On dating
Anyone else having a Case of The Mondays*?

*: yes I mean hung over at work, sorry Aunt Una, I'm having so much coffee I am doing all work don't worry haha I'm great no really super super fine.

Had the worst date last night.

Okay not worst worst, but really bad.

So mum set me up on a date last night. I really should know better at this point, but I was getting desperate with only Razor for companionship and well, I figured, what could it hurt? I guess I should have cleared with her ahead of time what her version of an appropriate date would be. She said he was announcer. I didn't realize he would be an announcer FRIEND OF DAD. He was 56, which I know it's not polite to judge someone based on age, but he was also a very overweight 56. And bald. And he fell asleep at the table during dinner. Oh, he's narcoleptic, I forgot that bit.

I tried to sneak out the bathroom during dessert and caught my heel on the window and went tumbling into the bushes, ripping my dress open. I gave Diagon an excellent view of my knickers before I could apparate home and finish a bottle of wine, which I now regret.

I don't know why I leave the house sometimes.

My operating theory is that they keep introducing me to girls like I'm an abraxan put to stud and none of them like me and I don't really like most of them well enough to put in the effort to be marriageable.

And my Yaxley name is a liability since Uncle Corban outed himself as a senior Death Eater and dragged me into the fringes of his trouble. Nobody wants to be a Yaxley right now and I can't blame them. If I did have a girl I liked well enough to get married, I'd tell her to keep her own name and then give it to our children.

Which makes me a not very good Yaxley.

If anybody ever asks I'm denying I said it, too.

God this whole thing is a Thing, isn't it?

Marriage sounds so...I don't know I think I have to get past a few dates or what have you. That part is hard enough.

And you can always talk to my about anything. You're a good Yaxley in my eyes because you're fun and lovable and give great hugs and sometimes don't make fun of me. So that's all that matters and stuff the rest.

So says I.

	Neither one of us picked it. I was loyal to what the family wanted and all it got me was jobs I didn't like and people thinking I wanted to be a Death Eater. I love you all, but I'm not going to get married to someone my mother approves of just to make her happy. Hugs are always available, though. (Reply to this) (Parent)
