RP: Eliot - Morgan - Parker - April - G - Sam
Who: Eliot/Morgan/Parker/April/G/Sam
When: very late Saturday night, 9-3-11
Where: Cell Phone, Eliot & Parker's house presuming everyone is moved into their new digs
Summary: Eliot had a s(l)ight problem.

Eliot had noticed the slight discoloration of his eyes after he'd showered that morning. He'd chalked it up to having a shitty night's sleep.

By late afternoon, when he was washing up to prepare dinner, his eyes were more red than white. He'd been working outside on the new garden and figured he'd rubbed something into them on accident. A few eyedrops and he went on with his evening.

Reading before bed, his vision grew more and more cloudy and figured his previous night's sleep had caught up to him. When he went to take a final piss, the mirror told him something was very, very wrong.

The cell was charging on the nightstand, and he had a hell of a time seeing to find the correct person on it to call. His free hand balled into an anxious fist as he waited for Morgan to answer the phone and he didn't bother to say hello. "Medical emergency. Do I go to the base hospital?"

Derek was packing everything up at the house. He was also making sure that the people living with him would be able to move in and have companions before he left the house. No matter how fast he wanted to move, there was only so much he was willing to do in a day, and they still had the rest of the weekend, which is why he was lounging reading a book when the cell rang.

He barely had time to say 'hello' that Spencer was talking and Derek had to resist the urge to bang his head against the wall because of the man's inability to explain. "Depends, are you dying? Then maybe. Otherwise, you'll have to tell me what's this emergency and we can figure out how to fix it without doctors or by calling April."

"I can't see." Technically, Eliot still could see but it was like looking through a red-frosted window where all he really could make out were general shapes and colors. "Something's wrong with my eyes."

He didn't know if Parker was in the house or still at the old place. He carefully made his way to the bedroom door, opened it, and moved the phone to yell out her name. "Parker?"

Parker had been fiddling with things in her room attempting to get them back in some semblance of order again - she didn't have much that she felt the need to fill her life with but she was particular about the organization of things. So it was going to take her some time to get it all right again.

She frowned when Eliot shouted for her and poked her head out of her open door. "What?" She paused for a moment and decided maybe shouting wasn't exactly what she should be doing and went to go see why Eliot was yelling for her.

When the Parker-blob came into (sort of) view, Eliot pointed at his eyes. He stood in the open doorway of his room, dressed in boxers and a tank, still holding the cell. He blinked several times, trying to clear his vision, to no avail. "Morgan wants to know if April should be called," he told her.

Considering it appeared like he was wearing full-eye, blood-red colored contacts, perhaps it would be wise.

Parker really hadn't needed Eliot to point to his eyes, it was pretty obvious something was wrong. She moved closer looking at his eyes, pressing her hands to either side of his face and angling it down to see better. "Yes, April should come." She said first nodding, worried about what this could mean.

"What did you do?" She asked him.

Derek listened to the conversation for a while, giving up trying to ask questions or have a conversation, although he really wanted to know why Eliot hadn't spoken to Parker sooner and why she hadn't called April, but this wasn't the time. Instead he hung up and dialed April's number.

"Hey, Doc. We need your services. Eliot and Parker are already at their new place. I'll meet you there and we can figure out what's going on."

April was surprised by the call. If Eliot or Parker needed her, why hadn't they called her? She kept the confusion to herself though, as they might need her urgently and asking questions was a waste of time. Instead she just answered that she'd be right there, took her bag that she always had ready and close by, and headed out the door.

When she arrived at the new house she spotted Derek and smiled at him. "Hi, so what's going on?" she asked even as she rung the door.

Derek waited inside the the building for April, and opened the door for her, before going to the apartment. While he wanted answers, he could wait until she made sure that Spencer was all right.

"No idea. I got a strange call saying that there was a medical emergency and that he couldn't see," he explained. "Probably something with his power. God knows I couldn't even open my eyes for days, but let's rule out more normal things first."

They didn't wait long until Parker was opening the door. "Parker," he said as a greeting, before moving to the side to let April go in first. "Okay, Doc, see what you can tell us about this."

April nodded though she was still confused as to why they'd called Derek. Right now wasn't the time to think of that though, so she stepped inside and followed Parker's direction into Eliot's bedroom.

What she saw, however, was no medical situation she'd ever encountered before. Never had she seen eyes looking this read. It wasn't just red the way eyes got when blood vessels ruptured, it was red as if someone had put a colored lens over the entire eye. Her first instinct was that Derek had to be right, this had to be related to a power of some kind. Not that she wouldn't rule out every other possibility first. There were plenty of reasons for red eyes - some very serious - and she was not about to miss one just because she'd made up her mind too soon.

"Hi Eliot," she said. "Why don't you start with telling me how this started and what you're experiencing at the moment. Can you see at all? How does it feel?" She stepped up to him and took his arm. "Sit down here," she said guiding him. "I'll take a look at you while you talk and we'll see if we can't figure out what's going on, okay?"

Eliot heard three distinct sets of footsteps before the blobs entered his room. In spite of his concern, he had a warm smile for April. "Hey." He took a seat on the edge of the bed and 'looked' at her. "Sorry, I forgot you were a doctor. I'm not used to seeing you doing doctorly things."

He rested his hands on his knees, tilting his chin up for her to better examine him. "There's no pain. All I can see are cloudy shapes and colors, and even now the colors are starting to wash out to gray. The whites of my eyes were pretty red this afternoon, but I could still see and though maybe I rubbed some dirt in them when I was gardening. Parker thinks maybe something toxic instead."

He motioned to his face. "My vision started clouding over about fifteen-twenty minutes ago, then I sort of saw this in the mirror and called Morgan since he's the head man."

Thanking Derek for driving them, April helped Eliot out of the car and into the house. She'd texted Mike already to let him know what was going on, and called out to him that they'd arrived as she led Eliot to her bedroom. It was a good thing it was on the first floor, no steps for him to worry about.

"Any change so far?" she asked. "Is your vision still altering?"

"Cloudier and cloudier," Eliot confirmed. He went where she directed him, taking another seat. He reflexively tried rubbing his eyes. It didn't hurt, but it didn't do any good either.

"Try not to rub your eyes," April said, restraining herself from reaching out and pulling back his hands. "I don't know if it does any harm, but I would still prefer it if you didn't."

She looked into his eyes with the ophthalmoscope again, but by now she could no longer see the retnia at all. "I don't know how fast things are changing," she said. "Though I am certain that this must be your power showing, no medical condition that I know of does anything like this. If it is your power you'll figure out what it is and how to control it."

She put the instrument down in her bag. "Is there anything you need?"

Great, his 'superpower'. He snorted softly, shaking his head. He'd give a lot to be back home where the only powers came from the team working together. Since that wasn't going to happen anytime soon from what he could tell... "A beer?"

April could guess how Eliot was feeling from the sound of him, and she could understand. There were aspects of her own power which she was definitely having some issues coming to terms with herself. "I'll get you one," she said, standing up. "Get comfortable in the meantime."

G cursed loud and profusely as soon as Morgan's image faded from the room -- in part because Morgan had been in the room, the room he shared with Sam that was supposed to be where they could get away from outside eyes, even astral...spectral...whatever they were calling what Morgan just did. Having the man use his observations in an argument was one thing. Having him show up and be presented with visual proof in the form of G relaxing against Sam in bed while on the computer going over schematics for the plane they were renting for Savannah's honeymoon and planning security measures was another thing entirely.

"Fucking powers," he bit out, more irritated by the knowledge it was Spencer's power that necessitated Morgan use his power in the first place...and the irony that G was now using his power to get dressed and run downstairs, then outside, trusting that Sam would follow as back-up when he could. But, G wanted to be down there and putting a stop to this now before April and Spencer handed the government the key to Spencer's power on a silver fucking platter.

Luckily, the distance to the front yard wasn't far enough to tire him out the way training had so far. And, even with getting dressed and liberal cursing, he still beat Morgan by a couple seconds -- long enough to stop so the other lead would see him and for G to catch the interior lights from the car in front of April's house. Another short burst of speed had him standing at the front bumper of the car a second later, hand smacking the hood to get their attention. For a fraction of the next second he seriously wondered if it wouldn't be better to just put them out of everyone's misery when he realized neither the doctor nor the former special ops had thought to do anything to stop the flow of blood from the man's eyes, letting it just roll down his face.

"Have you lost your minds?!" Lowering his voice so they wouldn't draw attention from passing guards, he moved closer to April. "His power's manifesting and you're going to the hospital to put it all on record? What are you thinking? And why the hell are you just letting him bleed out while you transport him?"

April wasn't at all surprised at someone stopping them, though she had expected it to be Derek and not G. She was also surprised by the speed at how fast he'd got there, but right now she couldn't really care about that. Looking straight at him, she didn't hesitate or question herself as she helped Eliot get into the car and handed him a large pad of gauze and told him and Parker to keep it over his eyes in order to delay the bleeding.

"In case you haven't noticed, he's losing blood, blood coming from inside his eyes. It's not a matter of just putting bandages on and hoping this goes away, unless the bleeding stops he'll eventually bleed out. I need the hospital resources."

"Lie, make up a cover, some accident that damaged his eyes, I don't care, as long as I have the resources to treat him. You've kept other doctors away before, do it again." Because that she too realized, if another doctor examined Eliot they too would know that something wasn't normal.

Derek didn't have to wonder how the man get dressed and in the street that fast. He knew and the fact that he had used his power showed that they agreed on the importance of this. He also knew that April wouldn't respond to orders.

"This isn't a matter of lying or covering it up, April," he said, not mentioning that she was ready to leave without them and without a cover. "We need to stop the bleeding, yes, but you can't give him any blood. We don't know what this has done to us. This of this in terms of X Men. If that's what we are, using common blood will kill him. What are you going to do? Run tests to see if its compatible? He'll be dead before you have the answer. We need to keep him lying down, wound lower than the heart right?" He knew that she knew all of this, but April would always rely on hospitals as default, and they couldn't afford this. "You tell us what you might need and we'll get it from you, even if we have to steal it from the hospital, but we do it here. We can carry him inside. Get some plastic tarp for the floor, the painting kind we've been using. You can do it here. This is why we have you here. You need to think about what you need, and then let us help us, but he can't go to the hospital like this and the longer we stay here and argue, the worse it'll be."

At least she'd finally given the man something to stem the bleeding, G thought as Morgan joined them. But, it was a fleeting thought as he focused on April and getting her to back down.

"We didn't cover anything up before. We made sure you were the only one handling the scans and that they were destroyed. But, we didn't cover anything up. Fractured ribs from a skating accident is normal. It's hiding in plain sight. Anyone who saw us forgot we were there within a couple days. This? No matter what story you concoct, people are going to remember the man with the bleeding eyes. And, you don't know that this isn't part of getting his power, that it'll heal on it's own, that it won't, that it won't change and do something else. What if you've got him in the hospital and blood stops flowing from his eyes and they shoot fire instead?"

Casting around for a viable alternative because it didn't take a rocket scientist to know April would argue about proper care and Morgan was right about Spencer not having time for them to argue, G glanced at Spencer in the car and then back to April and Morgan. "The morgue," he decided, focusing more on Morgan now, as he bounced the idea off his fellow lead. "Vance and Hetty would have outfitted it with state of the art everything if they could get their hands on it. If you can use the equipment to study dead bodies, a lot of it should be usable on live bodies as well. Put all three in the backseat, Spencer lying across their laps -- out of sight and lying down. Take them in through the garage. No one sees him who's not one of us. And we've got the ambulance down there, we get him on a stretcher immediately, and take him in. Buy us time to plan if it turns out we really do need to try and steal other equipment from the hospital. That's not something even I want to try winging completely."

Derek could see that Callen was trying to reason with her despite the seriousness of the situation, but there was only so much talking that they could do. “No, Parker, get upfront. April, take her place. Spencer will be more comfortable that way an Parker can get you things from the bag if you need it.” No sense in having everyone unable to move.”

He looked up. “Sam is coming. We'll meet you there. Come on, let's go. We don't have time to waste.” He grabbed the car keys from April and waited for all of them to get inside, before driving them to the center. He went straight to the garage and when he got inside, he parked next to the ambulance. Derek jumped out of the car and grabbed the keys for the ambulance. He got the stretcher out and pull it up. “Parker, close the garage door as soon as Callen and Sam get here. Okay, Spencer, we need you to get you out of the car and on the stretcher. I know you can walk, but lying down is going to limit the blood loss. Ready?”

Sam wasn't sure if he was supposed to give the blood or not. It's not that he minded or he was squeamish, but he knew that they'd have to get rid of it if they didn't use it, and it made no sense to complicate their lives even more. Instead, he waited for April to visit Spencer again and when she said that the blood was decreasing, he assumed that there wouldn't be a need. With that out of the way, he concentrated on what she was saying, and how. Merciful Allah, if he ever got sick, he'd rather die that deal with her attempts at making him feel better. Too much sympathy made him twitch.

He snorted at Spencer's remark. He hated these powers with a passion. Despised them. Now they had more proof, but they could still focus on what was happening. "Until now, powers have manifested in strange ways. Savannah jumping from a rooftop, people doing weird things at weird moments. Spencer, are you sure that you can't see anything? Or maybe something else, maybe you can hear better, you can turn into a bat, who the fuck knows?" And yes, he really disliked superpowers.

"No, I can't see anything," Eliot growled, "but I'm still going to kill those scientists who created the damned rifts." Angry and aggitated, he really wasn't in the mood to try to decipher a power that wasn't readily apparent. "Goddamned freaking powers."

"Only if you can beat me to it," he answered. It wasn't that he didn't like this dimension. In fact, in a strange way, he loved that fact that he had his family here, that he'd found a way to make things work with G, but he still hated what the trip did to them.

"Maybe we need to wait. Let's make sure that there's no immediate medical danger and I'm sure that eventually we'll figure this out." He wondered if they might have to sic Deeks on Spencer. Maybe Deeks could get inside his head and find these damn powers.

April was still unsure of what to do, but one thing she did know was that Eliot couldn't stay here the entire night. "I want to monitor you closely," she said. "I'll get you cleaned up and we can go back to the house where you can sleep properly. I'll just pack a few things to bring with me." It wasn't ideal, but it would have to do.

She would have to figure out how to solve the situation once they were moved out of the house, but that was a later question. If he still needed monitoring by then he could take her room in the new place, or they could get a bed for the spare bedroom.
