It's a little late, but better late then never, no?

I know there are a few runners out there (Yes, I'm looking at you. You = Max, Laura, and Gwen) and I thought I'd inform you that there is a marathon and a half-marathon going on June 25th.

I don't suppose anyone would be interested in joining me, would they? I promise rewards* if you do.

*Rewards are given at my discretion. Don't pout, I'll be sure to give everyone something fitting.

I'm pretty sure your rewards should come with a warning. And everything is about winning.

For all that you know, the reward could simply be a gift certificate or something equally unassuming. Warnings are not needed for such things.

Though, if I beat you, perhaps you should give me a reward. Yes, I'm still fully aware that you are taken and that we are purely 'platonic', but just in the spirit of things.

But you're not going to beat me, Jonathan.

And you're quite sure about that?

I'm absolutely fucking positive.

Then what's the harm in a friendly little bet between the pair of us, if you're so confident?

You're on.

And what, pray tell, would I win if I somehow beat you against all the odds there seem to be?

Curious minds want to know.

But you won't.

But you must allow for the possibility.

Must I?

You must.

No matter how improbable?

No matter.

Besides, if it's so certain you'll win, what do you have to lose?
