RP: Tyra & Tim
Who: Tim, Tyra
Where: Tim's room
When: November 24th, 2011 (late)
Summary: Tyra decides not to put off talking.

Tyra had spoken to a few people at the dinner and had enjoyed herself to a point but after the football and everything else, she really just felt like going home and having a few drinks to relax. She wasn't a big drinker on the whole; having been allowed alcohol at a young age meant that she was usually happy with a beer after a long day and she didn't move on to anything harder. However, today she thought she probably needed something more to deal with everything she was feeling and so when she got back, she showered and changed into something she could sleep in before going into the kitchen. Grabbing a bottle of spirits, she then made her way to Tim's room, hoping he'd be there.

Knocking, she opened the door when he said to come in and smiled.

"Hey Tim," she said, closing the door behind her and leaning against it as she looked at him. "So I thought you might want to help me out with some of this," She gestured to the tequila. "And I figured we need to talk. The last few days have made me realize I don't know what you've told these people and I don't want to go putting my feet all over the life you have here."

And that was the crux of it, really.

Savannah had told her things, Alexis too, and Tyra didn't want to get in the way of any life Tim had going on. Despite anything that might have been said, they had had months apart and Tyra at least had tried to forget anything and put it down to Tim having been lonely before taking off. But knowing that he hadn't made her want to get everything out in the open and also just talk. She missed home, she missed her family and this, Tim, was familiar. She needed that.

There had been holidays since Tim showed up there, well small ones at least not like Thanksgiving, at least in Tim's mind. Easter was well and good but Thanksgiving was always something more, he and Billy always managed to have a real honest to god meal together, they didn't even have to be drunk to get through it together and you know it was just a day about family. A family that wasn't there.

But what he did have was Tyra. And when she opened the door he smile. "Hey there."

She was probably right, he had answered her questions that first night and things had kind of just gone on since then, there were schedules and training and all sorts of things to keep them busy and so there wasn't much time to just talk. He nodded tilting his head in to her. "Come on, you wanna sit?" They really did need to talk he supposed, at least with Tyra it would be easier than anyone else.

For all the time that had passed and all their shared history, she was still Tyra. And after so long apart Tim really needed a bit of that in his life again.

"Well, I wasn't planning on standing here all night," Tyra smiled and pushed herself off from the door, moving across the room.

"I didn't say it but Happy Thanksgiving," she said, opening the cap on the bottle and taking a sip of it before passing it across to Tim. The tequila was strong and they needed limes but she didn't care all that much. She'd never been picky when it came to liquor.

"Did you enjoy today?" she asked, making herself comfortable on the bed and looking at him with a smile. "It's weird, you having a life here. Or not weird so much as just kind of crazy. I don't think I really got it until I started speaking to some of the others."

"As much as I'd've enjoyed the view it probably woulda gotten creepy after a while." He told her with a small smirk.

"Yeah, you too." He took the bottle and too his own sip, taking a moment to savor the feeling and the taste - neither exactly the best he'd ever had but then that wasn't really the point at the moment, now was it? "Happy Thanksgiving."

He nodded, "It was alright, there was football and good food, it's hard not to enjoy that. What about you? Still a bit much?" He shrugged, maybe if that was all it was he'd have enjoyed it more, it was just times like these when he couldn't just ignore that he'd left his family and his life behind in Texas. "Trust me, I tell myself that same thing every day." He told her. "What did they tell you?"

"Why do I like you again?" she asked, slanting him a look that said she was clearly joking.

"Yeah," She sighed. "I kept thinking that today momma and Mindy will know for sure that something's wrong. I mean, I was supposed to arrive on Tuesday but they might have thought my English paper was keeping me in Austin but today," Tyra shook her head. "Not a chance."

"Things," She smiled slightly. "I wasn't sure how much you had told them so I let them take the lead on some of the talking. I like Alexis," she said. "She reminds me of Julie although a Julie who lives in New York with actresses and writers and movie rights for her father's books," She shook her head. "There's some strange people here."

"It was weird seeing you not try to kill the opposition on the football though," she said, nudging his shoulder. "I guess you couldn't with two of the opposition being pregnant and all."

"I'm charming." Tim reminded her simply, though they both should know better.

He nodded, he knew that feeling - there was only so long people could convince themselves of a convenient truth before reality got to be too difficult to keep on ignoring. "Yeah, either that or they're working on some plan to get you for missing out on the holiday."

"Things." Tim repeated slowly raising an eyebrow at her, taking another sip from the bottle before handing it back. "That could be worrying." He grinned and nodded when she made her comparison of Alexis to Julie Taylor, now that she had said it though he could see where she'd gotten the idea from. "Yeah I can see that, she's a nice girl." He said after a moment before he laughed. "I told you they were crazy the first night you were here."

"I was warned that pregnant women can't be tackled." Tim shrugged, he could take it easy for once though - especially after the way their pick up game at Easter had gone. Maybe if they could get a game of just the guys going once it would be easier to really let loose but they kept letting the girls play and that made it a little more difficult. "It wasn't too bad though."

"Mmhmm," Tyra murmured, her lips curving into a smile. "Sure you are, Riggins."

"Lifetime babysitting duties," Tyra told him, tapping her fingers on the bottle when he passed it back. "Or diaper duty. I think you should get in some of this action, Tim. Who'd want to pass up diaper duty?"

"Things," She nodded. "Not much. Apparently Savannah teases you about rally girls and is like your big sister and you told Alexis about your land and your scholarship," Tyra looked at him and took another sip of the bottle before continuing. "You didn't tell them about jail, did you? I mean I get why, new start and all and you shouldn't have even been in jail at all."

"You did. I just didn't think I'd be talking to somebody who probably has more pocket money in a week than I earned in a month at Applebee's," she said, chuckling. "She is nice though, I like her. I really like John too, my training partner. He gave me all his training notes so I can catch-up before classes start."

"No, it wasn't," She picked at the bottle label for a moment. "I was just frustrated. I thought playing football might help but it didn't."

Tim laughed, "Oh I'm sure they've already come up with the perfect punishment for me, they've had long enough to come up with something." He assured her - easier to joke about how long he'd been gone than actually think about it, and wonder just what his family thought, or how hard it was for any of them.

"I don't know about big sister," Tim said with a small grin, Savannah was a good girl though, and she helped him out. Tim really didn't know what to call that, it was just the way they were. "No, I didn't tell them, no one here knows - well Morgan knows, but he's the only one I haven't told anyone else, and I don't plan on it." He shook his head, "It doesn't matter, I went and I'm out and I'm not goin' back."

He huffed a short laugh and nodded, "Yeah that takes a little getting used to - it's like none of them really understand what it means to just be normal, they all have their own versions of it, but it's not real." He said shaking his head.

"It was better at Easter when we played," He told her, they hadn't had to be careful, they could actually get into the game. He'd liked it then. It wasn't really satisfying this time. "It's easier if you don't think about it."

"I did hear something about your being a slave when you get back," she joked before growing serious. "Billy built the house, y'know? He figured you were coming back at some point to yell at him for not doing it right but I made sure it was right where you wanted it with a big porch you could sit out on."

"It's still not right," she murmured, almost under her breath. She took another sip of the liquor and reached across to place it on the nightstand. "I get why you did it but," She sighed. "It just isn't right, Tim. It never was right."

She chuckled. "Yeah, they're obviously the weird ones, not us," she agreed with a small smile. "But listening to Alexis talk about how her mom took her out of school to go to Paris for the day and how her dad's friends with all these important people. It just seemed worlds away."

"Life's easier when you don't think about it," Tyra hugged her knees to her chest and rested her chin on them, looking at Tim.

"Yeah that sounds about right." Tim nodded, he could deal with it if it meant he got to go home though. He didn't care whatever it was they wanted him to do to make up for it, he'd have gladly paid that price. "I hoped he would, we were gonna do it together, it would have been great." He sighed, he didn't let himself think about it too much - it was always that thing he wanted, to go home, get his land and his house and Skeeter and just be there where he was supposed to be instead of getting caught up in all of this. But he didn't think about it often, not anymore, it just made all of this harder than it needed to be.

"When have I ever done the right thing?" He asked her, pushing back until he hit the wall and stretching his legs out in front of him, tipping his head back. He didn't do the right thing, he just did the thing that came into his head, right or not.

"They're the weird ones, trust me." Tim had been there long enough that he knew better - even some of them thought they were weird too - he wasn't going to start wondering whether or not there was something wrong with him.

"Always is," He agreed. "One of the few things about this place that hasn't changed."

"I know. I guess we all thought that if we built the house, you might come back. Though if you had, I had a speech all worked out. I had plenty of time to work on it," she said, looking away. "I'm sorry, you probably don't want to hear any of this stuff. I'm not exactly helping anybody's mood talking on like this."

"You do it plenty," Tyra said, shifting to face Tim properly. "I should have come back sooner. I love your brother, Tim, and he's the best thing that ever happened to Mindy but I don't know how he could let you take the fall for that."

"So, to talk about things here. Savannah says Alexis might have a crush on you although you probably know. You've never been oblivious to women," She grinned. "Another Becky?"

"I doubt you were the only one with a speech prepared." He told her, he expected to hear it from everyone he'd left back at home, Billy and Mindy, he wouldn't even be surprised if Stevie had something to say about his disappearance. "It's alright, we can talk about that if you want, or we can talk about anything else." They were both going to be in pretty poor spirits given everything, but at least they had each other.

Tim shook his head. "He did it because I told him to - he had a family, he had Stevie and there was no way I was gonna let him take the fall for that. They needed him more than they needed me."

He nodded when she asked about Alexis. "Yeah, she does." He hadn't missed it, it wasn't exactly the same as Becky but he could see the similarities there that had Tyra bringing her up in the first place. "Something like that," He nodded, "She's a good kid, strange but then everyone here is so it wasn't that surprising."

Tyra shook her head quickly. "I think they'd be that pleased to see you, there wouldn't be any kind of speech for a while," she admitted. "My speech was all around you telling me you had no plans other than building the house and then leaving me anyway," She poked his leg with her foot. "Jackass."

"But it was his fault, Tim," And this was what Tyra disliked about the entire situation. She knew Billy had always been there for Tim, always looked out for him and yet this- A criminal record. "I get why you did it, it just still doesn't sit right."

"She's certainly not from Dillon, that's for sure," Tyra laughed a little. "Savannah's more like somebody from back home. So who else are you close to here?"

"They'd come eventually, you have met your sister right?" Tim reminded Tyra with a chuckle. And truthfully he'd love to hear any speeches anyone had about his disappearing, no matter what they were about - if it meant he got to hear them at all. "My plans never changed, build the house, never do anything illegal ever again, and grow old in Texas. It just didn't work out that way."

"I know it was, I helped him though, I did it too - I wasn't gonna let Steve grow up without having him there. He always took care of me when I needed it." Tim had made Billy let him do it, and as much as he'd hated it and held it over Billy's head when he got out he wouldn't have done it another way. "Nothing about it was right, Tyra. It's just the way it happened."

"Not even close, I don't think she'd even fit in in Dallas." He said with a short laugh. "Savannah and Alexis, I've talked to Derek more than most people." He told her, "We were partners for I while I guess, I dunno." He shrugged, things had changed with all the new people arriving and the teams switching and moving houses, things were different there. Derek knew the most about him though out of everyone. "Neal and Harvey are alright, I wouldn't say we were close though."

"Oh I didn't say there wouldn't be anything at all," she pointed out, grinning." Just that you might get ten minutes of peace before they start," She laughed. "Yeah, Mindy's Mindy. And I hope you get your dream one day. If anybody deserves it, you do, Tim."

Tyra decided to drop the subject. There was so many times after Tim had left when she'd spoken to Mindy about it and even Billy a few times too but she'd stopped when she realized resolving anything wasn't going to change anything.

"Look at you surrounding yourself with pretty girls. Some things never change," She chuckled. "Derek was nice, letting me sit on your afternoon," she said. She didn't know anything more about him though if Tim liked him, there had to be something about the man that was different. "I like Harvey, I told him I'd get us some cocktail umbrellas for the summer cocktails at Christmas. I think we should crank up the heating and pretend like we're at home, ignore the snow outside."

Tim ducked his head and smiled, he seriously doubted he deserved that much, but if he happened to get it he wasn't about to send it back just because he thought he was undeserving. He never claimed to be unselfish after all.

There was still a lot of history between them, and still a lot of the things from home they'd never really had a chance to talk about before now. Tim didn't blame Tyra for bringing it up - even if what happened with Billy wasn't something he wanted to talk about. It was over and it was done with and right or wrong nothing was going to change that Tim had been the one to take the blame instead of Billy.

"Figure I gotta keep some things similar if I'm gonna be stuck here." He said and shrugged with a grin. It wasn't his fault the good looking ones seemed to like him. "He's nice, he likes talkin' a lot - I'd avoid him if that's not something you're lookin' to do." He said. He chuckled when she suggested turning up the heat for Christmas. "I think that sounds like a great idea, I don't need snow to make it Christmas. I think that'd go along pretty well with the theme."

Tyra chuckled when she saw Tim smile. He didn't smile that often, not properly, and she liked being the one to put the smile on his face. It was good.

"Well you're doing an admirable job at that part," she said with a smile. She reached across again to grab the bottle of tequila, deciding that she wasn't nearly fuzzy enough. She didn't want to get sloppy drunk but a bit more of a buzz wouldn't be a bad thing. "Then again, I'm sure the girls here aren't blind."

"Some of us don't have a problem with talking to strangers," she said, snorting. "We can even get some country music, teach the New Yorkers how to dance properly. Unless you've forgotten how to dance now you're a big city boy."

"I do what I can." Tim said with a grin, stealing the bottle from her and having another drink before giving it back to her, at least he had plenty of experience with pushing himself while hung over. He laughed when she said the girls weren't blind. "Now I know you've had too much when you start saying thing like that." Tim knew he was attractive, but that wasn't really the point.

"Some of us just have a problem talkin' to anyone." He reminded her, nudging her shoulder gently. He didn't mind talking about things that didn't mean anything, getting other people to talk about themselves, but he didn't really do much talking about himself to anyone. Tyra got to hear more because she was Tyra and he'd known her forever and she just had a place no one else was going to take.

"We had a country night a few weekends ago, complete with line dancing and singing. You'd've liked it." He told her. "Though I bet we could probably talk someone into doing something like that again, the turned one of the houses into a common space, they've been putting on music every weekend, they really like their music, some of it is kinda strange, but with these people I guess you can't be too surprised."

"I've hardly had any," she said, holding the bottle but not taking a drink. "But I'm right anyway. I'm just... A little surprised you haven't been taking advantage of it."

Tyra looked at him almost carefully when he nudged her shoulder and she poked him in the side with her finger. "Some of us know what you're trying to say even when you're not letting anything come out of your mouth," She reached up to muss his hair slightly to break the moment, not sure if she wanted him to read further into that. "I've known you your entire life, I'd be a bad friend if I didn't."

"I'm singing this weekend," she said with a groan before laughing. Tyra knew she hadn't got the best voice but she'd sounded alright outside the shower so she considered that a win. "Savannah asked me and I said sure although I have no idea what I've got to sing."

Tim shrugged, "It's not like I wouldn't have wanted to - but there aren't really a whole lotta options here." Savannah had gotten married, and Nell was - well she was weird, and Jenna was Sam's daughter and hadn't been interested when he'd tried there, and then there was Alexis who didn't sleep around or whatever, but Tim was pretty sure he wasn't going to be trying anything with her anyway. And there were others too, but they were either crazy or way too much work to be worth it. "Been trying out this thing where I don't get involved with crazy people just because I want to get laid."

He smiled, he was glad she was here - Savannah might understand him better than anyone else around could, but no one was ever going to get him the way Tyra did - they'd known each other far too long and been through too much for it to be any different. "That's true, guess I'm just lucky to have you then."

"She talked you into singing." He laughed, "She's had me singing too - 'bout time someone else gets it too." He grinned "It's kinda fun if you don't worry too much about how you sound - I'm sure some of them do, but you know me."

"I guess not," It still seemed a bit strange that Tim hadn't regardless of people being crazy but she wasn't going to worry about it. It wasn't her life and as she'd realized over the week, he'd been living here without anybody from home for quite some time. "Could this be you maturing? Scary thought, Riggs."

"After some of the crap you pulled?" She leaned across and kissed his cheek before smiling. "I suppose I gave as good as I got. Maybe we're both lucky."

"She didn't have to talk me into it, she just asked and I said yes," Tyra said. "You're singing?" She clapped her hand over her mouth as she laughed. "Are you serious? That's- I think that just made my day. Not much could top that."

Tim laughed when she teased him about maturing. "All it took was winding up in another dimension for a few months and suddenly I grew up." He told her shaking his head, he didn't think he'd changed that much, he was still that same guy, there just weren't willing and ready rally girls around - and now with the whole pregnancy thing he wasn't going to be doing at least that part of sex, he could figure out something else if he really wanted to, but there just hadn't been someone he could try with.

"Maybe a little." Though him more than her - Tyra had always been better with people than him, and that she stuck around as long as she did, despite everything - well that said he was definitely the lucky one.

He chuckled and shoved at her knee when she laughed. "Just wait, soon it's gonna be you singing too - it's not quite so funny then." He told her. He hadn't minded some of it though, the country night at least, it was fun enough getting to hear some familiar music and dancing the way he was used to. He'd with hold judgment until he saw the other nights before saying how they were.

"We should have sent you here years ago," she said with an exaggerated sigh. "Could have saved us all some trouble, Tim."

And she was back to teasing but making fun of Tim had always been a staple when dealing with him. There had been times when they were barely talking and yet they'd still trusted each other on a base level that nothing could change.

"How do you know I don't sing like an angel?" she asked, using her hand to brace herself so she didn't move too much when he shoved at her. She kicked at his leg in retaliation. "I could be the next big thing and you just haven't realized."

"You've have missed me too much." He assured her with a smirk.

He raised an eyebrow at her when she suggested how she might sing. "Like an angel, huh?" He gave her a considering look and shook his head. "I don't know about that, I think we'd have known by now if you were gonna be the next big thing. Or were you just hiding it so you could go for that degree?"

So much about this place sucked, he hated it and he wished he could be anywhere else than stuck here with these confusing people and their rules and training and teams and all the bullshit that made up what they did here. But then Tyra had shown up, and well, it didn't fix anything, but maybe it was a little easier to deal with when you had someone around who understood you.

"Like an angel," she agreed, just about managing to keep a straight face. "Well, you know, so many people have gone and made it big," She giggled a little. "I was just hiding my light under a bushel until the time was right, you know? For my star to shine."

She laughed a little more. "I'm not great but I'm not that bad. I don't think I've set myself up to fail anyway," Tyra shrugged and sipped once more at the tequila before offering it to Tim. "Take that off of me else I'm going to be drunk and Sam's gonna yell at me in the morning."

Tyra smiled happily as she thought about the weekend. One more day and then she could have a lie-in and wake up at a normal time. "Whether I can sing or not, it's gonna be fun. Like Alexis said, if people complain then they can get up there and sing themselves."

Tim laughed when she managed to actually say all of that without cracking a smile - it was pretty impressive at least. "You know what they say about hiding your light under a bushel dontcha?"

He grinned and nodded if he could manage to make his way through a few songs and not feel like he could never show his face again then Tyra was going to be just fine. "You'll be just fine, I've got faith in you." He told her, taking the tequila bottle from her.

"You never did learn how to hold your liquor, you got to start early in the day and just learn how to function that way." He told her shaking his head as he took a long sip himself. "Then you can still do the work, and no one yells at you." Well, most people didn't.

"Your right, it'll be fun, can't wait to hear your big moment when you let your light shine." He told her grinning.

"What do they say about hiding a light under a bushel, Tim?" she asked, snorting with amusement again. She'd gotten a fit of the giggles and she was trying her hardest to keep them under control but perhaps she was just tipping over the line into slightly drunk.

"I did," Tyra replied. "I just didn't drink half as much as you, I like a good beer or two but I don't drink anything stronger too often. Besides, I preferred to turn up to dinner sober unlike some," she added, giving him a pointed look. "Or practice for that matter."

"It'll be great, I'll be great. The music scene around here better watch out," she said before cracking up into laughter again.

"That you're not supposta, that's what." Tim said drawing it out slowly since he hadn't actually be expecting her to answer, because everyone knew the song. Still it was good to see her laughing even if it might have had more to do with the amount of alcohol she'd had that night than anything else - he missed this.

"Sober is overrated." Or it had been, he'd spent far more time sober here than he ever had at home. "I'll be mostly sober in the morning, just you wait." He assured her.

"Yeah, you'll be amazing." He agreed with a laugh.

"There I was thinking it was going to be some words of wisdom and you quote a damn song at me," she said, still smiling before shaking her head. "I was never one for hiding away anyway. Let's face it, I wasn't the most... Demure girl in Dillon."

"Mostly sober? Are you planning on finishing that bottle?" she asked, wondering if perhaps they'd both had a little too much to stay just buzzed. Then again, she'd seen Tim in states where by rights he should have been on the floor or out cold.

"Mmhmm," She shifted onto her back and looked up at the ceiling, still chuckling occasionally as something funny popped into her head. Tyra turned her head and smirked slightly at him. "I'm always amazing."

"People sing that song for a reason Tyra," Tim said rolling his eyes. "It's great words of advice, why do you think they make kids sing it?" He laughed, "You weren't the worst either."

Tim glanced at the bottle balancing on his knee, a few months ago he'd have been tempted to finish off the rest of the bottle all on his own, but he shook his head. "Nah, I think I'm good without it."

He grinned, it was always easy with Tyra, too easy sometimes, but he liked it here - getting a little bit of what it was like being home having here there with him. "Yeah, you are, that's what happens when you spend time with me."

"People sing that song because they can't be assed to make up a new one for children to sing, Tim," she countered. "I know. I just don't think I can really be accused of not shining. I made sure I did."

"Hm," Tyra was surprised a little, not least because Tim had drank quite heavily even when she'd last been out with him to celebrate Saracen and Julie's engagement. "See? Maturing."

"Oh- I'm only amazing when I spend time with you. Is that it?," She chuckled. "Now who's had too much to drink? Any more and you'll talk about 'Texas Forever'."

He laughed, yeah he'd missed this. "Yeah well maybe there's that too." He agreed shaking his head. "No, everyone saw you shine back home - bet you even got some notice down there in Austin too, I wouldn't expect any less from you."

Tim rolled his eyes, "Nah, I wouldn't call that maturing, I just don't want to deal with falling over in training, it was one thing with Coach, I think Sam might do worse than make me run laps." He didn't know what but he knew he didn't want to find out what it was.

"Pretty much, it's a side effect of spendin' time with me." He told her, setting the bottle down on the nightstand and dropping back into bed beside her. "Careful, I've been lookin' for someone who knows about Texas Forever to get it going again."

"Some," she admitted truthfully. Tyra had had plenty of attention and she'd liked that some of the guys were different to what she was used to. Some of them had had no manners or sense about what was right or wrong but others were nice. And they hadn't all been football players which had been exciting for a while. Still, she'd never gotten into anything serious. Tyra was really focused on her degree more than her dates and she hadn't wanted to get too distracted. "Lots more people there, Tim. Austin seemed huge when I got there. I wasn't sure that I liked it for a while but you know me, too stubborn to turn around an' come back. Now though, I love it. I even watch the Longhorns play."

She chuckled and wrinkled her nose up at the thought. Coach Taylor hadn't let Tim get away with that much but she didn't think Sam would let him get away with anything. "Yeah... I think laps would be the least of your problem,"

"Is that so? I didn't realize I owed so much to your presence," She snorted. "Stupid." When he mentioned getting Texas Forever going again, Tyra shook her head as best she could when her head was on the pillow. "Nope. Not happening. I'm not revitalizing that all over again. Besides, all of us knew it."

"Yeah I seen Austin, I know how it is." He nodded, and he didn't blame her for thinking like maybe she didn't like it at first. He'd been like that with San Antonio State, he just hadn't given it time to grow on him. But he hadn't wanted it the way Tyra wanted UT. "I bet they'd've run you outta town if you didn't check out the games." He laughed.

He nodded, "That guy is scary - I don't care what anyone says." He told her. "I just keep my head down and do the training." He didn't want to get on his bad side if he could help it.

"Yep, it's true - you really do." He told her and laughed when she said his idea was stupid. "Come on you know you love Texas Forever, don't deny it Tyra." It was stupid, and it was pointless since they weren't going back there, but it was what he had.

"I'd visited and all, you know that, but it was just... Different. Living there," She couldn't really explain but Tim had an idea, she thought. He had gone to college although he'd not stuck it out. She hadn't been that surprised about that either; Tim wouldn't have had the support he needed to get him through. Tyra had known from Mindy and from knowing him all that time that the motivation to be at college was around Billy wanting him to and college football rather than anything else. "Probably. I went to a few games and then was seeing one of the players for a while so then I had to go to the home games at least."

"Wise," she said with a decisive nod. "I wouldn't wanna get on the wrong side of him, let's leave it at that. After all, I'd like to come out of this alive."

"Every damn party, Tim," she said, remembering it with a small smile before it grew a little more mischievous. "At least I got to avoid that when we broke up. Definitely a positive."

"Yeah I guess it would be." Tim only had a small bit of experience at least as far as college went, but it was sort of like that with New York. He'd visited with Jason but it wasn't the same as actually living here the way he was now. Austin would have been the same, no matter how much close to home it was. "Oh yeah, dating a football player?" Tim asked grinning just a little bit wider at that. "Who'd have guessed Tyra Collette had a thing for the football players."

"You and me both," He agreed. Coming out of this thing alive had always been his goal - he wanted to be alive, to at least have the chance of getting back to Texas one day.

He rolled his eyes, "Harsh, Tyra, harsh." For all their ups and down though they had something between them, no matter what it ended up being.

"Seeing, Tim, there's a difference," she said. And perhaps she had had a thing for football players but it was hardly avoidable when even Landry could make the team. Tyra hadn't seen that one coming. The football player she'd seen in Austin was nothing more than some fun but it had been a way to settle in, it had been familiar. She'd needed that. "It wasn't anything serious anyway. Ended before I finished my first year at UT."

She closed her eyes when he talked about staying alive. Tyra didn't think she'd realized how serious things were when she'd first gotten here. She'd been overwhelmed with the security and the super powers and the sex issue but she hadn't thought about the fact that they were trying to stay under the radar.

"If I was nice to you, you wouldn't know what to do," She opened her eyes. "You weren't so bad, I guess."

"Course there is." Time grinned - he got that there was a difference, it was just like the way he was always only ever seeing some girl, he didn't date - not really. He let people call it dating, but Tim had never really been fond of the idea of being tied down like that.

He laid there beside her, it was comfortable and familiar in so many ways and made him miss being at home, like this could just be any other night when Tyra had stayed over and they'd stayed up late talking - though he supposed they did a little bit more than talking most nights, but it was good either way.

"You weren't so bad either." He told her shaking his head. Not nearly as bad as he'd tried to make her believe at times. It was just easier when he didn't have to be accountable to anyone.

"Stop smiling," She smacked his shoulder lightly. "Ass."

She closed her eyes again and realized how tired she was. She'd spent so much energy getting to know people this week and trying to learn all that she could that she hadn't slept much. It was difficult to, she thought, when you were up half the night thinking about what was happening in a different world. She was thankful for training despite her grumbling about it; it gave her something physical to tire her out.

"I know. We were just never in the right place. Literally this last time, I guess," She looked at him, pausing before speaking again. The last thing Tyra wanted was to go back to her own bed and sleep, knowing that if she was there, she'd probably cry thinking of everything she was missing out on back home and she really didn't want that. "Can I sleep here tonight? Just sleep but-" She shrugged. "I miss home. I want something familiar tonight, Tim."

He just laughed when she smacked him, he couldn't help but give her a hard time after all. It was just the way they worked and well her seeing a football player was just too good not to tease a little.

"Yeah, one day maybe." He shrugged - he wasn't going to push it or try to make anything happen. He was good just like this, being friends with Tyra he didn't need to make it anything more than that. They worked well as friends he thought, it was never quite as good when they tried to be anything else, maybe one day though if things worked out like that.

He nodded, "Sure - yeah, you can stay." He had the room and he wasn't going to kick her out because all she wanted to do was sleep. "Course you can."
