Minor Injury Meme

A meme for those minor injuries that won't leave you down but make it hard to live your life. The breaks, sprains, and the hurt/comfort that comes with them.

INJURIES

1. SPRAIN: you stepped the wrong way, twisted the wrong way, and something has gone terribly wrong. Just remember RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

2. FRACTURE: You step off the sidewalk, working in the backyard, and suddenly BAM!! But it's not a sprain, oh no, you're in a cast for the duration. Good luck trying to get to work.

3. PULLED: It's not bad enough for medical attention but it still hurts something fierce. Break out the tiger balm or someone to give you a hand because you've pulled something. That awkward moment when you think you want vicodin...and nobody will give it to you.

4. MIGRAINE: Light hurts, air hurts, moving hurts. All you can do is lie in a darkened room and pray for the pounding pain to go away behind your eyes.

5. THE FLU: Maybe you're physically fine – well… all your limbs are working. You just feel like death warmed over.

6. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

SCENARIOS

1. INJURED! WHAT NEXT?: You're out working, you're out having fun, you're out doing something when suddenly you step, twist, move and our bodies demonstrate just how fragile they really are. Quick! someone call the ambulance!

2. THE EMERGENCY ROOM: All the fun of a waiting room with rewards that include crutches, casts, X-Rays, vicodin, and sometimes just that one nurse who says "Yeah there's nothing wrong with you that'll be 400 dollars."

3. HOME AND SETTING UP THE NEST: Hurt, trying to make a space for you to get around. Hopefully someone is there to help you get to your crutches so you can go to the bathroom and make yourself something to eat.

4. PHYSICAL THERAPY HOME EDITION: The obligatory smut option. Do you not see that I'm wearing this cast?

5. OH GOD HELP I'M GOING TO DIE: That awkward moment when the fact that you are bedridden is crushing down on you and you're terrified you'll do something to make the injury worse. Snappish, angry, and rude - who are you going to take it out on?

6. DRIVE ME TO THE DOCTOR THIS SHIT IS COMING OFF: It's time, they say you can come in, take it off, and begin the next stage of recovery. Failing that, you’re going to grab a saw and cut the damn thing off yourself! Will there be joy, laughter, crying, happiness?

7. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

Peter looked at Lukas. "Hey, kiddo, you want to go to the gift shop with me and Daniel? Maybe Uncle Tony would like a present." He ruffled the kid's dark curls with his free hand. He thought maybe they should go breathe some air that wasn't full of tension.

Lukas nodded. "Yay! Let's go!" He said, holding up his arms to Daniel. "Up!" He commanded, giggling. Peter stood. tugging Daniel's hand. "Come on, babe." He said, and met Thor's eyes, who gave him a nod, telling him it was alright to take Lukas with him.

"Up, up!" Lukas giggled more, jumping a little. He was excited.

Daniel gave Peter a thankful look. He got to his feet and scooped Lukas up in his arms, resting him on his hip. He felt a little guilty, after all, he was supposed to be there to support Peter in his time of need, not causing a scene and having a freak-out.

Once they were out of the room and on the way to the gift shop Daniel looked over at Peter. "Thank you. Sorry. I just... I needed to breathe."

"It's okay, babe." Peter told him, a finger hooked in his belt loop. Lukas was bouncing happily on Daniel's slim hip, looking around at everything there was to see, oblivious to the conversation. Peter knew Daniel hadn't meant to start anything. It had all happened so fast, and it was out of Daniel's hands.

"What was with Jessalyn standing up for us?! I mean, I'm glad, but who the h saw that coming!?" He asked, remembering to watch his words just in case Lukas did hear. He didn't want to have to explain to the God of Thunder and Captain America why their son knew a bad word. Especially when he knew the Norse word for it.

"I don't think I've ever even heard her say that many words before, and definitely not altogether like that. It sure was something though!" Maybe she didn't want to murder him, after all. Although, Daniel was still pretty sure that Bruce wanted to kill him.

"I don't think your Pop likes me all that much. Too bad my Jersey charm doesn't have the same effect on him that it did on your dad."

"Don't worry, Pop will calm down. He's just worried about Dad." Peter said, Lukas adjusted in Daniel's arms, one arm was wrapped around his slim shoulders, his other hand on his chest, and he was humming a song under his breath. Peter snuck a glance at him, and giggled.

Then he turned back to their conversation. "I've heard her say more, but not often, and it's not usually in my favor. She's... it's weird." Peter said, shaking his head.

Lukas was seriously the cutest kid ever. Daniel hoped if he and Peter ever had kids that they'd be like him. That was a discussion for way down the line though. They were way too young to be thinking about children.

"No offence, babe. But your whole family is weird," Daniel teased, shooting Peter a grin. But he had a point, they were a little out there. Then again, the fact he was living with a fifty-plus-year-old man and working in his little tree shop was probably just as weird to some people.

"Oh please, says the man who's family takes the cake for weird, Mr. Italian." Peter smirked, ruffling Lukas' curls. He'd always thought it was weird Lukas had gotten Odin's hair color. Not when both Thor and Steve were blonde. Lukas stuck his tongue out at him.

"Daniel's not weird." He told him, and Peter broke out laughing. "Okay, okay, he's not. I forgot, you're the president of the Daniel LaRusso fan club."

Daniel laughed softly. "Well at least I have one member of your family in my corner," he said, ruffling Lukas' hair the same way Peter had moments before. As they got closer to the gift shop, Daniel set Lukas down on the ground, but made sure to keep hold of his hand so he didn't run off.

"And I thought you were the president of my fan club? You get all the exclusive rewards, Petey."

"I don't think he'll let me, he might let me be vp." Peter said, shrugging innocently. Lukas looked up at Daniel. "What do we look at first? I want to get something for Unca Tony." He informed them, reaching up with his other hand for Peter's, too.

Peter said, "He'll like anything you get him, kiddo." Peter took his hand though, and looked at what was closest to them. "Maybe they have a book he'd like, kiddo, Uncle Tony likes to read." He leaned over to kiss Daniel.

"You've got Dad too, and Morgan. I swear, Morgan probably wants to do you too."

Daniel returned the kiss, smiling softly. "Hm. Guess you're the VP then. Don't worry, you'll still get all the exclusive rewards, I promise."

He scrunched his nose up at Peter's comment. "Dude! She's your sister! She definitely doesn't want to do me! There can't be two of you with such bad taste."

Daniel crouched down next to Lukas to look at the books. "Hey Lukas, once we've picked out a gift for Tony, do you wanna pick out a toy for you?"

"Oh, baby, yes she does, you're so cute." Peter said, laughing. He rubbed Daniel's back. "And you apparently haven't seen you. You're so sexy and adorable at the same time." He said, shaking his head.

Then he watched Lukas, who seemed to be digesting this question. "But it's not my birthday." He said, confused. "And I'm not sick." He added, still holding onto Peter's hand tightly.

Now that Daniel was leaning in front of him, he put his tiny hand on Daniel's shoulder.

	Daniel tried not to blush at Peter's words. And failed. Damn it. He rubbed at his blushed cheeks and tried to focus on Lukas. He rested his hand on top of Lukas' tiny one. "Well sometimes it's nice just to have a treat. And you've been so good. Sitting in the hospital for a long time is no fun. So, go on. Pick out a small toy. My treat." Lukas cocked his head, and Peter did his best not to laugh. The kid was being serious, it's not his fault he was adorable and reminded Peter of a puppy.

He looked at Daniel for a long moment, and then he smiled, showing off the tiny baby teeth that had taken so long to grow in. "Okay! Thanks, Daniel." He said, letting go of Peter's hand so he could hug him tightly.

	Daniel hugged Lukas back, grinning brightly. "Don't mention it, Lukas. It's my pleasure." He might not have a lot of money to spare, but it was worth spending some just to see the smile on the kid's face. He really was a great kid. 	Lukas let go so he could look at the toys. First, he picked out a stuffed bear with a Hulk shirt on it for Tony. Peter chuckled. "Oh, Lukas, Uncle Tony will love it." It was true, and it was also something he didn't know they made. But he also wasn't surprised. Then he picked out a Barbie for himself. "She's a doctor!" He said excitedly, bouncing on his feet. Daniel didn't think he'd ever get used to the fact that his fiance and his fiance's family had merchandise with their faces on - or well, mask, in Peter's case. It was still so surreal to him.

The bear was really cute though.

Daniel looked down at Lukas' Barbie, smiling softly at the boy. "Hey look at that, she has a stethoscope and doctor's coat and everything. Barbie must be really smart to be a doctor." And a vet, astronaut, teacher, fashionista, barista, jeez, that girl was always on the go.

	"Yeah! She can heal all the ouchies." Lukas nodded importantly. Peter ruffled his curls. "Yes, kiddo, perfect Barbie." He agreed, taking the bear from him. "You're just all set, kiddo." Lukas held onto Daniel's pant leg while they waited in line, once again humming a song. "Blue skidoo, we can too!" He sung under his breath, and Peter did his best not to giggle. Daniel wasn't quite as good at holding back his laugh. But it was a warm laugh, not cruel at all. It just warmed his heart to see Lukas so happy. And who didn't love Blue?

He pulled out his wallet and handed over the bear and the Barbie so that he could pay for them. He handed the Barbie box to Lukas to carry, ignoring the remark from someone behind them that Barbies were a girl toy, not a boy toy. "Come on, Lukas, once we get back to the waiting room I'll help you get all the bits out of the box."

Peter growled, hearing the remark, but he didn't want Lukas to know it had been said at all, so he fought back his anger. Lukas nodded, smiling at Daniel. "And maybe she can help fix Unca Tony's ouchie." He said, and Peter reached down and lifted him, settling Lukas on his hip.

He really missed seeing the kid. It was heaven out at Daniel's, getting to see him every day, but he also wanted to be able to see his family. Lukas was his cousin, and he didn't want to miss the kid growing up. He seemed to get bigger every time he saw the kid.

Lukas clutched the box, "Thank you, Daniel." He stumbled over the words, but they came out.

Lukas was busy looking at his Barbie, not paying much attention to anything around them. Once they'd made it back upstairs, he was eager to play with it. He squirmed to get down, so he could show Thor and Steve. Peter set the bag with the bear off to the side. Bruce was once again not there, and he wondered what was up with that.

"He went to blow off some steam." Morgan told him, she was playing cards with Steve. Peter tugged Daniel to a seat with him, pulling his fiance onto his lap.

	Daniel got himself comfortable on Peter's lap, before calling Lukas over so he could help him get the Barbie out of the box, freeing her from all the plastic tabs and elastic bands holding her in place. He handed the doll to Lukas, and then set about freeing all the accessories. "There you go, Bud. Now you and Doctor Barbie can heal everyone." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Lukas grinned. "Barbie!" He exclaimed, as he picked up her doctor bag and hung it on her arm. Peter pressed his lips to Daniel's cheek. Whispering in his ear, he leaned his head on Daniel's. "You're getting all of the points." He could see himself and Daniel having a kid like Lukas.

The little boy in question had gone to Thor, and he and Barbie were fixing Thor's pretend ouchies. Jessa was sitting near them with a fat book in her lap, and a highlighter. Peter wished they didn't all have to be here together at the hospital, but it was nice to be together.

Darcy rejoined them then, and Lukas ran to her. "Darcy, look, Barbie!" He exclaimed, and she gave him a nod. "Yes, she's a doctor." She said, brushing long black hair out of her eyes.

It warmed Daniel's heart to see Lukas so happy to have his doll. He really hoped if he and Peter eventually had kids that they'd be like Lukas. He was such a great kid. So full of love and happiness that it might just burst out of his little body.

He rested his head on Peter's shoulder. There was still hours to go before Tony was out of surgery. God, he hated hospitals.

"Um, I have some news." Darcy said, reaching to lift up Lukas when he held his arms out. She bounced him on her hip. When everyone looked at her, she let out a breath. "I'm going to have a baby."

Peter looked at her, confused. Darcy was gay, how had this happened? Peter couldn't say anything though, he was still kind of in shock. Thor was the one who moved first. He hugged her. "That is amazing, Darce. I hope you're happy about it."

"Baby!" Lukas exclaimed, grinning.
