Who? Montrose + (players and any interested affiliates)
What? Operation "For Merlin's sake, find our Seeker a bloody broom STAT"
When? Sunday, March 25th 2000
Where? Starts and ends at Lennox's place on Mull, via the practice pitch.
Rating? Probably some swears, knowing this lot. Rating otherwise TBD.

Lennox had, of course, suffered the ultimate non-injury disaster in the match the day before: the utter destruction of a much loved, well cared for broomstick that had served him well since his very first days at Montrose. People just didn't understand why he'd kept onto the old thing, and he was well used to the mocking of it (and that was just Angus). The loss of the snitch still grated on him, but there was no way he could avoid this - not only were they so close to the Neep, but there were the many practice sessions in between. A borrowed broom would only do for long - he NEEDED to be used to even a short term loaner before these important matches. Even if he eventually ordered a custom, it would take some time to get it approved, and he would have to know where to go for such a thing anyway.

And thus, bright and early on the Sunday, he sat in his living room awaiting the Montrose gang who had chosen to come with. Mug of tea in hand, Toby at his feet, the broken pieces of the faithful old Comet were on the table, high enough to be out of the dog's way. The plan was thus: meet here, head out to the practice pitch where several broom companies had been only to eager to send one of their latest models, and test one enough to decide it would do, for the next few weeks at least. Hopefully, the best of the bunch would be one worth keeping, but he was never going to take that for granted.

As the doorbell rang, he got up to see who it was, Toby trotting obediently after him.

Jamie is here thanks to Jason. He is also bursting (and frustrated) that he can't openly disclose what's coming but he is hoping to work something out. He's brought their custom broom testing kit, the model they use to let their custom clients test the brand.

At least that's what he has openly. Anything else he has with him is secret and private.

Lennox is still surprised they managed to bring something today, because his mind was on the idea of custom brooms being something that had to be worked on before being given something to test (hey, it's not his business, it's theirs!).

Before he gets on it, he asks Jamie to explain to him what the process is, and how they go about customising things for their clients. Do they tweak this broom to fit, design from scratch based on how the client flies this one, or something else? He wants to know this before he flies, so that any feedback he gives later is more helpful.

"We keep a few test models so riders can get a feel for the design and features they might like. Typically we'd have a longer consultation to discuss how you want the broom to fly but in the interest of expediency, I've made a few modifications to this one based on how I've seen you fly. If you like it, we can get you in for a proper broom fitting. The broom would be made just for you."

A pause because Jamie is very aware his competition is listening. "I'd urge you to have a private consultation about an Abercrombie and King broom before you make your final decision."

It's killing Jamie not be able to show off his Seeker model publicly. He doesn't show it. But it's killing him.

Lennox listens carefully, getting a feel for the process even if he's not going to be getting a custom...yet. He's holding off on that decision making process until after season's end, when he's got time to commit to getting things perfect.

"Well, shall we?" he asks, gesturing towards the broom.
