Do we have a definition for yapping yet? Because I keep thinking of a player chasing another player really closely and maybe bumping into them occasionally, not painfully but enough to be an annoyance and distraction. Like being chased by a yappy dog.

Between Pip's intro (and her worry about being replaced by a giant on a broom), David's debut, and the fact that she needs to prove herself after scoring NOTHING last match... Scrimmy is the personification of a determined >:(.

But since it's David's first played match she pokes him and sticks her tongue out when nobody is paying attention. To return the bratty distracting favours he did to calm her nerves in the previous matches. They got this, tiny chasers ftw! just embrace being small okay

Ellie's pre-game speech is particularly colorful in describing exactly what she would like the team to do to Falmouth. She's eager to see David out there and see what the chaser set will do today.

She also warns everyone that Montrose is watching and she wants to put some fear into them about what Pride can do!

Joy's pre-game routine is in full swing (and volume) today, with some additions to the playlist from karaoke the other night, and a rousing return of Tubthumping.

She's got this weird feeling, though, because she looks at these two young things who're Chasing alongside her today and she realises she's the older and experienced one and that is So. Weird. Does this mean she has to get responsible or something?

(Slowly oh so slowly legit replying to this thing...)

Meaghan's feeling good about this one because Cap's back!! Oighrig playing makes her feel 200% better about a match, both for herself and in general.

It helps, of course, that they won the last one proper, snitchwise and everything. The meeting about Pip had her in a good mood like funny things tend to. She isn't at all thinking about how anyone else might feel about Pip (sorry Scrimmy, sorry Finn) and jokes around with everyone as normal, especially Finn since hell she gets two in a row and that's pretty good for a reserve eh?

She still takes her time feeding the McDucks before heading to the locker room, but she's talking to them the whole time and not worried about how this is going to go.

Scrimmy plays like someone with plenty to prove and the energy and determination to actually do so. She goes at least 5 times harder than her normal, which is about 10x harder than most players. And it shows.

There's nothing particularly fancy about it, she's practiced with David plenty, and been playing with Joy long enough now to be able to kind of keep up with her rhythm (that aussie speed and skill is another beast entirely). They've practiced what plays to do when their opponents try to shut one of them down like the Kestrels managed (very successfully too) and Alasdair might not be flying today but his tips stay in the back of her mind.

Scrimmy has an amazing match, her best yet. And with each little success her confidence soars and soon she's strong arming nearly every shot, blowing past the keeper's fingers more than a few times (The Falcons keeper has weak ass hands if you ask her).

When they win, even if it's not in quaffle points alone, she's so overjoyed that both Joy and David get tackle hugged midair on their brooms. They won they won they won!!! AND SHE DIDN'T GO SCORELESS!!! TAKE THAT CHASER MEESE OF THE WORLD!

What with a foul, an injury and a lower rate of shot attempts, I feel like Joy was copping a fair amount of attention again today. She did her best to take it in her stride and adapt, doing more feeding to Scrim--who was clearly having a blinder, so ride that momentum!--and David rather than attempting outside-chance shots herself.

I'mma say the foul and injury folded in together: at some point, a tussle with an opposing player swung Joy a little wild of the line she'd been flying, and she instinctively fended herself off a spectator box with her foot. One foul of landing, one busted ankle, neither stopped her finishing out the game.

Per usual Ellie is hovering around the sidelines, yelling encouraging things at her team. Today she is also yelling quite a few insults at Falmouth and the Falmouth coach. For as much as she wants to destroy them and see her chaser set do well, Ellie knows she learned and internalized a lot of her style of play and game approach from Falmouth and really excited to see this match up. (She also gets into a bit of a fight with the Falmouth coach about an hour into play, it's really nothing serious, but more next level teasing.)

42 shots is a pretty good number for this length of game, not so many that Meaghan was overwhelmed but she sure didn't get bored either. Nice pace, Falcons! Even if you are still outclassed.

It wasn't her best of the season but still a good solid showing. Whenever Cap went down she had an ohcrap moment but she shook it off, it was more about her possibly getting targeted than anything else. CAP IS A LEGEND, LEGENDS NEVER DIE <333

She cheered at her chasers whenever they got a rebound off her and raced off, occasionally saluted them when they passed by.

David manages to score one goal. He's very focused, sharp-eyed, and primarily lets his fellow chasers take point, though he tries to get a shot in there when the opportunity presents itself. Thankfully, he remains uninjured thanks to his agile broomwork, and is appropriately celebratory when Portree achieves a goal.

He's very business-like in his approach idek

Also he's noticeably startled when Scrimmy hugs him and has a solid "what the fuck is happening" look on his face when she does because lol human contact.

(I assume they'd know ahead of time that David's playing?)

Alec is particularly looking forward to this match, it's one thing to cheer your team on, it's entirely another to cheer your little brother on. So he's dressed more casually since he's decided there'll be no business today. Plenty of cheering and clapping for every shot David takes, and assists too. When he scores his goal, well that warrants jumping to his feet to cheer for that play! Go David Go!

After midair tackle hugs for the playing chasers, she lands to give Alasdair his tackle hug. Scrimmy is so overjoyed they won and SHE DIDN'T GO SCORELESS that she's jumpping around in excitement.

Before even hitting the locker room, Scrimmy notes her favourite person has fought his way through to congragulate her and she almost squeauls in delight before taking her broom and literally flying into her Da to give him the biggest tackle hug of all. Turns out while Scrimmy is a tiny but mighty chaser, her Da is a 6'4 giant built like a bear, arms like tree trunks, and a bushy red beard to top it all off. A formidable build for a former beater. They look almost nothing alike until seeing their matching intensity and identical excited hopping about. DA DID YOU SEE HOW WEAK THAT KEEPER'S FINGERS WERE?!

There will be dancing in the locker room and insisting on drinks! David's first match, he needs to come drink to celebrate! AND NOW HE KNOWS THE WORDS TO SPICE GIRL SONGS (or well he should after karaoke she says)

David's disappointed in his score percentage but tries not to show it. He's pleased they won, worried for Cap, and makes a point of finding Scrimmy to congratulate her on today's game.

And he finds Alasdair to report on how he thought the match went!
