Kastra was absolutely exhausted. Despite the forethought and preparation that she had put into maintaining her act and writing her confession, it had taken a lot out of her. True, she had expected varying reactions from those around her, and as she was the daughter of two politicians, being the center of conversation was not something to which she was unaccustomed. Nevertheless, she spent the night of her confession tossing in turning in bed, rather than actually sleeping. Keeping up an act was mentally draining; thinking about the results of such an act was even worse, no matter how expected they may be.
She knew to anticipate the whispers and stares. News traveled fast, especially in Hogwarts, so even those who may not have seen her announcement were aware of the gossip. As Kastra walked into the Great Hall for dinner, she made an effort to keep her head high and her eyes straight ahead. If she knew anything from her experience with politics and publicity, it was that scandals usually passed. True, they were often remembered and difficult to live down, but she knew that the newness of her announcement would wear off before too long, and she wouldn't have to deal with the unsettled whispers that fell over the Great Hall as she walked toward the Slytherin table once that finally happened.
Whether or not the members of the resistance movement trusted her, while definitely a concern of Kastra's, was not the most pressing issue on her mind. Rather, she couldn't stop thinking about her fathers - Albus, in particular. His disappointment was painful and upsetting. She wondered how her father Gellert was handling the situation, the things he was saying to keep in role. She knew they mustn't be pleasant. It was necessary for him to play a role as well, and part of that role involved a pretense of anger and disappointment.
Sitting at the far end of the table, Kastra eyed the food with little interest. She would stay strong and continue to fulfill her duty, even if it meant discomfort. Her fathers had raised her to remain strong, even in the face of undesirable circumstances. She had no doubt that her time spent labeled as a traitor would be far from easy, but she was prepared to suffer through the discomfort for a greater, more important purpose.
