Jesse and JJ had just been talking about how things had been going well for the most part, and Nicholas felt like the worst boyfriend ever having to ruin all of that. He also knew if he didn't tell anyone and Jesse found out, he would likely have a heart attack and Nicholas couldn't have that.

He moved to their bedroom after putting Bastian down for a nap, only to see JJ performing what was likely the most erotic dance he had ever seen. Jesse was located on the edge of the bed a few feet away from JJ who had clearly shed most of her clothes during the dance as she was only wearing her knickers, the rest of her clothing discarded in a circle around her. "Oh hey!" she said happily as she spied him in the doorway. "Awesome timing, you want to edge Jesse? Don't let him cum though, I want to do that! He has to beg."

Nicholas would normally have dived right into that, but instead he chewed on his lip and stayed where he was. "I can watch instead," he suggested, not wanting to interrupt their fun.

JJ leaned up and kissed his cheek before running around the van again so she could climb in.

The drive was tense, but in no way worse than sitting in the waiting room without Nicholas. JJ was fairly sure she had chewed her nails down to the quick while their poor boyfriend was having test after test performed on him.

"I'm scared," she admitted to Jesse, because she had to. "I'm so scared."

	There, curled up against Jesse's chest, she started to cry softly. Nicholas had been so thoroughly wasted by the time they got him back last year. He hadn't looked like himself at all. 	JJ lapsed into silence, letting Jesse console her. JJ had expected a doctor to come fetch them, breaking the news that Nicholas had some terrible disease or that he was somehow dying. Instead Nicholas himself wandered back out into the waiting room, looking confused and upset. "They- They couldn't find anything," he whispered as he took a seat beside them. 	Jesse fell silent as well, because he couldn't really think of anything else to say. He looked up when he heard Nicholas' voice, confusion and concern all over his face. Nicholas groaned and he leaned his head against Jesse's shoulder. "They took a bunch of blood and they are going to get back to me in a few days about a few tests, but they said they don't think anything is going to turn up on them. They said they couldn't find a thing wrong with me other than the fact that I am still healing and will be for years. Fuck, I'm so hungry. I feel sick with it."

	The ride home was even more tense than the ride there, but once home JJ headed straight to the kitchen to make some food. She had to keep herself busy or lose her mind worrying. They couldn't lose Nicholas, not like this. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Jesse helped Nicholas inside and into the kitchen, settling him onto a stool before sitting down next to him. He laid his head down on his arms, feeling very tired, scared, and helpless. He literally had no idea what to do.

Ceridwen had heard the door open and close, and after checking that Bastian was settled in his crib, she padded downstairs. "How did it go?" she asked, looking around at the three of them.

	"It went shit," JJ hissed as she heated up some jambalaya. She was heading out the second Nicholas was back in bed, and she was going to shoot herself so full of drugs, she'd never come down. "I'm so sorry, Nicholas," Ceridwen said softly. "I can look in some books I have, see if there's something else I might be able to do. It might be a bit of a long shot, but I can still look."

The hairs on the back of her neck stood up, and she looked around. Her mental shields were still down from examining Nicholas earlier, and she turned slowly until she was looking at JJ. "JJ," she said, tilting her head curiously. "Are you feeling alright?"
