WHO: Jayden Delacroix
WHAT: Just slowly dying
WHEN: The three days leading up to nowish
WHERE: A cheap motel
WARNINGS: Post-abduction badness

In the days after his father abandoned him, Jayden knew it was what he deserved. Jayden's brother had lied to him about his father's death and his father had come for him, and the moment his father had been around Jayden long enough to remember just how worthless he was, he had left. Unfortunately for Jayden, he had been left cuffed to the bed and gagged so he couldn't leave the room or even call for help.

His breath was loud in his ears as he lay there with only his self-loathing thoughts for company. He struggled against the bonds for a while, but it was pointless and all it did was tire him out. He tried to scream from behind the gag, but it hurt his throat and it was nowhere near loud enough for anyone to hear over the clanky heating system in the motel.

Not that the heat was on in Jayden's room. The vents had been closed and the chill seeped through his skin, settling in his bones and making them ache. He managed to shift himself so he was under the blankets, but it was all he could do.

Whether he deserved to be abandoned or not, Jayden still cried. He knew he was wasting precious moisture, but he couldn't help it. He was so scared he was going to die, and why wouldn't he? No one in the entire world cared enough about him to find him.

And so he laid there for three days while his moments of consciousness became fewer and farther between. Perhaps that was a mercy, considering how thirsty he was. The hunger had been bad, sure, but he had done worse to himself. He was used to it. He lost the little weight he had struggled so hard to gain and it didn't matter that much to him. The thirst raged and burned in his throat and turned his tongue into an arid, sticky thing, useless in his mouth; so dry he actually thought it might crack.

He had lost consciousness again when he was finally found by a maid who had gotten curious about the strong smell of stale urine and feces coming from the room. To say she was shocked to find a chained up boy, unconscious and lying in his own filth was an understatement.

Consciousness didn't return to him as he was rushed to hospital, nor when he went into a seizure as he was being cleaned up. They did what they could for him, the little unclaimed boy in the emergency room. Given the state of him, his doctors actually assumed he had been abducted months ago. The police were called, but the little John Doe didn't match any reports.

And still Jayden slept, unconscious for another day.

When he finally woke up, Jayden glanced around the stark white room. It wasn't familiar, but it wasn't the motel. Oh god, where was he?!

Even though there was no power behind it, Jayden immediately started to fight the tubes in his arm and nose. When nurses rushed to hold him down, he tried to fight them too, screams ripping his tender throat. Only when he was sedated did he relax against the mattress. It was still another few hours before anyone could even ask his name. And when they finally did, they were able to call his next of kin.

The one person Jayden knew he couldn't trust.

"Oh holy crap," JJ said, basically about everything. She turned to Adrian and Isaiah and moved to hug them. Adrian complied because he was so shocked he didn't have time not to. "Hey, I'm JJ, Jesse's girlfriend. I'm so glad you guys are here."

"I feel like we just walked into a very strange movie," Adrian replied.

"Oh man, I know the feeling," JJ replied. She moved to hug Lena and plant a kiss on her cheek. "So a demon who can change faces, huh? Fucked up. I can ask Naamah about it."

Jayden was only catching about every other word, but he was holding tightly to Jesse's hand anyway. "'m so tired," he managed to murmur.

Isaiah hugged her back, because it was the most normal thing he'd done all day. "Yeah, you and me both, Ade," he agreed, shaking his head.

"Please do," Jesse said. "Because lord knows she'll know more than us, given that she's...who she is."

"I don't even want to know, do I?" Isaiah asked.

"No, probably not," Jesse sighed. "Jay, you can sleep if you want to. I can stay here, if you want, and I'll be here when you wake up."

"No," Jayden insisted as strongly as he could. "No, I- Hungry."

Thankfully for Jayden, Nicholas returned with a bag full of food, and a carrying tray full of coffees. JJ moved to help him, relieving him of the coffees.

"I got some of everything," Nicholas said, placing the bag on the bed and letting Jesse handle it.

"Ah, excellent timing," Jesse said, smiling up at him. "Thank you, cher." He dug into the bag and found a sandwich for himself and one for Jayden, putting his brother's on the tray table over the bed. "You want any water, Jay?" he asked.

Jayden nodded and JJ moved to help prop him up so he could eat better. His arms had been chained for three days and his muscles ached so much his hands were shaking. "Yes please," Jayden said, ever polite, as he ripped a piece of the sandwich off slowly and uneasily, and then popped it into his mouth.

"I got it," Isaiah said softly. He found a cup on the counter across the room, filling it from the sink and passing it to Jayden. He took his chair again next to Adrian, snagging a coffee from JJ as he sat back down.

Jesse tried his best not to inhale his own sandwich, because apparently worrying had given him quite the appetite. "God, my head hurts," he muttered to himself.

"Mine too," Adrian said, raising his hand a little, like a dork.

Jayden gulped the water down immediately and then managed a few more bites of sandwich before seemingly giving up and leaning back against the pillows.

"You're not leaving right away are you?" Jayden asked Adrian and Isaiah. "I miss you. I miss you ev'ry day."

"I think Advil all around once we get home," Jesse said. "Gods know I could use some."

"I have to go back to Boston for school, unfortunately," Isaiah said sadly. "I'll probably have to leave Sunday morning. Maybe Monday, if my 'flu' doesn't get better." He made the obligatory air quotes. "I miss you too, Jay. Missed you every day since I left."

Jayden watched Isaiah for a moment, his face dark. "When you left he locked me in my room for almost two days. Told me I'd never be worth enough to leave. There was no one to talk to." Jayden frowned and looked away from all of them.

Isaiah felt like he'd been punched in the gut. "Jay, I'm-I'm so sorry. But I just-I couldn't stay there." The lump in his throat made it hard to speak, and now was not the time or place to bring up why he had left.

"I don't know what else I can say, besides the fact that you are worth enough to leave, and you did."

"Not your fault," Jayden said because he didn't want his brothers to feel guilty for leaving. "I was just so alone. And I was in that motel room too. There was no one and just my thoughts. For days. Thought I would die there."
