Two of the Greatest Egos
Who: Dr. Doom and Lex Luthor (probably an unhappy Mercy, too)
When: November 10th, 2012, dusk
Where: LexCorp Tower, Metropolis
What: A long-due visit.
Rating: PG-ish
It seemed a theme with Lex Luthor's Metropolis office. Villains showed up, uninvited and without permission. The ruler of Latveria, however, had given him at least the politeness most did not bother with--he let him know he would be showing up, and at what time.
Dr. Doom did not bother with the doors or clever sneaking in from outside. The sun was setting fully in a dark orange sky when the security devices picked up some camouflaged robots scanning his building outside the large windows. Seconds later, the portal opened. The air shimmered like heat waves, the lights dimmed as glowing glyphs circled in the air, creating a glowing red disc. An easy step and there the armored man stood.
He lifted an alloy-covered finger, a silent gesture. The lights remained dimmed as the portal wavered in the air, casting the office in the glow of its red and the orange of the sunset. A small device came from the inside of his belt, the size and dimensions of a writing pen. Doom tilt his head, judging the size of the room, then gave the top of it an audible click. There was a strange... not sound, but something seemed to vibrate at the ears nonetheless, as though there were a heavy hum just outside of human hearing range. The lord of Latveria paced forward, setting the simple metal device on the desk. It stood on its end, quite unreasonably. A gesture of his hand and the portal shimmered into nothing.
Only then did he turn his full attention on Lex Luthor, arms folded. The light was starting to become normal in the room once more. "Now that privacy is established, I believe some congratulations concerning your election are in order." His tone of voice did not betray whether he was pleased or not with this event, the European accent tracing it just as surely as the metallic echo.
