It's been four days, and I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the Bad Ideas party from Friday night.

When Portree parties, they really don't do it by halves.

Anyway, all that to say that I've finally settled into my new place! It's on the Island of Raasay, so I'm virtually a stone's throw from practice now.

The only drawback is I have a roommate.

Meet Cecil Winterberry, b. ????, d. 8 October 1781, Poet, Pontificator, Potential Pain in My Arse

He's so annoyed that I managed to get this shot of him, but it's not like he can stop me from putting it down here! We're still working out a system, but at least I've stopped him popping up in my W.C. or waking up to him staring at me while I sleep. Dead creepy that. Literally.

Anyway, I really want to have some kind of housewarming to-do after the holidays, so be on the lookout for additional details there.

[Ro]

Thank you again so much for helping me get settled. Cecil is still apologizing for the mishap in the guest bedroom. He won't shut up about it. I hope your break is going well.

[Razor/Fraser]

I'm assuming by now you've seen the Circe article. I know it's not down to me that we warranted a mention, but I can't help but want to apologize for it. I had a great time, though. Maybe we can surf again sometime? Or we can try ice climbing next?

Also, now that I know a bit better who you are- thanks, Circe?- I felt I should tell you that I accidentally called Mel by your name on Saturday morning in a spectacular feat of mental acuity. In other words, I was hungover all to hell and definitely had you on the brain.

[Maggie]

Can we just agree that Bad Ideas are just that and maybe give them a miss for awhile? Also, what's the policy on dating- or trying to date- Quidditch commissioners?

Mentally hungover for sure.

[Ainsley]
You are seriously the best. Do you want me to come over and help tomorrow? I feel guilty now with you doing so much!

Extra? Of course I don't mind!

That should really be posted somewhere. I mean, it's completely unreasonable to expect us to actually learn from our mistakes.

[Lorna]
Don't worry about it, really! It's my pleasure, and it gave me a chance to really break in my new kitchen. Cecil was oddly helpful too- just wait until you try the gingersnaps. His poetry may be awful, but he's a little uncanny with his spices.

[...]

I'm not really sure if I should be asking you this, because it might not even be anything at all or you may not be in a position to advise me, but do you know or can you think of any BIL rules against a player dating a commissioner?

Well that's why the bad idea party is annual. See if you make the same mistakes or new ones.

[Ainsley]
I have never thought of Ghost being helpful bakers...

Oh. Well, I'm not sure. Owen would probably know. Is this about you and Fraser?

Maybe I should charm a reminder to this entry before next year's. Dear self- please recall the dreadful hangover from last year, and make better decisions, re: mixed drinks. Love, A

[Lorna]
Spiritual hidden depths, apparently.

Well, I mean, if the commissioner seems keen, maybe it's okay? [...] Yes. It is. Is that okay? The Macmillans are typically Montro No, bugger it.

Yes but there might very well be other parties before then.

[Ainsley]
I wonder what else you'll learn with a ghost roommate. ... Where does he go when you sleep?

Probably it would be okay. I mean, as long as you were up front and didn't become a conflict of interest.

speaking of One hopes they're not quite as eventful.

[Lorna]
I imagine patience will be my biggest take-away. And also that the terms of cheaper rent should be identified more carefully and the prospective ghost roommate should be fully vetted before agreeing to move in. If I leave no other legacy in this life, it will be these pearls of wisdom.

As for his whereabouts... I'm pretty sure he just wanders around downstairs. He's at least been respectful enough that he keeps the nighttime noise to a minimum.

Thanks, Lorna. Sometimes I just need a voice of reason.

Never a dull moment when working for Portree though.

[Ainsley]
I guess they thought you do wouldn't take the flat if you knew it was haunted but good to know.

Well, as long as you're getting the boundaries defined. Why is he still there?

I've never been accused of being the voice of reason in my life, ha.

Truer words, my stalwart captain, truer words.

[Lorna]
You know how most of the Hogwarts ghosts couldn't wait to tell you about their tragic backstory? I think I've finally met the only one who refuses to talk about it. May just take time, but who knows. I'm trying not to press for now.

First is worst, Cap.

Interesting. Well, if you have to live with him, that's probably for the best. That's odd isn't it? Living with a ghost...

I'll just say it's my husband's good influence.

It's certainly been an adjustment, that's for sure. I kind of get the impression that we're still feeling each other out. It's a bit like having a new pet.

There are definitely worse influences to have.

And I guess you can't just ask him to leave?

This is true. Some would say different...

Be a bit rude, him being here first and all. It'll be fine, though, I'm sure. It's not like we can actually kill each other.

Thanks for checking in. See you at practice!

Yes, that is absolutely true. And you'll never drink alone ever again.

No problem!
