She had been out of town all weekend. Dinah had come home and done laundry and other menial chores around the house before she finally sat down (with a groan) and turned on the news. Upon seeing that Jonathan Crane had been abducted from Arkham, Dinah knew she had to take action. After all, he had told her that his sister was being threatened by Scarecrow; and now with his abduction... could the Scarecrow and the Riddler be working together? Was Crane in danger now too?
She didn't know-- and the only way to find out would be to go back to Arkham... but Dinah couldn't afford to go in alone again. She's had her butt nearly handed to her the last time she went in, not because of a lack of skill but by the sheer numbers and powerful weaponry of the enemy. No, if she was going back to Arkham, she'd need back up.
Oracle still didn't know that she'd gone to Arkham (or if she knew she hadn't said anything) and Dinah didn't even consider going to her for help, not this time, not even if her superhero Rolodex was thick enough to be its own phone book. No, this was her mess, and she'd find her own back up.
After she had changed into her costume, Dinah jumped on her bike and took off to the one place from her childhood that she still associated with safety, no matter how old she got. The same place that she somehow knew He would be-- the Gotham City Police Department Headquarters.
Dinah didn’t bother going in- that would raise too many questions given her costume, and the fact that it used to be her father’s home away from home. Jim Gordon was bound to recognize her if he saw her. So instead she climbed up the fire escape, pausing before she reached the roof to make sure no unsuspecting officer was hiding up there. It was empty- as far as she could see- aside from the Batsignal.
She didn’t turn it on-- it was only for emergencies, but she did stand behind it and kept scanning the darkness and shadows.
“I don’t know how this works,” She started, talking to seemingly no one, “but I know you’re there. I found something.” She paused for a minute to see if anything had happened- almost like someone evoking a supernatural force; which a lot of people believed Him to be. She tried again, “I need your help.”
