Just wanted to let you all know that after talking to some of my colleagues, I'm going to be leaving off scrimmaging with Montrose. It was pointed out to me that this could give an appearance of favouritism, and I don't want to get the team in any trouble. I'll still be around to practise with you privately, Lex and Micah, but you'll have to find another beater for team scrimmages. Sorry.

One of the issues to hand is that MG is very unhappy with the schedule right now and he's been making that very clear publicly and privately. I think he's just venting but he doesn't see how it looks to other people. And I wouldn't want anyone thinking Montrose had influenced the schedule if it's better next year.

Inside the department they know I play it straight, neither for or against any of the teams, but someone inclined to agitate could make trouble. I'm hoping that whatever the BIL outcome is, that it will all blow over by the end of the season. But if it hasn't, I don't want to leave Montrose open for trouble next season, either.

So mostly I need to stay away from MG. If his sister wants to watch us whack each other with bludgers, that's fine with me. I'm not happy about any of this but it's something I have to do for the family and the owners.

I'm good. I just need to make a more visible show of separating myself from management. You saw MG chew my arse out the other day. If he does that all year, someone will demand an investigation. I'll come up clean because I am, but the trouble's not worth it.

I don't even know what he's so narked about. It's not like he has anything to complain about. He won the Classic and he's undefeated in his first year. He got a bad turnaround, but it happens.

He hasn't made a statement one way or another on either of the rock-the-boat things I'm involved in, and he'd give his good arm to get my version of the standings made official, because they're 5000% better for teams that actually win (which is the point), so I don't see him coming after me.

It's crazy, they're clearly ahead and the schedule hasn't hurt them and the damn season is almost half over and they're undefeated, so unless they decide to start throwing games, they'll make the playoffs.

Your mother doesn't care that much what the record is, as long as they look good in the playoffs and the Neep. A little drama getting there just puts fans in stands...

	New coaches are always a pain. Who was the coach when you were the administrator? Was it before or after ol' Crankykilt ManNaughton retired? 	I was there for his last couple of years. Awful. Puts MG in perspective. I'm glad his admin is his cousin because I can't imagine what it would be like for an admin he didn't get on with. I'll let you handle MG. I'm not really happy about this but I think it's best for all of us.

Some of what Lex needs is just face and broom time with whoever she's going to be flying with. It's not that she's not getting sufficient practice; more like it's easier to have the trust and good reflexes you need when you've flown a lot with your partner. And she's going to have a new one with George being out for the season, when she'd barely got used to Kal. It's hard to have a new beater come in halfway through the season.

It'll be good for the team to have someone else in scrimmage. Whoever it is won't be as used to working with Fraser as I am, but it'll be an unknown quantity and that's useful too. It'll be all right if they can get someone in before Christmas so she can get some air time in with the new Beater during the long break.
