[Meaghan]

Have you been approached by Rita Skeeter or any other reporter regarding an article? Or have you talked in public about your actions during the war? This is important, so don't give me attitude, I don't have the time for it.

[Ellie/Cav]
Once again, I want to express my deepest reservations regarding the MacFusty scheme and remind you both that it's an incredible risk which I do not approve of taking and I expect it to be a disaster for all parties.

That said, where are we on the Beater situation?

[Des]
This is just your quarterly reminder that Quidditch is the absolute worst and I can't believe you played this terrible game for so long. I can't believe Mum loves it so much.

What are we doing for your birthday?

Given we've been married over 30 years, it would be both ridiculous and ungrateful of me to criticize your mother's taste. Suffice to say that Quidditch does have a few things going for it, and it was a suitable means to an end. And what's your new least favourite thing about it, or is it all its bad qualities together that you're thinking of today?

We'll be having the usual dinner and games, but with the addition of cake. It's not a big birthday, and Charlie's been talking a big game about how badly he'll beat you this time.

It's just all so These people are Oighrig MacDonald is out for the foreseeable future and maybe forever, because apparently decades of letting enormous metal balls break bones and damage organs over and over again may not be the best thing for one's long-term health, how could we ever have predicted that shocking outcome? (This isn't confidential information, or at least only for a few hours; it'll be all over the papers tomorrow.) She's gutted, the team's reeling, and somehow Elspeth MacFusty has managed to go and make it all worse. I don't think you would believe me if I told you what a mess I'm going to have to clean up because of that hexed ego of hers.

It's all such a disaster, I'm going to cancel the anniversary trip. Trev'll be disappointed, but I'm not leaving the country in the middle of this disaster; I'd come back to find myself without a job. I swear I could happily murder MacFusty and Cavallero both right now.

We won't miss your birthday, though. I really need to crush someone this week, and doing it to Charlie at game night is the option least likely to get me arrested.

That is serious.

Obviously we're all in favour of you not getting arrested, and I would personally consider both the lack of you being arrested and the sight of you and Charlie doing your best to crush each other excellent birthday presents.

I'm very sorry that it's so dire you have to cancel a well-earned and looked-forward-to holiday. I will say that it speaks volumes that you're willing to do so -- scoff at it being the obvious choice if you like, but I've known plenty who would have gone ahead and take it and chance the consequences -- and if Graham Urquhart doesn't appreciate your efforts, I will personally ensure that another team poaches you from him next season. A team with less infantile players and staff, if such a thing exists.

A shame for MacDonald as well, though I'm sure you're in no mood to discuss that much further.

What a season it is, by Merlin.
