On dating
Anyone else having a Case of The Mondays*?

*: yes I mean hung over at work, sorry Aunt Una, I'm having so much coffee I am doing all work don't worry haha I'm great no really super super fine.

[Warded to Family/Clan]

Had the worst date last night.

Okay not worst worst, but really bad.

So mum set me up on a date last night. I really should know better at this point, but I was getting desperate with only Razor for companionship and well, I figured, what could it hurt? I guess I should have cleared with her ahead of time what her version of an appropriate date would be. She said he was announcer. I didn't realize he would be an announcer FRIEND OF DAD. He was 56, which I know it's not polite to judge someone based on age, but he was also a very overweight 56. And bald. And he fell asleep at the table during dinner. Oh, he's narcoleptic, I forgot that bit.

I tried to sneak out the bathroom during dessert and caught my heel on the window and went tumbling into the bushes, ripping my dress open. I gave Diagon an excellent view of my knickers before I could apparate home and finish a bottle of wine, which I now regret.

I don't know why I leave the house sometimes.

Do not let Dad set you up with anyone. Worse than Mum or Aunt Una. You'd find yourself having drinks with that old coot who writes The Quibbler. -- who has offered written testimony for my sub-commission. I am terrified.

So that would not be a fun wedding to get an hours' notice on, no.

Cousin Merc went all the way to Brazil to find someone he could get along with. I'm not saying "try to learn some Portugeuse" or anything.

Oh Merlin, what are our parents thinking??

HA! Well, come to think of it, it would be entertaining. YOU GET THAT OLD COOT, TIGER!

I'm not great with languages, I'm going to be frank.

Dad set me up with Francis Newton once, before she married Sean Cunningham. She was, at least, interested in Quidditch, but I felt like she was doing a play-by-play commentary on our one date.

I wish she'd snuck out through the window. Or I'd thought to fall over in the soup...

Did she play by play the actual date because that's amazing.

Hey, no one said you couldn't sneak out a window.

There are different messages when a woman sneaks out the back to avoid causing a scene with her date and when a guy leaves his date by sneaking out a window.

For a guy it means "I cannot afford to pay the bill, and I don't care if my date goes to jail".
