Who: Cerberus, Charon (at the beginning), and Pheme
When: Friday Night
Where: School
What: Sadie Hawkins Dance, first french kiss :3
Status: Complete

Xander's leg bounced up and down at what seemed like 50 miles a second as he sat in the car. Pheme had said this was what a 'date-date' was, so he was super nervous. His hands fidgited with the small plastic container that held a delicate blood red flower on a black ribbon. Like any of his clothes even his suit was black on black, the lapel a soft black satin.

Looking at Charon, he wondered if having a driver really did impress people. Would others at the dance have one? Was it not normal to have one? He adored Charon, the man had never given him a reason not to, but would Pheme? Would she like any of them? He didn't know how the other Greeks viewed any of the Underworld. He had nevered needed to care.

The warmth only spread faster when she rubbed his back. "I never did drinking... before." He eventually caught his breath, but his coughing fit caught the attention of one of the teachers. "Everything alright here?" They asked softly. The teacher had been one that sat in on his interview when he 'transferred' to the school, his 'unique' situation with his personality disorder got him sympathy from some but suspicion from others. She was a nice one. "Um... It's ok. Thank you," he replied.

Looking over at Roxy, he smiled through the pain. His head feeling light, like it was in water. "We can dance still." He nodded, holding his head after he did so. It was a bad idea to nod. It only increased the watery feeling. Xander laughed though at the odd feeling. He had never drank before and his body had absolutely no tolerance.

Once it seemed his coughing was under control she pulled her hand back. "I used to drink with the church ladies back when I lived in Louisiana, but that was a while ago," she murmured quietly as the teacher approached. From the womans' reaction she hadn't heard what Roxy had said, which was good since adults who weren't like them had a tendency to react badly to hearing a fifteen year old talk about getting drunk. "He's fine, just had some punch go down the wrong pipe," she said by way of explanation, waiting for the teacher to wander off again.

Smiling back at Xander, she studied his face. She wasn't sure how the alcohol would affect him, and that concerned her. "We can find a place near the people making out over in that dark area, that way people won't be watching us," Roxy pointed out before noticing that he was holding his head. "You sure you're okay, don't have a headache or anything?" Was he already tipsy?

The teacher patted him on the back also, nodded to Roxy's explanation and wandered off without any further questions. She didn't see Xander as the kind of student to participate in drinking or anything frowned upon. Plus there was a couple making out in the middle of the dance floor while a light passed over them.

Xander blinked at her, holding back a smirk. "You want to make out?" He asked, misunderstanding her comment. Looking over at the corner she gestured to, he tilted his head to the side like a confused dog. The outlines of people in the darkness could be seen, but he didn't want to be like them. Kissing wasn't something he would do so publicly, it felt strange. Also his 'sister' had mentioned kissing with the tongue, which he found out was called french kissing for some reason, from what he found on the internet didn't seem like something that others should watch. "My head... spins." He laughed again. Everything felt warm and fuzzy in his stomach.

His response had her a little baffled until it struck her that Xander must have misunderstood what she was saying. Sure, Roxy totally wanted to make out with Xander, but not anywhere they might get caught by a teacher and made an example of. That wouldn't be cool at all. Not only that, but if his head was spinning than he was probably drunk, and she didn't want to take advantage of him.

Roxy shook her head, an amused glint in her eyes. "No, I was saying we could dance over there, not make out. Why would we make out at school, that's like combining something awesome with something terrible." How could he not know that? There was also the fact that other people would feel like they could watch and comment, and there was no part of Roxanne Vavra that wanted to be someones' unwilling entertainment. "Your head's spinning? Uh-oh, that means you're a lightweight." She thought for a moment. "You don't feel like you're gonna vomit, do you?" If she ran into the kid who gave them the spiked punch again tonight she might have to punch him in the nose if Xander barfed on her awesome dress.

"Oh..." He looked down, embarrassed. If his cheeks hadn't already started to become red from the cheap alcohol he would have blushed at his misunderstanding. "I... didn't know." Xander was trying his hardest not to say sorry all the time, but he really wanted to. His teenaged mind didn't think it would be so bad; well the making out at school thing, not the making out in public thing. He wouldn't want people to watch.

"Lightweight?" He asked, not understanding that term. "No... Why would I feel like that?" Alcohol and the effects associated with it would never be something he would know until he experienced it. He grasped her hand tighter with a smile. The spinning wasn't so bad and feeling warm inside was not something he normally experienced except when she kissed him, so that wasn't bad at all. "So... dancing, yes?"

When she saw the way he looked down, Roxy gently placed her hand on his shoulder again. "Hey now, I ain't saying I don't wanna make out with you, I just don't wanna do it here, where people can see and say stupid stuff..." Which might sound like a strange thing for the goddess who lived to be all up in everyones' business to say, but like any good hypocrite Roxy didn't like when other people were all up in her business. Both she and Xander already got enough crap from their fellow students for being different; she refused to accidentally make things worse for him.

"Yeah, it just means you have like no tolerance to drugs or alcohol." She often forgot that he hadn't been a human-type for as long as she had. "And sometimes when people drink and can't handle it they hurl, but it's good that you don't have to." She stopped speaking for a moment when she felt his grip on her hand again, smiling as she nodded at his question. "Yes, dancing. We should do that. Since, y'know, we're at a dance."

"Oh... so there was alcohol in that? Because it smelled like Formaldehyde. Did you know that Formaldehyde is not just used as an embalming fluid, but as a disinfecting agent because it kills bacteria.... I think that drink would too if he poured it on it... or the sugar would counteract that... I don't know... My head feels fuzzy now." That was likely the most words he had ever strung together since ever. He really didn't handle his alcohol well.

Still he lead them out further to the dance floor away from the tables. He waited to see how she danced, looking at others around them to see what they were doing also. He really didn't understand it.

For a good few seconds Roxy just stared at Xander, blinking. She didn't even realize he was capable of saying that much in one breath, and nearly said something about it but chose not to. Instead, she just smiled at him in the vaguely infuriating manner adults sometimes did when you said something you thought was brilliant but they were just too stunned to do anything other than humor you, and lightly patted his back again. "That sounds real interesting, I definitely didn't know that." Not that it factored into the 'things she needed to know' category, but whatever.

It didn't take long for her to find the beat of the song and to start dancing, uncaring of whoever else might be watching. There was one only person here whose opinion she was concerned with, and even if he laughed at her crazy antics at least they'd be laughing together.

The tone of her smile was lost on him. The others in his head were bickering now on what the drink actually tasted like. Xander was unsure if they were actually affected by the drink or not. Fuck if any of them were really sure about it. The calculating one couldn't completely be sure. The present wasn't exactly his jurisdiction. It was Xander's and he was obviously drunk so there was no telling. The others' personalities didn't change with the alcohol.

How could she not know about Formaldehyde? Didn't everyone know about it? "Hades is a coroner..." He mumbled. Another moment of his alcohol, Xander always referred to Hades by his public human name and never by his real name, but things blurred now. The violent personality wanted to show her just what the embalming fluid was like, not on her surprisingly but on someone else. Like the cheerleader and football player making out in the corner.

A smile pulled on his lips as he watched her dance. Xander could watch her move forever, even in the odd manner that she did to the music. He wasn't moving much, swaying mostly, and that might not have been entirely his version of dancing, but the lack of tolerance to the drink. Mostly he watched her dance. Reaching out he put his hands on her hips. He liked her hips and just wanted to feel them really.

If he had asked her about it she'd have insisted that the tone of her smile meant nothing. Roxy was many things, but she wasn't so stupid as to tell him that she honestly couldn't care less about disinfectants and all that when they were there to dance. And Roxy's natural inclination would have been to crack a joke as well, which wouldn't have gone over all that well either.

Deep down she probably did know about formaldehyde, yet again it wasn't important to her. "That makes sense, for him," she responded, aware of the slip but certain nobody else heard him. Roxy had slipped up like that before as well, but saying 'Frigg' usually had people thinking she was frustrated and not talking about someone. Lucky, that.

Pleased to see him smiling again, Roxy continued to do her wiggling-shimmy-flaily move mostly in time to the music, surprised -- but not in a bad way -- when his hands made contact with her hips. "That's a good idea, now you can follow my lead!" And people around them were touching while they danced, so it helped them blend in as well. He was so smart, picking up on that!

Xander simply laughed at her comment. That wasn't why he put his hands there, but it was a better idea than his wants, so he went with it. Also doing something with his hands helped keep the violent one in check who was itching to shift into a dog form and run around attacking people. He insisted that those Xander viewed as his friends were not so and that alcohol trick was proof of that. The calculating one insisted that was just what kids did and it the kid had no way of knowing Xander had no tolerance.

Glancing at a couple close by dancing, they were far closer than Xander and Roxy, so Xander pulled her closer into him, following her moves as much as he could. "They all dance so close..." He whispered innocently, having her so close still made him nervous, but it made him feel good at the same time. The song mixed into a slow song. The DJ wasn't the best at mixing so the initial change over confused Xander and hurt his delicate ears. He tried to pull back, since Persephone taught him more proper dancing than being up close and personal, but part of him didn't want to move out of her space.

Roxy wasn't sure why he was laughing this time but she wasn't going to question it. His hands felt nice on her hips, sending a jolt of warmth through her that stirred up sensations she had only read about in books. Looking up to meet his eyes, Roxy was glad that it was on the darker side in the gym since she was pretty sure her cheeks matched her dress by now, and she wasn't sure if that was because of him or the alcohol, but either way Roxy liked it.

Squeaking softly when he pulled her closer, Roxy stumbled at Xander's unexpected action, blinking in confusion. "I think it's 'cause they're dancing like they wanna do it," she explained, shrugging. She'd heard people talking about it before, how some people equated dancing with having sex, and she'd thought that was a silly comparison. Until now. Seeing it in action made things a lot clearer. Reluctant to let him go when he tried to pull back, Roxy loosened her grip on him so he could if that's what he really wanted to do.

"Oh," Xander felt awkward about that. He could only assume by how they danced what 'do it' meant. Did they dance like that because they actually wanted to 'do it' or just because they liked the look of it? Xander may have been confused over being a human, but he still had the hormones of a teenager and without any real knowledge of what they meant they just caused butterflies in his stomach and a warm sensation through out his body.

The slower music filled his ears, his eyes drifting closed. He loved slow music, but it didn't love him. His grip loosened further, his body leaning forward as sleep called to him. Xander tried to stive off the slumber that called him, just like Persephone had tried to teach him when she taught him to dance. Take deep breathes, try to focus the mind. He swayed back and forth, turning her in a small circle and focused on trying to not step on her feet.

"Oh? Is that a good, like 'well I kinda wanna do it too' sort of oh, or a bad 'ew doing it sounds gross' sort of oh?" Roxy asked, genuinely interested in what his answer would be. Roxy wasn't one to often (if ever) acknowledge that she even had hormones, let alone act upon them, but that was before she met Xander and the thought of dating and boyfriends became a reality and not just a theory.

When she saw his eyes shut Roxy didn't think anything of it. People sometimes did that when they were enjoying themselves. Then his grip loosened and he started leaning towards her, causing a slight tickle of panic in the back of her head. Was he starting to zone out, or fall asleep? Was she that bad of a date? She let him lead, but wasn't as careful with her footing, deliberately stepping on his foot. Not hard enough for it to hurt, but definitely hard enough to get his attention.

Xander was tongue tied enough as it was that he wouldn't be able to answer such a question without a few more of his friend's drinks. Even in the dark, as a light swept over them, Xander's cheeks were so much redder than just drinking would accomplish.

"Ow," he whimpered like a puppy's whose tail was stepped on. It wasn't that it hurt as much as it was a feeling he hadn't expected. Stepping on his foot had Glancing down at their feet, he looked back up at her with a pout. "Persephone told me to watch out for the feet..." He mentioned. Xander was trying to be helpful rather than judgmental. Even in his monster form he was not one to judge, he just took orders. He was good at taking orders.

Again the music swept through his mind, calling for him to slumber. Really it was a curse now that he was in this form. He wanted to happily listen to music like normal people did. This time he kept his back straight, he tried to keep his hands were they should be rather than snaking down her hips like when he found himself falling asleep.

Roxy couldn't tell if he was blushing or just plastered, but she notice that he never answered her question and resolved to ask him about it again later. Someplace more private.

The pout was cute, but Roxy wasn't going to fall for it. "Sorry, was just trying to get your attention 'cause you looked like you were bored or something," And she just knew that he couldn't be bored when he was there with her, since she was an absolutely fucking delight to be around when she wanted to be. Roxy hoped she wouldn't have to remind him of that.

Even now, he looked stiff and like he was concentrating way too hard on keeping himself from passing out, and part of her was starting to get annoyed. "Is everything okay?" she asked, a bit of an edge to her tone.

Pushing his lips to the side, Xander looked down again. He didn't want to tell her his problem. Really, it was something he was never to tell, because it gave people a way around him. Of course, it didn't actually matter any more, and he trusted Pheme not to tell- ironically- but it still felt odd commenting on it. Merely following the music to see if it was ending only helped to bring exhaustion to his body. When he first took human form he found classical music a great way to fall asleep, otherwise he was on edge trying to get use to the form.

"Yes... sorry." He stepped back from her and looked around the dance floor. The song should end soon and he'd be fine with it. "Do you... remember any stories of mine?" He asked shyly. Leaning into her ear, he whispered, "like, my encounter with Orpheus?"

Thoroughly confused now, Roxy wasn't sure how to reach when he stepped away from her before the song ended. Sure, he apologized, and she knew Cerberus wasn't the most well-versed at being human, but it was kind of rude of him and she could tell people were looking at them. Still, she didn't want to make him uncomfortable, especially when it had taken them as long as it had to actually get out on the dance floor.

"Apology accepted," she said automatically, not berating him this time. "Yeah, I know all your stories, silly," she commented, amused he'd even ask. "Oh wait... didn't he play music... and you fell... Oh, duh," she whispered back, connecting the dots. "Uh... we don't have to dance, in that case."

Xander could say he was surprised that she knew all his stories. He didn't know anyone's stories beyond those in the realm he had dwelled. He knew who people were but not exactly what they did. That was the thing about being a guard though, he didn't get out much.

"I really wanted to dance with you... And I was taught to slow dance, but the music is so loud and echos... It's hard not to let it get to me." She seemed to understand, so he felt better about it. Kinda. "Maybe... another drink?"

Roxy would've pointed out that as the goddess of rumour and report it was her job to know everyones' stories, but at the same time she didn't expect everyone to understand. What use would Cerberus have had for hearing all the gossip?

"Do you think it'd be easier if we were dancing somewhere else, like not in the same room as the music?" She wasn't sure how it worked, but he seemed upset that he couldn't dance with her. "We could get another drink and see if that helps, sure."

"Maybe." The idea had not even dawned on him before then and it showed on his face. "We can get more drinks and then find somewhere we can hear the music without having to be in here?" Xander reached for her hand again, trying to be gentle. The fuzziness in his mind was wearing off or more so the music took its place. The slow music had came to an end blending into one with slightly more of an upbeat to it without being over the top. He decided that he didn't want to go a moment at this dance without touching her.

"Sounds good to me," Roxy agreed, pleased that her suggestion might be helpful. It wasn't often that one of her ideas actually proved useful, and if it worked Roxy was hopeful that she and Xander could have an enjoyable time. Especially since there were so many times having music on, even in the background, could make things better. Letting him take her hand when he reached for it, she smiled as she walked alongside him. "I bet we could go in the hallway or something and see if that helps, once we get our drinks."

It wasn't hard to find Xander's 'friend' again. The boy chuckled with a comment on how he was surprised Xander took to it so well. He, of course, had no clue. Handing them two more cups of punch, he looked around to make sure no adults were looking and poured in some of the clear liquid he had in a bottle tucked into his suit. Xander smiled softly, thanking him. The boy slapped Xander on the back and said he might just have to invite them to the next party at his place.

Walking away, Xander took a sip of his punch. The burn less so this time, but the taste just as disgusting. Keeping her hand in his, Xander lead her out into one of the back halls. Everyone had been so focused on the front hall where everyone entered that people in the back hall were few and far between. With a little sigh as he finished off his drink again, Xander grinned at Roxy. "I think this will be better."

As far as Roxy was concerned, if Xander thought getting drunk would help him out then she was all for it. She wasn't going to play bad cop and point out that liquid confidence usually ended up causing people to make asses of themselves, instead figuring if he stuck with her he wouldn't have to worry about that. Roxy wasn't judging him, even if she was judging everyone else.

A slight smile was offered to Xander's friend after they got the punch from him, although she didn't have any of it until they got to their destination and she had both hands free once again. Taking a sip, she winced at the mixture before closing her eyes and gulping it down, grinning at Xander once she was done. "That's good, and if it isn't we can always leave." She paused, glancing down at her cup. "By the way, you shouldn't go to that kids' parties. All people do at them is drink too much, some do drugs, and sometimes people go into closets or dark rooms and like, do it."

It didn't even dawn on him what getting drunk would do, but he found the odd sensations that the drinks gave him interesting and the calculating personality- though aware of just how the night would end- still wanted to know the effects on all three of them. They hadn't tried anything like this before.

Xander was determined not to leave. He had wanted this dance maybe more than she did, but he had tried everything to impress her only to fail horribly. There was no winning it seemed for the puppy. The grin flickered from his lips as she told him what the party was like. The calculating personality informed him that she was right that it was in their best interest not to go to such a party- if not because of the things she listed but because of what the violent one might do in that situation. "Why would they do drugs in a closet?" He asked innocently, confusion flickering across his features.
