Who: Batman and Damian Wayne
Where: Gotham, NJ
When: June 5, 2012 - Late
What: Batman finally meets the boy claiming to be his son.
Rating: Um. PG-13?
Once the funeral was taken care of, Batman had been able to begin his search for the boy who had broken into the Batcave in earnest. He knew the League of Assassins well - knew their methods, their patterns - it wasn't difficult for him to do a little searching for signs the boy might have left behind. He was chagrined to find more than he expected. Rumors, sightings, yes, but the memory of a massacre he'd been looking into suddenly returned to him and the familiar link he'd been unable to pinpoint seemed disturbingly clearer now. Batman could only hope he was wrong.
As he move through the city, stopping only to perform his usual duty of fighting whatever criminals he came across, Batman found himself having trouble focusing. The last week had been one of the most eventful of his life, and yet he felt like he was moving in slow motion, his mind crawling at a less than helpful pace. A son. A large part of him hoped it wasn't true. It had nothing to do with duty or responsibility - he had taken in more than his share of children and he was even now willing to take in yet another orphan - he just had no business raising a child. He had made so many mistakes with them in his past, he didn't want to make anymore.
And the implications of having had a child with Talia al Guhl raised their own set of questions. How had he gone so many years without knowing? Why, after the event in which the boy would have been created, had he not thought to make sure that such a thing had not happened? He was always so careful - why, after that one night in which his control had been taken from him - had he not thought to follow up?
Sloppy. He had been careless, and now it appeared he may have give Talia and Ra's exactly what they'd wanted from him. It explained why they'd hounded him less in the years since then; they already had their heir. If the boy was here in Gotham, what did it mean? Where were Talia and her father and why let him know about the child now, thirteen years later?
He wouldn't get any answers until he found the boy. Batman kept looking.
