[Alasdair]

So I've recently read the most delightful thing.

So you know how Françoise sends me fashion magazines from France? I happened to be reading the latest one she sent and... well, on one page they happened to have the results on a recent poll they'd posed their readers. It's pretty interesting that it seems as if opinion is split fairly evenly over whether your behind looks better in Portree purple or Quiberon pink.

At least you can be sure that nobody here will have been likely to have seen the, and I use the word rather loosely, article.

On a more serious note, I haven't actually asked either of them just yet but I was thinking of asking Françoise and Anais to be my maid of honour and one of my bridesmaids. Although I suppose in Françoise's case it's actually matron of honour. I haven't been able to think of anyone else yet.

I'd forgotten how interesting French wizarding fashion magazines can be sometimes.

[ooc: not very clearly purple (or pink) but an example of what the article may have had as pictures.]

...I'm more worried about your doing so in public view.

She seemed... well, surprisingly thrilled about it, actually.

What, you're putting him on my side now? I'm sure he'd look fetching in a bridesmaid dress.

Never in public view, chéri, I wouldn't want to share.

That's a good reaction though, right?

...sorry? While I'm sure you'd love to see that happen, I'm fairly sure that would be his reasoning to not</i> be part of my side.

Share opinions or the real thing?

Yes, I would have thought so. She joked about wearing her tartan in solidarity.

We can sort him out anyway, it's not a big deal.

The real thing, obviously. I'd quite happily tell anyone my opinion on your behind if I knew it wouldn't actually bother you at all.

So you won't be alone in wearing... bright tartan then?

And I'll probably find more for my side. I would like for any of our wedding party photos to not look... uneven. Although it's obviously not the part of the day I'm looking forward to...

Behind closed doors you can speak as freely as you like, my love.

And you don't need to use euphemisms, my love. We all know the full Buchanan tartan is on the loud side,

Our photographs will look glorious, I'm sure. Though for the sake of neighbours, we should probably get some of the muggle variety taken, no?

And I can't even begin to imagine what you mean there...

Thank you, mon amor, that's good to know.

It is rather... garish. I do like that one that version that's slightly muted though - that one's not so bad.

A very good idea, mon chéri.

The cake, obviously...

I'm already working on the lads for the idea that it will definitely be the Hunter tartan, if I have anything to do with it.

I have them occasionally...

Cake. hmm.

I'm sure you'll be able to convince them.

Oh, more than occasionally I'd say.

Which we'll have to decide on as well. And then there's the first dance to look forward to.

To be fair, it's not their wedding so they don't get to pick.

Oh hell, decisions decisions.

True - still I don't think you'll have any trouble with the convincing.

Something chocolate?

That's what I mean, it's less about convincing and more about doing as they're supposed to!

Beats bloody fruit cake.

At least you don't have to try and decide what colour is best for all the bridesmaids?

I know it's the tradition and all, but I really don't want fruit cake for our wedding.

Pick your favourite, job done?

Given what traditionally gets done with it, it's no wonder i find it all dry.

I don't know which is my favourite though.

It's the fruit part I've never been fond of even though I normally like fruit - I just don't like it dried or candied.

I know it's my... our day, but I don't want my bridesmaid looking... what's less stronger a word than horrid?

There's that too... So some kind of chocolate cake then?

Nice save there, my dear.

I think that will probably work best for most people. Or something with a very light flavour for those who don't eat anything heavy.

Just wrote a little too quickly before my brain caught up. Because I do see it as our day - I can't wait!

Well, depending on the numbers we could possibly get away with one of each? Though without completely going over the top.

Or a layer of one and a layer of another if we do keep it small. Guess it's up to whoever makes the thing.

Ah, yes, that part. Funny how everyone talks about the day itself and for us it's what comes after that's more important...

Don't get me wrong I'm looking forward to the day, but all the planning and everything... I won't miss any of that. But what comes after... I can't wait for any of that. And I don't just mean the wedding night - although I'm sure that'll be wonderful too.
