As half of you lot know already, I'm heading out to Canada for a bit on New Year's Day. I'll be back before you have a chance to miss me, but if there's anything you lot want me to bring you back from far-off places, now's your chance to beg for loot. Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Tobermory does a very nice fireworks on Hogmanay, if you reckon your lass might be interested. I've signed up with my brothers to take a band of my nieces and nephews out to the Muggle side for the holiday. We're going ice skating, the weans love that, then to the hotel for supper and games, then out to the clock tower to see the fireworks show. Reckon you and Lynn might want to join?

I'll offer them the chance to sleep in a real castle, but were I you, I wouldn't expect them to actually sleep. I'll try to pick them up before they get grouchy.

Is your castle haunted, by any chance? Lynn keeps talking about the "nice ghosts" at Hogwarts.

Florrie is a saint, she fell all over herself telling Mrs. O'Sullivan that she wasn't my wife, which in retrospect is sad. No one takes you seriously when you wear a giant bird suit for a living.

Well, that's brilliant. Wish I'd thought of that as a kid.

For one, Stoneybrae's no castle, and I reckon even calling it a manor house might be overstating the case. Clan Campbell's got castles on the mainland, but our branch is far removed from those types. And we do have a ghost, but she's rather shy and rarely shows her face except to family, so your lass may be a wee bit disappointed if she goes in hoping for a friendly haunting.

Don't be so hard on yourself, mate, it was probably your face she didna want to claim.
