Scottish National is the Montrose stadium, right? Are they playing there or at Rannoch? (Since this affects Meaghan's pre-game rituals.) If the Scottish National, Meaghan officially hates non-home matches, especially at that stadium.

Well, there's really no such thing as a "home stadium" in the US sports model. There are nine stadia, of which six get used in in block, so in three blocks, each stadium gets used twice (generally). BUT they do try to play Montrose at The Lamb and Portree at Rannoch to cut down on the fans' travel distance. That's the actual art of scheduling, because putting the teams up against each other is the easy part. Sometimes two teams that aren't Montrose or Portree will end up in Rannoch or the Lamb.

The Stadium List is at the bottom of the linked page. It has this to say about The Lamb:
Scottish National - on the Lamb in the Firth of Forth; half the island has been rendered unplottable and Muggle-repellent to allow Quidditch to take place there. Home stadium for Montrose.

Also, you can read more about the actual island on Wikipedia

If the Fall Classic was any indication, Ellie is someone who goes all in and is not one to back down from a bet. Noticeably today is that she dyed/charmed her hair black and she is wearing an old (too large for her) Montrose jersey with Maddock's number, but rather than his name it reads MacFusty. This was at point during their marriage a joke present for him, but undoubtedly stolen back by her.

She is still not back to her normal -- although what her normal might be is anyone's guess. Although she is just as loud and energetic as anyone might think, but it's not quite landing the same as it did in the past. There is no pre-game show today, but she doe make a moving speech similar to the one at the team meeting on Monday. She does acknowledge that this time they are the team with the short turn around playing their next match in less than a week, but fully expects everyone to leave it all out there. They need to come back strong from the Fall Classic.

Scrimmy knows the Arrows are a tough team on the quaffle side of things, after all Hyslop has been making waves and King is acknowledged as a great keeper. But damnit if she's not going to go all out! >:(

So she's back in her usual corner with the chasers and jamming out to whatever Joy has playing. Because she's total a convert to muggle music now.

Alasdair, as usual, sits with the team of Chasers and goes over their plays and strategies as needed. He's not one for the music, but he's there for the other two in their preparation, and is the calm anchor to the busier, louder women who will be flying alongside him later on.

Lorna isn't as nervous as she was for the Fall Classic, but she feels a different kind of pressure. This is still a regular season game but this feels like a second chance for Lorna to prove she can come back to Quidditch. She would have talked over strategy with Luag, and given some words of encouragement to the others.

Meaghan is not happy about being back at the Lamb, since this is seriously where they just lost a match, are you frigging kidding her, also there are no ducks to feed and clearly fake-duck-feeding did not do the trick last time.

But she's pretty sure she knows what to expect from this match and she knows how she's going to respond. So she's a bit grumpy, and keeps rolling her shoulders in a twitchy way, but she's focused and determined.

On the Pitch

This is one of those matches where Scrimmy really feels her rookie status and feels outclassed. King is a goddamn wall that she can't seem to get anything by, and after the first hour she's largely given up on taking her own shots and instead passing off to Joy (who seems to really have King's number) and Alasdair. Most of her shots from that point on are from rebounds off the keeper, grabbing the quaffle a taking a quick slightly awkwardly positioned shot to see if the element of surprise helps at all. At least it puts pressure on the keeper?

The blading call comes from when she almost runs into Hyslop and crosses brooms in an attempt to hold him off when he gets the quaffle as the Pride are scattered and has an open route to the hoops. Worth the foul. She doesn't even cuss the ref out on that one. From there she's back to being assist extraordinaire. The score is so close that it's clear that it's going to be the snitch that decides it but damnit if she's not going to try and get them ahead.

Some time after the 3h mark, the cramming call (which both Kal and Ada have been called for in the past, one for bodily pushing a bludger and the other for chucking a quaffle, so going with the definition of "Cramming = bodily pushing a ball with the intention of hitting your target") comes after Dibble gloats about Lorna's injury. Excuse you Dibble, that's LORNA BLOODY MACFUSTY HOW DARE YOU!!! (along with a long stream of insults and swearing) In a fit of tiny dragon rage, she chucks the quaffle at his stupid head and hits square on. Cue injury for Dibble (girl can throw) and the ref ejecting her for one of the most blatant and unashamed cramming fouls seen. HE WAS INSULTING CAP AND SAYING SHIT ABOUT HER HE DESERVED IT REF!!!

Lorna was doing her job, making the way clear for her chasers to get down the pitch to the hoops. Going after bludgers was rough today, with Luag getting a foul and Applby sending a bludger into the crowd twice.

After Patteron's foul, the bludger came back fast out of the crowd, and Lorna only just got out of the way, but the bludger did scrap past her left shoulder (it's alright, she's got another arm!).

Lorna is proud of dragonling!Scrimmy for defending her honour and would have yelled at the ref for ejecting Scrimmy from the game.

Ellie forever loves her angry little dragonling and like when Joy got ejected, she meets Scrimmy on the ground -- after shouting some not so nice things at the ref in Gaelic -- but will escort her off/check in. She will very much comment that "It doesn't quite count when you try to break their head with a quaffle, but I appreciate your tenacity."

Meaghan swore when she heard the Arrows' names being called. Dammit she thought King and Patterson would be out. Dammit. This was why you didn't leave too much time between matches, it gave folks too much chance to heal.

She focused on Hyslop and did manage to shut down a good number of his goals but the Appleby chasers were working well together, as usual. Though he kept trying to get them in and served as her main focus, Poke and Killick took a page out of Scrimmy's book and started snagging rebounds and trying to shoot before she could switch gears, with some success.

This is not her best percentage, and she's not happy about that. But on the bright side she did manage to prevent any of the chasers from getting a century, and this is a solid chasing team. Most importantly, about an hour and a half in Hyslop tried flying at her really quickly to make her dodge like she had for Angus, but she just hunkered down, making it clear that she. would. not. budge. Apparently realizing that he was seconds away from a blatching warning, he swerved out of the way and she blocked his last-minute shot with gusto.

Florrie came (along with Merc?) to see Lora and Meaghan and Joy play. Instead of a box, she was with the plebs in the stands, and enjoyed cheering Portree on. She gasped when the Bludger hit Lorna but was relieved that Lorna kept flying. (And worried until she saw Lorna moving that she should have been taken out.)

Along with Merc! Tbh he likes being in the stands, reminds him of going to matches as a kid. And he'll splurge on snacks for them to share. And totally enjoy the image of Elsie up in the Portree box in Montrose kit. "You know, she really looks good in those colours. Don't we always say they suit her more?"

Luckily they aren't in the area that gets a bludger hit at it, but they probably go check if people are alright.

Post-match he'll go see about finding the Portree folk to congratulate Lorna and Elsie...and tease her about how great she looks in that jersey. Florrie, here's the camera, take a picture of the two of them will you? First cousin coach bet after all!

Ainsley spends the game watching both sides, and making occasional notes and scribbles in a small pocket notebook as the play progresses. She pauses whenever Meaghan makes (or doesn't make) saves, but doesn't mark down any comments. If she thinks it's odd that the Portree coach is wearing Montrose colors, she doesn't say anything- she hasn't been around long enough for potentially awkward questions or comments.

She would engage in conversation if approached, but largely keeps to herself, observing.

Ada was their to cheer and support Alasdair. She was maybe only a little surprised by Alasdair losing his cool, but having seen it before back when they played for Quiberon she knows it wasn't without merit. Lack of calm and fouls aside, Ada is very very happy when not only does his team win but Alasdair comes out of injury-free.

During the match she would've said hello/talked to anyone that she knew; afterwards she would've headed towards the Portree folk and hopefully try and congratulate Alasdair then and there... provided Ellie didn't spot her at all.

Recognising her name and face as mentioned around and about, Anais made a beeline for her fellow redhead Francophone as she arrived to cheer for Pip, all 6'1 of her towering through most of the crowd as she made her way to a spare seat nearby.

Ellie probably shouldn't be so pleased as she is given it wasn't exactly there best turn out, but that violence and team support shown among her players? That just warms her little dragon heart.

When Pip caught the snitch, Ellie totally ran onto the field doing her best moose call (it will be a thing -- just you wait) with her open palm at the side of her head, thumb to temple indicating moose. After making a circe around the pitch, she corrects course and comes right for Pip in pure excitement that he did just what she knew he could and moves to give him a great big jumping hug -- good thing he's a lot bigger than her and totally saw her coming, right?

Making good on a bet
[info]lady_dragon
2017-11-26 11:19 pm UTC (link)
After the immediate celebrations were over, Ellie - still quite proudly in her Montrose kit - wasn't surprised to see Florrie and Merc making their way over. She did, however, take pause at the fact that Maddock was with them. Now, she knew full what she did when she picked this shirt to wear today, but she didn't quite have the full foresight to consider what would happen or how it would read if he saw her in it after a match.

Ellie also was sure that she fired the first shot. "Now, now, now I'm sorry, but I'm just going to have to turn down any recruitment offers - despite what might be going through your mind right now."
