[PRIDE PLAYERS & STAFF]

All right little lions, some updates and a request on further insight.

1. Our lovely captain MacDonald won't be playing in the Fall Classic. I am as utterly heartbroken as all of you. Trust me. If Cav can work through some legality, we should have a reasonable (and fucking awesome) replacement. I'll let him update you on that one. Least I speak before anything is done and dusted.

And Maggie can give you the full story on her prognosis.

Meanwhile, I would like to trial some change ups. Scrimmy, if you're keen, I would love to see how you can hold in a few scrimmages playing beater, because hell if they let me play beater, why not you? (Which is also to say David -- we might need you for redemption part one.)

2. New temp field captain. I have some thoughts, but I will also put it out to you lot to see what you think.

3. MOST IMPORTANTLY: I want all your insight and observations on Montrose. I fully intend to destroy them and Merc. This is why I am bringing the Moose against Campbell, but I'll probably need more than that, so lend me your brains.

An exciting week of training upcoming. Plus Bonfire night. Team bonding abounds!

All right. I'll draft a press release. Do you want it out now or should I hold it until closer to? What are you working on in terms of a replacement for the Classic and onward?

As for acting captain, my pick would be Alasdair. He has a sensible head on his shoulders, and I can more or less trust him to say the right things when my esteemed friends in the press stick Quick-Quote Quills under his nose.

I don't see that at all. She's old. She hasn't played a pro match in, what, half a decade? She can't possibly be conditioned for this level of play. She hasn't trained with the team. Most of them have never even seen her play, she retired so long ago.

Bringing back an old player whose time is past looks desperate. It's an enormous gamble. And if it fails, it'll fail in a big way in one of the most important matches of the season, and the press will eat us alive, and your other players will not take it well. I am going to say this as many ways as I possibly can, this is unbelievably risky, Ellie. You had best be positive you know what you're doing.

	Well, my great-uncle Ferdie is a legend too, but you don't see the Wanderers trotting him out onto the pitch. I know I'm not going to change your mind, but I hereby reserve the right to say 'I told you so' if the whole thing blows up in our face like a faulty cauldron. And I do think it will.
