Happy Christmas, Justin. Even works through windscreen glass - I tested them!

Best Wishes For The New Year, Ernie

Inside are a set of racing goggles for visibility in clouds and fog.

Happy Christmas, Georgi. A little something for your new fireplace mantle. See if you can guess from who.

Inside is a small porcelain diorama that has a rabbit and a sheep on a small hillock. The two are charmed to move around, eat, and otherwise interact with each other playfully, sometimes involving props.

Happy Christmas, Roger. Thank you for all your help this year with my experiments.

Best Wishes For The New Year, Ernie

Inside is a gold broomstick tie pin that is charmed to sing a programmed theme song. Ernie's picked 'The Flash' by The Breakpoints.

(don't worry, cousins, he's giving you yours in person)

Dear Ernie,

Thank you very much for your present. Of course I know it's from you. It will make me smile when I look at it.

What I have for you needs explanation. In Bulgaria in winter we have a celebration called kukeri, that is meant to keep away bad feelings, evil creatures, and dark magic. The men wear these masks and dance and sing to scare away all the bad things that come out when it is dark. I hope that this will keep all bad things away from you, too. If you want to make it big to wear you can hit your wand on it, and the same to make it small again.

Are you I'm sorry for

Весела Коледа, which is Vesela Koleda, or Happy Christmas.

Your friend,
Georgi

[Enclosed: a miniature kuker mask, about the size of your hand, expandable to full mask size when tapped with a wand.]

Dear Georgi,

What a very thoughtful gift. My mother is annoyed with me over it because she collects masks and wants to put it in her study, but that's just tough luck on her part.

You're over at the McGonagalls for Christmas/Boxing Day?

Dear Ernie,

If your mother would like a kuker mask I am happy to get one for her. I only have to owl my uncle, who makes them. What kind of masks does she have?

You're right, I am at Coach's home for Christmas since they were so kind to ask me. He and Gabi and the children are leaving for Brazil on Christmas Day, so I'm alone after that. But not lonely, since I have Drago. And my friends, like you.

Your friend,
Georgi

Dear Georgi,

This one is from the Luba people in Zaire. And this one is from Sri Lanka. And this one the tag has come off, but I think it's Ecuador or Columbia or something.

The next time you come by, I'll show you the whole wall. I've always thought that it was pretty creepy looking, but she says that's the point. Needless to say (although I keep writing so maybe not needless), a kuker mask would be well at home.

When do your cousins arrive again?

Also Your Friend,
Ernie

Dear Ernie,

Those are very interesting pictures, thank you. Do all those places have celebrations like Bulgarian kukeri? I would like to see them one time. And I will owl my uncle Tsvetan for your mother. He will be happy to send one for her.

Nadezhda and Alexei will come on 4 January and stay four days. I hope you will meet them. I I'd like I have asked my team to come to my new house on 7 January for a Bulgarian dinner. If you're not busy, maybe you will come, too.

Your friend,
Georgi

Ernie,

So you survived Christmas? Any plans for Boxing Day yet?

Enjoy your tinkering. Let me know if anything blows up in a spectacular way.

Justin,

Thank you for the mobile! Does it have a working number?

As long as I get through tonight, it will all be smooth sailing from there.

No plans for Boxing Day except for the usual House Elf stuff in the morning. You?

Ernie,

No. It can be. I just thought you might want to poke around the insides.

Nothing yet. Mum and Dad are heading...somewhere. I wasn't paying attention. Italy? St. Tropez?

Justin,

I do! But I'd love to see what I can do with the broadcast signal. And I still don't quite understand the microchips...

You're not going to go?

Ernie,

Thank you so much! I love the pin and tune! Have a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for the New Year!

Hopefully my owl will deliver your gift along with this note, if he hasn't broken into the box and eaten it.

Roger

p.s. always happy to help with experiments!
