"That's okay," Kastra replied, matching her smile as warmly as she could manage. "I understand. Besides, it's nice not to be recognized sometimes. It's gets tiring, being constantly gawked at." She nodded in the direction of a fellow sixth year who was doing just that, sitting at the next table.
Alice didn't seem particularly shocked or dismayed - at least not outwardly - and Kastra didn't quite know how to take that. Maybe Alice was apathetic when it came to politics. Or maybe she was just scared of offending the chancellor's daughter. The latter would have been quite reasonable, were it a couple of days earlier.
"Anyway, it's nice to meet you. Sorry to see that you're distressed, though. I do hope everything is alright."
