WHO: Armaan Khatri, Patience, Michael, Saint Patrick, Henry Ceredig, Avery Duffield
WHEN: Early hours of Saturday
WHERE: Hospital tiimmeesss
WHAT: Hospital tiimmeesss
WARNINGS: TBA

As soon as they reached the hospital, Armaan was whisked away for emergency surgery, and Freddie was left to wait in the waiting room for him. Soon enough though, he was joined by Patrick, who informed Freddie of the growing numbers of press outside the place. Michael arrived next, followed by Rhadika who had sped over as soon as she could. She had been so relieved when Detective Angel had called her, because she too had happened upon the live stream, and when she saw her baby on screen, bleeding out, she had spent a frantic fifteen minutes trying to find any way to contact Varaha and ask for his help.

She was just relieved, now that Armaan was in safe hands, that she hadn't managed to get ahold of him.

The moment she was in the waiting room, she made a beeline for Freddie. "Oh my darling Freddie," she said, moving to embrace him tightly. "You saved him, didn't you?"

Armaan snorted and then laughed at Avery, before putting his hand on his abdomen because laughing hurt. "HAhaha, fuck, ow!" he said, still chuckling. "Well I probably didn't say any of that. And thank goodness! Aw man, laughing hurts! Worth it though." Armaan loved laughing.

Patience smiled softly, glad to hear it too. "I'm just going to pop out a minute," he murmured to Armaan, and left the room to go to the bathroom and give the friends some space.

Avery smirked. "Probably didn't," he agreed. He fell silent, not really sure what to say now. What should he say, when Armaan had endured so much? He definitely wasn't going to mention the shit with his dad, and in fact he intended to forget he ever did that as soon as he could. It was good to see Armaan smiling, though.

Armaan watched Freddie go, and then he turned a little more towards Avery. "I wasn't scared at the beginning," he told his friend. "I knew Freddie would be coming, and I just had to wait, so I wasn't scared at all. Not until the end. I panicked he wouldn't get there in time, and it was awful. But he did. I should have known he would, you know?"

Avery made a noise that was sort of agreeing, sort of not. "I dunno. Maybe. He's special but he ain't Superman. I mean- He's quite a lot human. You know?" He glanced over his shoulder to make sure Freddie wasn't about to step back into the room. "I mean that it's normal to be worried and have doubts. Shit, you were so wild the way you stayed silent the whole time til the end. I don't think I coulda done that." There was respect in his voice, impressed at how Armaan had handled himself.

"He is quite human, isn't it?" Armaan said, smiling to himself. When Avery went on to compliment him though, Armaan sobered. The awe in the man's voice wasn't something Armaan was used to.

"I guess- I knew whatever I said wasn't going to change anything. I knew I just had to wait it out, you know? And it really freaked them out that I didn't ask any questions. It was just people. People being shitty. If it had been Lucifer? Different story, I would have lost my shit."

"Yeah... well... I think most people would..." Avery still couldn't get his head around there being an actual Lucifer, but that was a mental struggle for another day. He shook his head. "Still, just taking it in silence? Absolutely insane."

"So-" Armaan got a little glint in his eye then, and he said, "so you're saying I'm a badass then? Like an actual hard-as-nails hero, hmm? It's okay to worship me, bro. But don't sacrifice a goat or anything. Unless it's to make curry, yum."

"Oh, here we go." It seemed Armaan was getting a big head- but then, he deserved it. Avery could go along with it. "I'm not doing anything with a goat. You want that, you can do it yourself. I only sacrifice to the real deal. But... you are pretty badass." He could agree with that at least. He smirked, nudging Armaan's arm.

"Oh my god, I was joking," he laughed, and then he winced again, "owwww. I'm not a badass, I read the weather off a teleprompter and make puns while looking snazzy in a tie. Then I go home to my boyfriend and we read while sitting next to each other. Not like you. Risking your ass to investigate the gods and all. You're the badass. You know I think that, right?" It felt important to say, even if Avery was going to feel weird about it.

"Agree to disagree," Avery replied. "I didn't take a punch without a peep. You did. I haven't had anything to do with gods in a couple of years, present company's boyfriend excepted. So there." He folded his arms and sat back a moment, then suddenly sat up again. "Hey, can I get the scoop on this? Will you give me an interview? When you're rested. It'd really give me a boost in the office. You think so?"

Armaan grinned then, and he reached out to pat Avery's hand. "Of course you can, bro. Give me a day or two, but then the scoop is all yours."

Henry, who had been near the door for a moment or so, edged into the room. "The swarms of press outside will be so pissed off and I am here for it," he chuckled. "Also, just so you're both aware, you're both badasses, but if you keep trying to tell each other that, you're going to be here all night."

"Hey, Henry," Armaan smiled and he was happy when Henry hugged him.

"Hey yourself, man," Henry said, moving to lean against the wall. "Scared the shit out of us."

"Nice. Thanks man." Armaan looked up at Henry, sitting back again. "So long as I get the first interview, they can get in line. We'll see who is a badass then." He'd needed a bit a professional lift. He'd felt like his articles had been getting a touch samey lately. "Yeah, things got a bit dicey back there."

"Well I promise to try not to let it happen again?" Armaan said with a little shrug. "I can't imagine anyone is going to let me into a parking lot on my own at night for a little while."

"Signs point to a big old nope," Henry said, shaking his head. "Look, you or Freddie need anything in the next wee while, you know where we are. Even just a grocery delivery, okay? I got you. I seem to remember a soup delivery after I got out of the hospital."

Armaan chuckled and he nodded, "I spent an entire day making those soups!"

Avery was privately kind of glad to not have to endure a lake of soup again, even if he personally hadn't eaten much of it, although he'd been able to smell it for ages. Soup was a food he only sometimes had the taste for.

"The chances of the same thing happening again are pretty slim, I'd have thought," he commented. "So its up to you how safe you feel, not anybody else. You don't want to let it stop you living your life." He meant it encouragingly, however it came across, whether or not right now was time for that conversation.

Armaan was pretty grateful for Avery's words, though he wasn't really going to know how he felt about all this until he was a few days away from it. Out of the shock and the opiate haze where right now all he felt was grateful and just a little bit euphoric.

Still, he nodded with a smile and said, "good point. Really good point. I'll keep it in mind. Honestly? I'm glad I didn't end up pissing myself on livestream, you know?" He'd been tied to a chair for hours, in a very stressful situation. It could have happened!

Henry, who had once been kept chained hanging from a ceiling for days and had, in fact, pissed himself, agreed. At least that hadn't been livestreamed! "Or shat yourself out of fear. Well done avoiding that!"

Armaan snorted and then he put a hand to his wound again, "ow ow, you guys suck."

"You're the one who brought it to toilet humour!" Henry pointed out.

"People usually pay extra for that," Avery added with a smirk. "Don't give it out for free." He suppressed a yawn, starting to feel tired after all this excitement. But so long as Armaan was needing support, he would stay. "You're a D-list celebrity, you'd get your own page on Wiki-scat."

Armaan was laughing again, his hand on his abdomen because it was pulling his stitches. "Oh my god, ow hahaha!" he said, before shaking his head in amusement. "It's a good thing Freddie stepped out! Do not debase my Freddie's precious Christian ears with your scat talk!" he said.

Henry snorted, "you like to do all the debasing yourself, eyyyyy, eeyyYYY?" he laughed.

Avery was snickering to himself, when he sensed movement and glanced towards the door behind Henry. Freddie had returned just at that moment and was standing in the doorway looking bemused.

"I wouldn't like to say," he commented, and Avery almost choked on his own spit.

Henry turned around to look at Freddie, and immediately turned red, and hid behind his hands. "Oh goooood."

Armaan chuckled and he gave his boyfriend a fond look. "I would like to say, but I won't," he joked. There was fatigue lacing his voice now, and his body felt a bit heavy.

"Lets keep it between us," Freddie said, patting Armaan's foot. He looked around at Henry, kindly amused. "I'm going to have to be the bad guy now and send you boys home. Armaan needs to recover, and Addy is out in the waiting room dozing off in her chair. Go home and rest. We'll see you again soon."

Avery nodded and rose to his feet, feeling creaky and tired. "Sure thing." He nodded to Armaan. "We'll see ya."

"Hey," Armaan said softly, trying to catch Avery before he left. "Love you, bro," he said with a little smile. "Both of you."

Henry grinned, and he headed for the door too. "Love you too, Armaan. I'm so glad you're going to be okay. See you soon, alright?"

Armaan nodded, and when they both of them left, the nurse finally entered with some soup and Jello. Armaan looked over at his boyfriend and he pushed the Jello towards him. "We should eat before sleep," he said tiredly. "It's lime! The Jello, not the soup."

Patience sat down next to Armaan, giving him a fond look and not touching the jello cup. "You eat first. If you aren't hungry by the time you've done with your soup, then I'll eat it. How about that?" His tone was kind but firm. He wasn't going to be taking food out of Armaan's mouth, no sir, not after everything he'd been through. "And don't try to trick me. There's a vending machine in the hall and I have change in my pocket, I'll be perfectly okay."

Armaan was going to argue, but he was exhausted. Instead he admitted defeat, "alright, my Freddie," he said, as he dug into the soup. "You win. Oh my word, that's good," he breathed. It probably wasn't actually anything amazing, but he was hungry and high. So the chicken noodle was mind-blowing.

Rhadika re-entered the room then, and she went to pat Freddie's shoulder, before planting a bag of chips in front of him. She had gotten them from said vending machine. "I hope you both know I'm staying too," she advised them. She assumed Freddie was staying the night.

"You don't have to, Maji-" Armaan started, around a mouthful of soup.

"After what I witnessed today, Jaanu, you cannot expect me to just go home to sleep. I will stay with you."

Well Patience wasn't going to argue with Mother, so he took the chips with gratitude and half rose from the chair. "Would you like to sit here?" he asked, always polite. She deserved to sit in whichever place she chose.

It was possible Armaan would fall asleep again before getting to the jello, but he'd wait and see about that eventuality before taking it. There would be breakfast coming, and he'd be able to pop out once shops started opening again.

"No, you sit back there," she reassured Freddie, and then she went to fetch another chair, dragging it to the other side of Armaan's bed. "See, my darling boy, you can sleep safely, knowing we are on either side of you."

Armaan's expression was bittersweet, but he reached out to squeeze her hand before returning to his soup. "That really does make me feel better," he admitted. He was fading fast, especially now that he felt so safe and loved. With the last few bites of the soup, he nodded to Freddie.

"Gotta sleep. You have the lime. I love you, Freddie. Love you, Maji." His eyelids felt so heavy.

"You sleep, my darling one," Rhadika said, her voice soothing. She caught Freddie's eyes over Armaan's sleeping form, and her smile faded. She breathed out slowly, and then she shook her head. She felt wired and sick to her stomach and there was no way she was falling asleep. But she didn't know how to convey that to Freddie without saying it.
