Minor Injury Meme

A meme for those minor injuries that won't leave you down but make it hard to live your life. The breaks, sprains, and the hurt/comfort that comes with them.

INJURIES

1. SPRAIN: you stepped the wrong way, twisted the wrong way, and something has gone terribly wrong. Just remember RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

2. FRACTURE: You step off the sidewalk, working in the backyard, and suddenly BAM!! But it's not a sprain, oh no, you're in a cast for the duration. Good luck trying to get to work.

3. PULLED: It's not bad enough for medical attention but it still hurts something fierce. Break out the tiger balm or someone to give you a hand because you've pulled something. That awkward moment when you think you want vicodin...and nobody will give it to you.

4. MIGRAINE: Light hurts, air hurts, moving hurts. All you can do is lie in a darkened room and pray for the pounding pain to go away behind your eyes.

5. THE FLU: Maybe you're physically fine – well… all your limbs are working. You just feel like death warmed over.

6. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

SCENARIOS

1. INJURED! WHAT NEXT?: You're out working, you're out having fun, you're out doing something when suddenly you step, twist, move and our bodies demonstrate just how fragile they really are. Quick! someone call the ambulance!

2. THE EMERGENCY ROOM: All the fun of a waiting room with rewards that include crutches, casts, X-Rays, vicodin, and sometimes just that one nurse who says "Yeah there's nothing wrong with you that'll be 400 dollars."

3. HOME AND SETTING UP THE NEST: Hurt, trying to make a space for you to get around. Hopefully someone is there to help you get to your crutches so you can go to the bathroom and make yourself something to eat.

4. PHYSICAL THERAPY HOME EDITION: The obligatory smut option. Do you not see that I'm wearing this cast?

5. OH GOD HELP I'M GOING TO DIE: That awkward moment when the fact that you are bedridden is crushing down on you and you're terrified you'll do something to make the injury worse. Snappish, angry, and rude - who are you going to take it out on?

6. DRIVE ME TO THE DOCTOR THIS SHIT IS COMING OFF: It's time, they say you can come in, take it off, and begin the next stage of recovery. Failing that, you’re going to grab a saw and cut the damn thing off yourself! Will there be joy, laughter, crying, happiness?

7. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

Daniel wasn't quite as good at holding back his laugh. But it was a warm laugh, not cruel at all. It just warmed his heart to see Lukas so happy. And who didn't love Blue?

He pulled out his wallet and handed over the bear and the Barbie so that he could pay for them. He handed the Barbie box to Lukas to carry, ignoring the remark from someone behind them that Barbies were a girl toy, not a boy toy. "Come on, Lukas, once we get back to the waiting room I'll help you get all the bits out of the box."

Peter growled, hearing the remark, but he didn't want Lukas to know it had been said at all, so he fought back his anger. Lukas nodded, smiling at Daniel. "And maybe she can help fix Unca Tony's ouchie." He said, and Peter reached down and lifted him, settling Lukas on his hip.

He really missed seeing the kid. It was heaven out at Daniel's, getting to see him every day, but he also wanted to be able to see his family. Lukas was his cousin, and he didn't want to miss the kid growing up. He seemed to get bigger every time he saw the kid.

Lukas clutched the box, "Thank you, Daniel." He stumbled over the words, but they came out.

	"I bet she can totally fix Tony's ouchie right up," Daniel agreed, smiling softly at Lukas. He really was the most adorable kid. Daniel reached over to ruffle Lukas' hair lightly. Lukas was busy looking at his Barbie, not paying much attention to anything around them. Once they'd made it back upstairs, he was eager to play with it. He squirmed to get down, so he could show Thor and Steve. Peter set the bag with the bear off to the side. Bruce was once again not there, and he wondered what was up with that.

"He went to blow off some steam." Morgan told him, she was playing cards with Steve. Peter tugged Daniel to a seat with him, pulling his fiance onto his lap.

	Daniel got himself comfortable on Peter's lap, before calling Lukas over so he could help him get the Barbie out of the box, freeing her from all the plastic tabs and elastic bands holding her in place. He handed the doll to Lukas, and then set about freeing all the accessories. "There you go, Bud. Now you and Doctor Barbie can heal everyone." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Lukas grinned. "Barbie!" He exclaimed, as he picked up her doctor bag and hung it on her arm. Peter pressed his lips to Daniel's cheek. Whispering in his ear, he leaned his head on Daniel's. "You're getting all of the points." He could see himself and Daniel having a kid like Lukas.

The little boy in question had gone to Thor, and he and Barbie were fixing Thor's pretend ouchies. Jessa was sitting near them with a fat book in her lap, and a highlighter. Peter wished they didn't all have to be here together at the hospital, but it was nice to be together.

Darcy rejoined them then, and Lukas ran to her. "Darcy, look, Barbie!" He exclaimed, and she gave him a nod. "Yes, she's a doctor." She said, brushing long black hair out of her eyes.

It warmed Daniel's heart to see Lukas so happy to have his doll. He really hoped if he and Peter eventually had kids that they'd be like Lukas. He was such a great kid. So full of love and happiness that it might just burst out of his little body.

He rested his head on Peter's shoulder. There was still hours to go before Tony was out of surgery. God, he hated hospitals.

"Um, I have some news." Darcy said, reaching to lift up Lukas when he held his arms out. She bounced him on her hip. When everyone looked at her, she let out a breath. "I'm going to have a baby."

Peter looked at her, confused. Darcy was gay, how had this happened? Peter couldn't say anything though, he was still kind of in shock. Thor was the one who moved first. He hugged her. "That is amazing, Darce. I hope you're happy about it."

"Baby!" Lukas exclaimed, grinning.

Oh wow. That was kind of huge. Seemed like it was a day for dropping major life-changing announcements on the family. First Peter's engagement, now Darcy's pregnancy. Part of Daniel wondered whether whoever impregnated Darcy would be at risk of being Hulkslammed through a wall. He felt like he was constantly at risk of being smashed to teeny tiny little LaRusso pieces.

"Wow, Darcy that's... awesome? I mean, it's good news, right?"

"It's... It's unexpected." Darcy said, black hair falling over her shoulder. She looked at Lukas. "Yup, kiddo, a baby." She told him, giving him a smile. Darcy was too close to Thor's age to call him 'Uncle', but she did consider him family. Lukas, too. He was a great kid. "You can help with the baby, kiddo. I am sure it will love having a cousin to play with."

Peter looked at her, wondering if he should be asking the tough questions. She seemed to be in shock herself. Peter also wondered if she would tell him if he asked. "You don't have to talk about it, Darce." He told her, and held her gaze. As the two oldest Stark children, sometimes they had a second language from their other siblings.

She nodded at him, and Lukas reached for Thor, he wanted to sit on his father's shoulders.

	Daniel looked between Peter and Darcy. He got the feeling that there was more to the situation than what was being said. He frowned a little before settling his head on Peter's shoulder, nuzzling against his neck. It was still so long until Tony's surgery would be done and Daniel felt very out of place. Peter's eyes started to close, and he drifted off to sleep, clutching onto Daniel tightly. He dreamed, and none of it was good.

Hours later, a doctor came to give them the news. Bruce was back by then, and he touched Peter's shoulder lightly. "Wake up, kid, it's time to get the news." He told him, and Peter jerked awake, looking as if he'd had a nightmare. He nodded, wiping his eyes.

"Mr. Stark-Banner, the surgery went well, we're just waiting on making sure his body doesn't reject the heart. Other than recovering, he's gonna need a day or two while we monitor that. You can visit, but I'd suggest one at a time." Bruce's eyes brushed with tears, but he nodded, and went with the doctor.

Daniel looked at Peter with concern, his hand instantly settling on his back to rub small, slow circles. He listened to the news. The surgery went well. That was good. That was something positive they could cling to. Tony wasn't out of the woods yet, but he was well on his way.

He watched Bruce leave with the doctor and turned his attention to Peter. "Hey, you okay, Petey? Wanna talk about it?"

That was a hard question. Peter didn't know that he wanted to. He brushed his hand across his face, and wiped his eyes again. Peter looked into Daniel's brown Bambi eyes, and stroked the back of Daniel's hand with his thumb. His arm snaked around Daniel's waist, and he buried his head in Daniel's neck.

Taking a deep sniff, Peter said, "I was just scared that Dad wouldn't make it." He mumbled, and it was mostly true. But he'd also been having flashbacks to a time before he'd met Daniel. And his attack. It didn't help that Dutch had tried to attack them that day. That had to be it.

Daniel peppered tiny kisses to the top of Peter's head, holding him close as he continued to stroke his back.

"I told you. Mr Stark is far too badass to die on the operating table. Besides, he knows he's got all these people out here who love him and are waiting for him to get better."

He leaned back enough to hook his fingers under Peter's chin, tilting his head up to press a soft kiss to his lips. "It's gonna be okay."

Peter kissed him back, still shivering with fear. "What if he rejects the heart? He could die. I saw it on Grey's Anatomy. Denny got the new heart but he died anyway." Peter said reverently, he loved Denny.

He was shaking from head to toe, and he buried his head in Daniel's shoulder. He was scared and it wasn't going to get any better. Maybe if he got to see Tony. He knew that Bruce deserved to have his time with him though. He didn't want to interfere with that.

	Daniel wrapped his arms tighter around Peter, one hand on his lower back, one cradling the back of his head as he held him close. He breathed slow and deep, hoping it would encourage Peter to do the same, or at the least, hoped the motion of his breathing would calm him. "Positive thoughts, remember? He's Tony Stark. Peter sniffed Daniel, he loved that innate Daniel smell. "I know, I'm trying." He replied, he truly was. He didn't know what to do otherwise, if he thought completely about how that might happen, the heart rejecting, he'd break down into tiny little pieces.

This couldn't be happening, and it was. Peter sniffed again, and tried to breathe deeply, like Daniel suggested. And he knew Mr. Miyagi would suggest, too. He sighed. "It's hard, the positive thinking. I don't know how you do it, babe."

	"I've had a lot of practice," Daniel admitted. He had learned to be the one that smiled brightly even in the darkest times, no matter how worried or afraid he was. Kissing him back, Peter murmured, "I love you, Daniel Anthony LaRusso." Peter sniffled, but he was starting to calm down. Before Peter could say more, Lukas came toddling up to them sleepily. "Hey, buddy." Peter said, reaching down to lift him up, so he could sit on his lap and reach them both.

Lukas looked up at Daniel, a serious look on his sleepy face. "So, Danny, are you gonna marry Petey?" He asked, blinking, trying to keep his eyes opened. Peter started to tell him, but the little boy shook his head, he wanted to hear it from Daniel.

"I love you too," Daniel replied, stroking his face tenderly. He laughed softly at Lukas' question. The kid looked so damn serious, it was absolutely adorable. Daniel really hoped their kid would be half as adorable as Lukas.

He nodded, a smile stretching across his face. "Yeah, Lukas. One day. Petey and I are gonna get married and be together forever. He's my guy."

This seemed to be a satisfactory answer for Lukas, and so he leaned against them both, and his eyes fell shut. Steve came up then, Morgan in his arms, she was asleep. "I'm going to take the girls home. They can see Tony tomorrow. We'll be back. Lukas will never forgive us if he doesn't get to give Tony his present."

Peter smiled a bit. "Yeah, he's excited to give it to him." He said, his hand already on Lukas' tummy. Steve added, "We're grabbing food, too, so text Thor what you want. Easier than telling me now." He said, and Peter nodded. He didn't even have a uterus, and his was aching.

He really wished he was ready for a kid.

He really was the perfect kid. Daniel was sure there was nobody alive that wouldn't instantly fall in love with Lukas. He was the sweetest little boy. Daniel stroked his hair gently, before looking over at Steve. "Don't worry. I'll keep an eye on these two," he said, smiling softly.

He then leaned to press a kiss to Peter's head. He could picture them with a kid of their own one day. Not yet. But one day. He knew without a doubt that Peter would make an excellent dad.

Peter looked at his sleeping cousin, Thor and Steve headed out with Morgan and Jessa, Steve carrying Morgan and Thor letting a barely awske Jessa lean on him. Peter picked up his phone, and texted Thor. "I'm telling Uncle Thor Chinese food." He said, still rubbing Lukas' stomach. He knew that the little boy slept better that way.

"He loves you, you know. You're his favorite." Peter looked into Daniel's eyes then. Darcy had gone off to talk on the phone. He put his phone down, and looked at Daniel. "You ever think about kids?" He asked, not sure if he could take it if it was no.

"Who Lukas? Course I'm his favourite. He's my favourite too. Just... don't tell my cousin Louie that or I'll never hear the end of it." Daniel chuckled softly. Lukas was a great kid. He absolutely loved spending time with him. He was like the little brother he had always wanted but never had.

"Kids? Yeah, I mean... I would love kids one day. Not yet, but one day. At least two of 'em. Oh shit. Do you want kids? Is this one of those things when we find out one of us doesn't want the same as the other for the future?"
