He shakes his head. "Coach is playing all the reserves this match, because this team is not good." He gestured to the scoreboard, which really said it all. "So I'm only watching this time. The dogs..." He clicked his tongue softly, still uncertain about this. "The good one is Jason's and the one with more hair is Roger's and the one that jumps is Maddock's and the black one is Lennox's and now there's a tiny one that's his friend's. I don't know. I stay away from them."

Georgi's assessment of the Cannons is true, but she can't help but wince at his matter-of-fact delivery. She decides to keep it to herself that she played with them for a few years, and makes up her mind to go and say hi to them after the match, however it winds up going down. Ainsley blinks a little as her gaze goes to the dogs as they're indicated- she sees Jason and offers him a smile and a wave; the 'playing all the reserves' comment made Jason's presence make more sense as well- and then back to Georgi. "Not a fan of the canines?"

	"No," Georgi admits, with a little frown and a lowered voice so as not to hurt anyone's feelings. "Since I was a kid I don't like dogs. But Jason's dog isn't so bad. He's smart." He smiles at her, not wanting to dwell on dog topics. "I didn't think I'd see you in the Magpie box. Are you a friend of Fraser?" he asked, nodding toward Ernie's cousin. "I must confess, I'm a bit... leery around animals as well. I like them well enough, but I find them to be a bit too-" she pauses over the word- "unpredictable." This is usually where someone makes the argument that humans are no less unpredictable, but it isn't the same to her, and she's given up trying to explain or rationalize it a long time ago. She glances over to where Fraser is speaking to someone else, and her smile goes soft around the edges. As she looks back over at Georgi, she can't help but see something/one that makes that smile slip, just for an instant. "More than a friend. We're dating. He's... my boyfriend. Either that, or I've come to spy on your team, and I'll have to Obliviate you once we've finished this conversation. You don't mind, do you? I promise to make it painless."

	"Oh," Georgi remarks, with raised eyebrows of mild surprise. "Congratulations. I didn't know that Macmillans are dating. Are you -- engaged?" He smiles over at her. If Ainsley had been drinking anything at the moment, she definitely would have choked on it at Georgi's seemingly innocent question. As it is, she stares at him for a few seconds, eyes wide and mouth slightly open, trying to work out of he's kidding. Given his own guileless expression, however, she finally reaches the conclusion that he's serious. Her pause just feels like a bit too long, but she attempts to cover it with a polite cough and a shake of her head. "Ah, no. It's only been a couple of months, so that... hasn't come up yet."

Not that such a thing was unheard of- look at her own parents, after all- but his last statement brings her up short, and she looks at him, puzzled. "You're not planning to stay next year? I don't know why, but I assumed you were getting on well here."

Her puzzlement puzzles him, so for a minute there are some baffled looks on both sides. But he lets that go because it's really not his business, anyway, and he knows he doesn't really understand dating and marriage the same way other people do, and that's okay.

"I'm only contracted with Montrose for this season," he tells her, matter-of-fact. "I'm here to fill in while the first George heals from his... you know." Georgi raps his knuckles gently on his temple. "Of course, everyone has been very kind, and I like it here, but they all are wanting him to come back. So I don't know where I will be next year."

"Oh! I see." It makes sense, of course, but she can't help but feel a bit of sympathy for Georgi. Her own career choices made it far more likely that she could be traded at any given moment, but that didn't keep her from getting quickly attached to her new teammates. "Do you have plans to stay in the BIQL? Surely with enough games under your belt in this back half, someone will see you playing and snatch you up before the next season."

He clicks his tongue softly, not sure what he can say while surrounded by teammates and coach and manager, not to mention Ernie. "Maybe," he says at last, careful to keep his voice low. "I was supposed to go home to Bulgaria to be married in the summer. But..." He shrugs, giving her a little bit of embarrassed smile, unwilling to share the complicated bits of his future. "I don't know. Now maybe I'll stay here longer. Everyone is telling me I'll like Scotland in the summer."

For the second time in their brief conversation, Ainsley is openly surprised, but she tries to master the expression when she notes his furtive approach to the topic. She reaches out to put a hand on his forearm, the gesture meant as friendly reassurance. "I'm sure there are several people around who would like it very much if you stayed. And they're right; nothing beats a Scottish summer."
