Who: Bruce, Clark, Tony
NPC: Alfred Pennyworth
Where: The Cave, Wayne Manor, Gotham, NJ
When: About a week after this happened.
What: Bruce has been brooding after finally seeing Jason face to face. Alfred calls for backup.
Note: To all Cave-Users - From the period after 2/2 - through this point, Bruce has had the Cave on lockdown; no one in or out but him, and he isn't talking to anyone. I leave it up to you what your characters did during that week, whether you were stuck without access to costumes/equipment, or whether he came back before you on 2/2, closed up shop, and you've had your stuff with you all that time, so you could still go patrolling. Depends on how much you wanted his funk to affect you. He did patrol during this period, but would have avoided you like a vampire avoids sunlight (not the sparkly kind).
Alfred Pennyworth had known Bruce Wayne since he'd taught him how to fight schoolyard thugs using his brain instead of his fists at the precocious age of six. While he would be the first to assert that know one really knew the true depths of his master's mind, he did not feel himself too cavalier when he said he knew Master Bruce better than anyone else. So when the younger man came home one late night, after an evening of vigilante derring-do, and proceeded forthwith to entomb himself in the sepulchral confines of his Cave, Alfred knew something was amiss.
This may seem a logical assumption, but one must take into consideration the subject under discussion. It was not unusual for Master Bruce to withdraw from society - polite or otherwise - allowing no one to enter his sanctum sanctorum until he was finished with whatever pursuit absorbed his fancy. The days passed, yet not even this was irregular; but there was something about this self-imposed exile that worried Alfred more than usual.
"He won't respond to anyone's attempts to speak with him, nor will he let anyone inside," he told the two gentlemen who answered his summons when he finally called in for assistance. "I could almost believe he wasn't in there at all if I weren't receiving alerts to his comings and goings when he leaves for his nightly outings." Alfred stared at the longbox clock in the entrance hall, eyes filled with concern. "I fear something quite distressing may have happened." Master Bruce was a solitary man by nature, and occasionally distanced himself even more, but something was wrong this time - Alfred could feel it. No explanation, no words to his team - his son? Selina?
"If anyone has a hope of reaching him, physically and... on other levels," Alfred said delicately. "It's the two of you. Please do what you are able."
