Who: Lorna and Forge
What: Turn off your...tech, it's giving me a headache!
When: Thursday evening
Where: Forge's Room
Rating: PGish, unless something change or F-bombs start getting dropped...

Lorna's headaches had all but vanished, and working with Magneto had done a lot. The sluggish feeling that followed the 'cure' was pretty much gone, but some things did still bother her. She swore she could feel someone microwave popcorn halfway across the mansion.

So things still did bother her. Just not to the point of doubling over in pain and wishing she was dead.

Lorna was starting to sporting a bit of a headache, however, and knocked on the door of where she had tracked the source to. She would try to keep this polite. Because she was, she reasoned, a nice person. Most of the time.

"Well then." he said while trying to remember this girl's name. You'd think he'd remember a green-haired chick's name, but noooooo.

Dammit!

"Well, Magnet Lass, I'm sorry if my stuff bugs you. Put up with it for a few hours and I'll cage it for you. You do know what a Faraday cage is, right?" he asked hopefully.

She probably didn't. To her, Faraday was probably some soap opera star she'd fantasize about.

"Patronize me and I'll turn it off anyway," Lorna said dryly. He was really, really getting on her nerves, "Yes, I know what it is. Definition: A Faraday cage or Faraday shield is an enclosure formed by conducting material or by a mesh of such material. Such an enclosure blocks out external static electric fields. Faraday cages are named after the English scientist Michael Faraday, who invented them in 1836," Lorna said, her tone unamused at best.

"Not my fault most girls are complete and utter morons." he grumbled. "It also does a really good job of keeping fields _in_." he added as he adjusted his weight to put more of it on his artificial leg. ""Stay out of my way and I'll cage my stuff." he said, moving towards his workbench with the partially-assembled leg on it.

He'd totally have to re-do the design now. Dammit!

"Funny, I thought the 'stupid' title normally belonged to boys," Lorna returned. In fact, it still did as far as she was concerned. After all, she wouldn't make the assumption that someone she was in high level math classes with didn't know various science concepts.

"How long will caging it take?"

"I told you, a few hours. You want me to lock everything up in cages, it's gonna take me time." he pointed out. "Could make yourself useful, go grab me a Red Bull and a sammich." he said absently as his brain started to give him the formulae, the precise equations to best reduce E-M flux in his leg design without compromising weight, tensile strength, or performance.

Lorna snapped. She wasn't even fully aware of what she was doing until it was too late to stop the EMP that followed. He was a jerk, yes, but he didn't need all of his stuff fried.

And that's all it should have been too, normally. Just a wiped hard drive and some messed up circuits. Things that were, relatively, easy to fix.

Unfortunately for Lorna, she had no idea that Forge had electronics wired directly into his nervous system. He spasmed and collapsed, his left hand splayed in a very, very unnatural angle, his leg locked up absolutely solid.

Her EMP also managed to wipe his portable music player, the overhead lights, both of their watches, and lit up the local mag-field like a beacon.

Lorna really, really hadn't expected that to happen. Her first knee jerk reaction was to run away and hide. Which would've left Forge on the floor writhing. And while he was a complete and total jerk, he really didn't deserve that.

Secondly, she was going to be in massive trouble for this anyway. Or so she was very, very sure. And fleeing the scene of the crime would just make things worse. Or it had always been that way in her experience. Besides, there wasn't anyway to out run guilt.

"Oh my god! What happened?!" she exclaimed, followed by, "I'm so sorry!"

Forge was trying to recover from the sudden and massive onset of direct pain by nerve induction. His everything hurt. He whimpered and tried to curl into a fetal ball until the world ended or until he did, but his now-dead-weight leg wouldn't bend to accomodate it.

So he did the best he could and hoped somewhere in the dim recesses that this wasn't the part where she beat the shit out of him.

Stupid Forge. He'd actually contemplated believing that this place would be different.

Lorna didn't beat the shit out of him. That thought didn't even cross her mind. She had already done enough damage. What she was trying to do was help him up, and if that didn't work she'd go and get someone before running and hiding in her closet.

"I'm so sorry! I really didn't mean to do that," she tried explaining, "It happens... sometimes. Are you okay? Can you get up? I can go get help..."
