IC/OOC - Who's Ready to Meet Montrose's New PR Guy?

internalmemo
Montrose Magpies Team PR Office
2 March 2000

TO: Montrose Staff and Players

FROM: Montrose Magpies Team Office

SUBJECT: Getting to Know You!
Hello, Magpies!

No doubt, you have seen a new face around the offices, so I thought I'd send out a memo to briefly introduce myself. My name is Alex Winters, and I'll be taking over the Public Relations position from Aureliana effective immediately. She's agreed to stay on for a brief time as we transition her work to me, and I'm very excited to get started here! I'm sure all of you have appreciated the hard work she put in during the interim.

A little about me: I was born in Scotland, but moved to America when I was really little, and grew up in Seattle, WA. I went to Ilvermorny- Go, Horned Serpents!- and then interned for a marketing firm in Manhattan before being hired on full time. This was my primary background- international corporate accounts- for nearly ten years, when I felt it was time for a change.

But I'm not here to bore you with the details! I'd really like to get to know everyone here, but I know that everyone is busy with three upcoming matches this month, so I'm asking if you could please find the time to either schedule a time or just stop by my office for a brief 5-10 minute chat so I can get to know the team a little better.

If you find you don't have time, or small talk just really isn't your thing, I've attached a brief form that includes some talking points you can also use if you wish. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you, and can't wait to see the Unbeatable Magpies in action again!

"No offense taken to it at all, at the end of the day that's a big part of your job. Keeping the public from seeing all the little fires that happen."

Merc sat back in his chair, crossed his arms and looked up as he considered his player.

"Alright, hmm might do this starter then reserve. Just because the starters will be getting a bit more of the brunt of the press. Okay:

Lennox Campbell is our star seeker. Very talented lad, safe hands, great focused flier. And...you probably don't need to know or care about any of that. Suffice to say, he's a dream seeker on the pitch. Off..quiet, introverted, anxious, likes to keep out of the spotlight largely. Which is fine by me, whatever he needs to work well, I'll give it to him. You're unlikely to get many interviews out of him or even public appearances, but he's great with kids and he's been willing to show up to charity events to help out if he's allowed to sort of be around and do his own thing. He's been seeing someone to help with all that and I believe has a girl who's been showing up to the Montrose box. A seeker weekly reporter? I think that's the only personal thing of his to watch out for with the press.

For the chasers we have Jason, Maddock, and Roger.

Jason King is our lead chaser, an old hand at Montrose, and I'm sure you've seen him in the press recently. I think he might be the one you'll be seeing the most of in the papers, though it's all very positive things. He's top chaser material and broom races on the side. We've built it into his contract and training programs so you might find a bit of double duty with incorporating that into his coverage but I always figured that was a good extra talking point for interviews.

Actually he might be triple duty for you since there's Uplift too. They go by Uplift right now, but you'd recognize them by pink more. Look, it's no secret he's a muggleborn who was thrown in Azkaban for part of the war and Jason has been absolutely wonderful this season about coming back into the sport strong and really bringing awareness to changes that we need to see, not just in quidditch. He's a good leader, great in front of the press though I think you'll find he's more likely to inform you about his plans on that front than ask you, and I'm hardly one to fault that method. Lad knows what to say and do in front of a reporter and how to conduct himself. You'll get a lot of political coverage with him, not so much the sort of scandal Circe likes.
