Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood:distressed
Current music:"Demons" by Imagine Dragons
Entry tags:ariadne, dionysus, theseus

Who: Theseus and Ariadne [maybe Dionysus later]
What: It's just drinks
When: Saturday
Where: Naxos

Theseus admitted the moment he stepped up to the door of Naxos he felt a shudder shoot down his spine. It was cold and a little too much like déjà vu. With the way he'd been running from Olympians (mainly his father) Theseus didn't feel anyone was on his side anymore. He had wiggled his way into a heaping mess and actually felt shit about it. He was in so deep now he wasn't sure there was a way to get out of it. He'd become a toy for two forces, Lust and Poseidon, but he'd dragged that mud around until it ruined someone else's life. He'd only met her a few times, his granddaughter but the reminder behind what he'd taken away from her was greater than some ancient necklace Poseidon wanted to get ahold of. He wasn't good at making amends with matters of the heart, it was a surprise Theseus even had one. He usually left his baggage at the door and kept going. This was the first time he was actually dragging it around with him.

He wasn't sure why he'd agreed to meet Ariadne. He didn't assume any good could come of this either, not with her husband probably a few feet away. He'd known for thousands of years that Dionysus was just looking for an excuse to rip him to shreds. Hell, he wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a slew of Maenads hanging out at the club ready to draw and quarter him. But, the chivalrous man inside of him still took the bait and went forward. He'd already been physically and mentally beaten, his rope was too short now to pull himself out. What was the worst that would happen? Death? Or a reminder that he was still a decent man under his cowardice?

She took him to a separate room and sat him down again. "Sit down." She'd deal with Dionysus in her own way. She'd always been stubborn and he'd only encouraged this. Sometimes she wondered if Dionysus forgot how human she could be.

She took out some cloth and some disinfectant and began cleaning the wounds. "Damn stubborn Olympian. He really just can't let go. Talk about taking after fathers." She shook her head. "He won't bother you, trust me. I know how to deal with his moods."

He was magnetized to the seat she put him in. She'd treated him just as kindly once. Once he was out from under his own sarcastic mask he was easy to be around. It's the reason he'd been able to be a King once, even if people would continue to badmouth him. They had good reason.

He winced at the sting with a suck in of air through his teeth. "I'm not hallucinating still am I?" He wasn't sure this was real or not.

She smiled at him, "no. Not this time." Gently she continued cleaning his wounds until the last bit was done. Then she rose and sighed. "Feel free to stay here until you feel better. I'm going to go argue with my husband."

"Good, that wasn't the best hallucination." He put a hand to his cheek where she had doctored it, giving a friendly smirk even as she sauntered out of the room. He took the opportunity to kick up his feet and relax, well as best he could in the bar owned by a jealous Olympian. It was better than Poseidon right now, that's all he could say. He'd needed a long overdue break from his father.

Dionysus was at the bar serving drinks to the pretty girls (and boys) that walked in, his wine like a perfume in the air. He wasn't leaving tonight knowing that trash was still here. He was upset and like a child reacted just as juvenile. He was worried he'd lose her, and he didn't deal with loss like a normal person.

Sighing she walked to Dionysus and took his hand. "We're going to talk." She didn't leave much argument, tugging him into the back and closing the door.

"You can't do that." She crossed her arms, "stop being your father Dionysus. Or worse, Hera. Theseus came here because he needed help, not to whisk me away. Don't be petty and lash out because you have a grudge. He hurt me, and I got over that. I forgave him and moved on. But if you continue acting like this, I won't talk to you. My door will be closed. Stop being threatened by something that can't hurt you."

"That's the point he hurt you." Dionysus had never gotten to lash out with that anger even if it had come before him. He tried to reach for her but it seemed she'd have known of it, her body language was like a brick wall. He was taking the defense and not listening to reason---and at the same time wanted to please her---but this was something he had a hard time gripping. He was as much his father's son as Theseus was Poseidon's. Hera had infused Dionysus early on with that kind of mental madness, he wasn't thinking with logic.

"You're saying you're going to continue being 'friends' with him?" That unnerved him.

She rolled her eyes. He was just so stubborn some days. "You don't get to take revenge for that. Besides according to tales it was you who told him to do that." She gave him a challenging look, "and I never asked if there was truth to it. Don't make me start. Let it go."

"I'm allowed to be friends with whom I please Dionysus. I never question you. So if you want to come home to me, consider your actions."

There was the challenge, but Dionysus still wasn't sure he could just let it go. She had befriended a poet once that showered her with attention, she couldn't blame him for the worry---but he was stubborn.

"I'm not okay with it." They'd lived peacefully until Theseus showed up. It was driving a wedge between them already.

She raised an eyebrow. "I'm not okay with your many other lovers, but I accept it. I understand it is a part of you. You can now learn to understand that I have compassion. That I consider Theseus a friend and that I will help him. Or we'll talk about the various things I'm not okay with."
