WHO: Freyr, Friar Tuck, Freya if she's there
WHEN: Saturday afternoon
WHERE: Freyr's
WHAT: Visits
WARNINGS: TBA

Ever since Freyr's post, Tuck had worried about the other man. Sure they didn't know each other very well, but Tuck had really appreciated the donations to his foodbank, and he had enjoyed Freyr's company. As such, he had mixed up a poultice to ease joint pain, just as Freyr had asked. He had also baked some Norwegian grovbrød, as well as krumkaker with lingonberry preserves even though Freyr had told him there was no need to. Tuck would be Tuck.

He messaged the other man to let him know he was coming, as Freyr had requested. Then he went to the address Freyr had provided and buzzed up.

"Then I am very pleased to meet you," Freyr nodded to Tuck in welcome, putting a hand to his breast and a short bow. "I suppose you already know who I am, but I am Freyr of the Vanir, for what it's worth. I suppose, since I have revealed my truth now, you can give me your opinion. How honest do you think I should be about what happened? I feel like it would worry a lot of people to know a creature can steal their identity. You seem to be taking it well enough."

"It happens a bit in the Good Book," Tuck said. "The Bible's a bit full of things like that. Though...seeing the way it affects people is vastly different to reading it. Some people very dear to me were held captive about half a year ago. While they were there, there was a demon who could take different forms. It made them believe their father had died in front of them, when he was alive and well. So it isn't new to me, though no less horrifying for that. For others, it may be quite the shock, yes."

He considered, for a moment, the crux of the question. "It may worry people, but forewarned is forearmed, yes? If they are aware of it, this thing might have less chance to catch someone unaware."

Freyr grimaced in sympathy to Tuck's story. "I hope that it would help. I don't know if it would have made a difference in my case." He chewed his bread thoughtfully. "This is very good, by the way. But the demon took on the guise of a woman I was sleeping with, and attacked me in my sleep. Next thing I know I was tied up in my own basement."

He hadn't even mentioned the worst part yet. He took a drink of coffee and tried to prime himself to talk about it.

"I'm glad you like it, god knows you deserve something nice after that," Tuck huffed. "What a cowardly, dreadful thing to do to someone."

Freyr nodded slowly. "It isn't even the worst part," he said, his voice low. "I've spent most of the last six months as a corpse. Every time I came back..." He drew his thumb across his throat. "Too much effort to keep me alive. Too risky for it. Freyja would've known in an instant if I'd been alive and she came close." He shuddered, feeling a little cold. "I do not wish that on anybody else."

Horror roiled in Tuck's stomach. Awful, twisted images of his own resuscitation bubbling to the surface of his mind, refusing to dissipate, floating there behind his eyes like oil on water. He had only had to suffer through that once. And he had thought that and three weeks in the sheriff's dungeon was bad-

"Freyr-" Tuck murmured, when his mouth could form words, "that's honestly one of the most horrifying things I have heard in a good long time. I'm so sorry you went through that."

Freyr didn't try to smile it off, but he acknowledged Tuck's sympathy. "I am still in the early days," he said seriously. "Having friends will help, I think, while I piece together what exactly has been made of my life. I don't wish to upset you, I hope you will be alright?"

A smile graced Tuck's lips then, even if it was smaller than usual. "You seem like a kind man, and one I would be glad to call friend," Tuck acknowledged. "I'll be fine. I was killed almost a year ago, and the coming back was- It was horrible. I suppose I was thinking of having to do that over and over."

Tuck shook his head, "I have a friend, an angel, who might be able to shed some light on your situation, should you want to ever go down that route. His name is also Michael."

"Oh, I've heard of the angel Michael." Freyr did have a slightly disapproving look on his face, because after all, Christianity did spell the end of his religion, but it was hardly Michael's fault. "You died recently? Then yes, you would have some idea of what I have experienced. What help do you think the angel would be?"

"If it was a Christian demon, Michael might know something about it. How to find him. How to keep him well away." Tuck had noticed the look and he added, "I was held captive recently. Michael was there to rescue me. He's a good man."

"As you say," Freyr said, accepting his word. "Perhaps I will then." He picked up his coffee again and let himself relax a bit against the sofa. "I know that you Merry Men are tight-knit in the stories. It's times like these we should be thankful for our families. My Freyja is the fighter, without her... well, things are a lot less exciting."

Thinking of his family could always pull a smile from Tuck, and now was no different. "I am always grateful for them," he nodded. "My boyfriend, Will Scarlet, he's more of a fighter than I am. And all of them definitely make things more exciting!"

"Boyfriend? Oh, good for you." Freyr had the horrified thought for a moment that the demon might have done things with his body and face that he certainly wasn't prepared for himself. The gays were fine, he just wasn't one. "We don't all need to be fighters, do we? The world has a place for all of us to get by."

"Absolutely," Tuck agreed. He truly felt for what Freyr had been through. He was going to make an effort to keep in touch with the man to make sure he was alright.
