Sean had called the meeting two hours ago over the shipwide system. He'd send word through the intranet as well.
He stepped up to the podium that had been set on the stage. Looking out over the audience was mildly hindered by the spotlight, but the seats were far from filled. Even with a good number of the remaining passengers here, thee numbers were about two hundred and some on board still. "First, the good news. Just a short while ago tonight, two people were married in the chapel. Jean-Baptiste Calvert and Adelia Zora Forster took their vows. Any happy news these days is welcomed."
Sean gripped either side of the podium and leaned forward, trying to look at each face the lights would alow. "Now for the business. Okay folks, we can't fool around anymore. We have a little over a dozen security volunteers. Not enough to patrol us all spread out. We have no choice. We ARE moving to the A and B decks. That's where security will roam. Making sure all rooms on a floor are full also means you have neighbors on either side to go to for help. A and B decks are most defendible. The staterooms are the same general size as the ones we have now, diminished only by a small kitchen area. It isn't as fancy as our current rooms. No vases or flowers, but they'll be comfortable. The rest of the ship will be as usual during the daytime. It is still suggested that you stay in groups during the day, but other than that, do what you want short of grabbing fire axes and trying to otherwise endanger yourselves or others."
Sean took a deep breath. This was the part he really disliked. It went against the grain of his whole being, however; it was needed. "If you refuse to move, then you're on your own at night. we can't spare the security detail and with most people moving for increased safety, you'll be more isolated. We can't force you to move. The choice is yours. But people are still dissapearing."
And there's a killer out there. He'll know the people who don't move are more vulnerable. Sean couldn't be everywhere at once. This was individual choice.
