Cormac wass nervous. Sure he had asked her before. But it didn't feel that real. So now he was nervous. Feeling the ring he had picked for her burning a hole in his pocket, figuratively speaking. But a fancy restaurant seemed like a good place to ask her. And after all he looked very good in expensive clothing. After all there was nothing wrong with being good-looking.
Part of him hated to acknowledge that he was a dad. Of three, maybe four kids. But the two on the island with him where the best kids he could want to know. He had told Rain what he was planning to do. And the boy had been encouraging. But somehow he himself didn't feel that way. But he readied himself to use his bravado as a defense mechanism. He didn't want Meg to know how nervous he really was, since he was certan she'd figure it out then and there.
