If you’ve never been to Japan, I highly recommend Shikoku Island. And if anyone’s wondering where I ran off to last week, that would be where. I could live there, actually.

Good thing portkeys exist and don’t always break, so I can go back sometime.

Everything was so green and other than the technology in some areas you couldn't distinguish between Muggle and magical.

Can't work out if it's fortunate or un- that Quidd is mine (for now). not sure if I could swing it in the off-season, though

Well, look at it this way. You know when you'll have time off. You can save up for it. Travel can be ridiculously affordable (since not all of us are professionally quidditch players) if you know where to look, especially depending on where you want to go.

And then it's what you want to do when you get there. There are some places you can go to and there's absolutely things you'll want to see or need to witness, but there's also a lot to be said for wandering a place just to get to know it without expectations.

And if you ever get the chance to just go do something, do it! Don't regret that time you could have gone to Japan but didn't because you weren't going to know anyone there. Or that time you didn't just drop everything to watch the Goblins play while they were on a crazy winning streak. What's the point? Saving a few galleons?

Okay, but I didn't have a lot of money growing up, so I don't know what to do with it, because even now I'm exchanging a lot of what I'm making and sending it to my parents, because they don't have a lot and you don't really care about this so I'm just going to cross it all out

You should work on a travel guide book.

That's far too much writing for me.

[Monte]

Yeah? That's far too neat for your quill to have broken, mate.

Hire a ghost writer? Dictate?

[Hamish]

It's just [...] things like portkeys and traveling [...] you make it sound so easy, and I don't really come from a place where that seems [...] attainable.

God, that just sounds whiny. Sorry.

I just mean that it makes no sense to me. It sounds really amazing and all, but not something I can see in my own future- at least not immediately.

Oh now that's an idea. Can't imagine Maggie's face if she saw a book with my name as the author...

[Monte]

Right. I get you. So it seems unattainable but it all depends on what you want and how comfortable you are in groups or in nature. Travel with a group of mates, staying somewhere suddenly becomes far more affordable. You can get across to France on brooms, you can apparate, it's not that far at all. From there, Europe by rail is ridiculous cheap if you get a pass and make the most of it. You can camp out, just bring a tent. If you're not concerned with having a hot shower every morning, even better.

Don't worry about finding fancy places to eat at. Try the smaller hole-in-the wall places that tend to be a far better value. If you find one in particular that you like, go back a few times. They'll remember you, even if you show up again a year or two later.

Pick and choose what, if anything, you spend any significant money on. Go with the right people. And just enjoy yourself. Then you can start thinking about longer trips that might require more research or investment but for now, just get your feet wet, mate.

Pro-tip: Never "ghost" anything. More trouble than it's worth.

Sorry for the interruption, just wanted to interject that Very Important Fact.

Questionably good stories become better after a pint. Maybe later this week after the Pride have played and you all have celebrated?

You sure I couldn't just shadow you for a couple of these trips? All of that sounds fantastic in theory. It's the practical bits that make me freeze up.

Sounds like you could be my travel guru.
