Thread: Carol Danvers and OT
Characters: Carol Danvers, some Area 51 NPCs (guards and scientists) and OT Nick Fury, Captain America and Tony Stark
Setting: Carol's contain ment chamber → Area 51, NV (Spooky, right?)
Content: A for Awesome
Summary: Carol is waiting to find out the results of all her tests whether a.) she has cancer or b.) now causes cancer. She's trying to be patient while she waits in quarantine, but is having little success. Enter in Team SHIELD/Team Avengers ready to recruit her.
Carol Danvers - Major Danvers - ace pilot extraordinaire had been enjoying an illustrious career as Area 51's top test pilot - had been. That is until an accident of epic proportion had grounded her about a week ago.
She had been mid-flight when the turbine of her jet, which had been created from the alien tech had gone nuclear. She had been in the plane when it exploded, with everyone watching in horror as one of their pilots (and a billion dollar prototype) went white hot and blew up. The fallout that the turbine had caused had been so great that, for the first time in its history, the entire facility needed to be evacuate until a containment crew could investigate and clean up the mess. They weren't expecting to find much at the crash site, certainly not a body and certainly not one in tact. Imagine everyone's surprise when Carol had been discovered buried beneath a pile of rubble with not even a scratch on her. Alive!
After reviving the Major, she had been more or less compliant with Area 51's decision to keep her quarantined until they could determine what exactly was wrong with her. Really had no other alternative. Disobeying direct orders would be seen as insubordination and an attempt at escape was treason, even for someone that could punch their way out of a containment cell. Which, if today was like yesterday, she was pretty sure that she could still bench press a tank. And if she was poisonous? This was the best option, she didn't need to be on the loose causing innocent people, civilians, cancer.
With as many ground agents as SHIELD it didn't take long before news of what happened at Area 51 reached its director. Quite the opposite really, especially when the APB he had received said things like "possible situation with a meta-human" and "awaiting further directive."
They kept her cozy, in between tests, as cozy as a reinforced lead box could be. No one got in or out without the proper clearance. Most everyone stood outside while they conducted their tests to determine her new skill set. Carol had been in quarantine a little more than a week and she was getting very restless. She didn't know what was worse, being captured in Afghanistan or waiting to hear that she had cancer with only days left to live. Truth of the matter was, they knew almost after day one that she wasn't radioactive. They just wanted to keep her on ice until decisions about how to proceed could be made.
They told her "specialists" were here to talk to her. What she heard was "oncologists." What she heard was cancer, over and over again. Preparing for the worst and releasing some of her tension, Carol was doing push-ups while she waited.
