. "That would be my parents' influence." Smiling wickedly, he moved closer raised one eyebrow in question before reaching to take the bag from Brian. He fished one pill out and held it up to Brian's lips. "So, if you can't share. I guess that means you should take this. And then I can take it from you and you haven't shared."

"Clean, and monogamous for too long. I'll tell you later about the middle of nowhere, Arizona later." Okay, so he hadn't been monogamous since getting here, just selective, but he still had been monogamous for months.

He shook his head. "Military influence. I got the speech before they even picked you up." And he could explain about Dom and dimensions later, but there was a party to return to after their own private party.

Brian took the pill, letting it sit on his tongue, before kissing the other man. He really loved kissing and touching and getting high and everything was happening at once and life was good once again.

John and Claudia

John tired to guess how many parties he'd been to in the last year and a half. Super Bowl parties, holiday parties, birthday parties, now anniversary parties. For the kid who'd never been to a party before he was seventeen, he definitely couldn't say he didn't know what people did at these things anymore.

Of course, this was also a party for Savannah, so he put forth a lot more effort to enjoy things than he might usually, even with the idea of celebrating when there were things to celebrate that he and Derek shared. So, he had cake and soda, made sure to give the birthday girl a hug and wish the happy couple a happy anniversary.

And then he found a reason to be on the other side of the room while Brian did his thing. John would never ask Brian to stop or to change for him. And he would defend Brian's right to do what he wanted with whomever he wanted with a vengeance. He just wasn't fond of seeing it.

The reason he chose to be on the other side of the room turned out to be Claudia Donovan, mostly because she was there. But, John hadn't had a chance to talk with her much yet and he knew what it was like to be the one from a totally different world than everyone else. Until Derek had come through, it had just been John. Besides, he'd taken a lot of what Sam and Callen had talked about as far as making this a team to heart. So, he tried with everyone. Sometimes he got friends, sometimes he got friendly acquaintances. Only rarely did he get true animosity.

Okay, just once, really.

"Hey." He offered Claudia a small smile in greeting as he came to perch on the arm of a nearby chair. "So, party girl? Or good-natured participant? Or rabidly anti-social and suffering through every moment of cake and music?"

Claudia sat cross-legged on a chair, a plate of food on one arm and a capped bottle of water balanced on the other. The party had been a surprise, not an unpleasant one, just one she didn't know about until it was brought up at dinner last night. A birthday and an anniversary. She didn't know anyone who celebrated their anniversary with friends, but birthdays she was down with, especially when there was food and cake and talking.

"Hey back," Claudia greeted with a smile when John joined her. "I'd say party girl light. Not too into the wild and crazy club scene, but this sort of shindig I'm into. You?"

Doesn't leave much of a way to avoid them even if I wanted to."

Settling more firmly on the arm of the chair, he leaned back and cracked open his can of cola, then took a sip. "Actually, you kind of remind me of me right now. One of the first parties they threw after I got here was for my eighteenth birthday. Savannah made me three cakes because I didn't really have a preference and she wanted to make sure she got something I liked. Spent most of the night sitting with some of each balanced on my knees because she convinced me I didn't really have to choose one or the other since it was my birthday."

"Kinda hard to avoid people when we all live together, too, unless you hole up in your room and, let me tell you, locking yourself up in a room that size for long periods of time starts to make you crazier than you already think you are." Being in a psych ward really made a difference in one's life, Claudia thought.

"One thing they do good here is food. Even the bad food is good. Then again, some days the exercise leaves me so hungry that eating shoes would taste good," Claudia said with a chuckle. "I don't see you all day at training. You must've lucked out being put on office work, which goes with the whole tech man thing I've heard you are. "We haven't always. When I first got here we were kept on an army base in New York," John explained. "People shared houses on base, three or four to a house, or lived in the hotel. It wasn't until last summer that they moved us all into three big houses. Then smaller apartments. Then we were on a ranch and living in groups of two to four again. This is the first time we've all been under one roof, actually." Her turn of phrase caught his attention, reminding him a little of how his mother had talked after Pescadero. But, other than raising an eyebrow in curiosity, John didn't press, just filed it away in his mind for later.

"As I'm often reminded, I'm a teenager and male. As long as it's edible, it's all good to me," he told her with a laugh. "It's why I didn't have a preference on birthday cakes. If it's food, I'll eat it." And he'd eaten better here than he usually had at home, even before his little jaunt into post-judgement day hell. Snorting he shook his head. "Depends on your idea of luck. I've got a background equally versed in tech, investigation, and combat. So, I do double duty. Mornings training with the field units and afternoons with guys in research."

Nodding in sympathy, he paused long enough to take another sip of his soda. "It's not so bad once you get used to the slower speed." And after looking at her laptop, he knew she was going to suffer severe withdrawls for processing speed. Only thing he'd ever worked with that wet as fast as her processor was a trip-eight's chip, which actually left her processor in the dust at the starting line, but that was a whole other thing. "For me it was that and the actual programming languages. We have some things similar in my world and some very different. Once I got a handle on that, examining the code and piecing together how it worked was pretty easy. I didn't have anything on me to lose when I came through, though. Cash and IDs, really."
