If you didn't listen to Quidditch by the Numbers today, you were really missing out. And for those of you that were at yesterday's Montrose-Puddlemere EXTRAVAGANZA, you were really, really missing out, because Charlie told us all the good stuff about that crazy rule that made the match.

Lucky for you, I hear the WWN is going to rerun it by popular request.

[Study Group sans Maggie]

The jerseys are almost ready. If Muir cries tears of joy, I'm taking all of the credit.

[Study Group]

I almost got a "Da" out of Gina today. The "D" was definitely there. Charlie was ready to cry tears of joy, and I was ready to get photographic evidence.

... I've been going to her matches! Or listening on the wireless when I can't. She plays beater, I understand that position.

I think the fact that Pye's girlfriend plays Quidditch makes this the best ever.

We actually met at Mungo's you know. When one of her teammates was there back in December.

Because of all the "quidditch is so dangerous" talk, and now you you're dating a quidditch player who you met again at Mungo's while she was there with a teammate, presumably with a quidditch-related injury.

It is all very ironic but honestly it hadn't even occurred to me at the time.

I mean... we actually talked because I was in Healer Mode not in usual Pye mode that runs away or can't talk to pretty girls... but we didn't talk about healer things. Or Quidditch things.

And I thought about it for a few days. And while I was back to being terrified, I knew if I waited much longer to ask her out, I probably never would.

One could also argue that you got by with a little help from your friends.

Yes, well... okay fine I went in with the intention, and the terrifying part took over until Maggie poked at me.

♥ And all you needed was the threat of physical violence and eternal loneliness!

Probably the physical violence as the fear of eternal loneliness hadn't pushed me far enough before.

Which is good! Amazing, even. I know plenty of blokes who wouldn't go to half those efforts for a girl they'd been dating for two months.

But if you really want this to go somewhere? Somewhere that's worth it? I'd recommend learning to appreciate what she does, and not just observe it.

You know I love you, Pye. Only giving advice where I think it matters.

I am trying.

... to be fair Dani, I am going to try, but I still see a lot of the worst side of Quidditch. It can be hard to appreciate it.

I appreciate the advice really, but I'm going to do this at my own pace.

That is fair. Just remember that people get injured and sick doing loads of other jobs, too. They just don't get quite the same attention as Quidditch.

And that I like. If you went on about the rest with as much assurance as that, then I'm pretty sure I'd never even want to give you advice.

I can't wait to get to know her outside of work. I even promise to hold Charlie back, if necessary.

I know. Honestly, I wish I was getting more cases with people in other jobs. It makes me fixate on Quidditch players are crazy.

[...]

Oh. I don't really know where that assurance came from actually...

Please thanks for this.

Aren't there other departments? You could transfer if it gets to be too much of a weight.

I do. I know exactly where it comes from. You're a smart wizard. You'll figure it out.

You're on your own with Muir, though. Sorry. I've got a one-year-old and only so many hands.

Well I would like to get back to the Danger ward... that's where I started. But on the other hand, I am still keen on improving healing magic with what I know of Muggle medicine. And critical trauma became my thing. Not just Quidditch players. They just seem to come in more often.

Okay...

[Study Group sans Maggie]
I know... Should I warn Kal? Hamish didn't.

Maybe they're giving you all of the Quidditch cases because you're good at it.

Maybe a soft warning? Don't scare the poor girl. She'll just need a minute to adjust.
