Minor Injury Meme

A meme for those minor injuries that won't leave you down but make it hard to live your life. The breaks, sprains, and the hurt/comfort that comes with them.

INJURIES

1. SPRAIN: you stepped the wrong way, twisted the wrong way, and something has gone terribly wrong. Just remember RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

2. FRACTURE: You step off the sidewalk, working in the backyard, and suddenly BAM!! But it's not a sprain, oh no, you're in a cast for the duration. Good luck trying to get to work.

3. PULLED: It's not bad enough for medical attention but it still hurts something fierce. Break out the tiger balm or someone to give you a hand because you've pulled something. That awkward moment when you think you want vicodin...and nobody will give it to you.

4. MIGRAINE: Light hurts, air hurts, moving hurts. All you can do is lie in a darkened room and pray for the pounding pain to go away behind your eyes.

5. THE FLU: Maybe you're physically fine – well… all your limbs are working. You just feel like death warmed over.

6. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

SCENARIOS

1. INJURED! WHAT NEXT?: You're out working, you're out having fun, you're out doing something when suddenly you step, twist, move and our bodies demonstrate just how fragile they really are. Quick! someone call the ambulance!

2. THE EMERGENCY ROOM: All the fun of a waiting room with rewards that include crutches, casts, X-Rays, vicodin, and sometimes just that one nurse who says "Yeah there's nothing wrong with you that'll be 400 dollars."

3. HOME AND SETTING UP THE NEST: Hurt, trying to make a space for you to get around. Hopefully someone is there to help you get to your crutches so you can go to the bathroom and make yourself something to eat.

4. PHYSICAL THERAPY HOME EDITION: The obligatory smut option. Do you not see that I'm wearing this cast?

5. OH GOD HELP I'M GOING TO DIE: That awkward moment when the fact that you are bedridden is crushing down on you and you're terrified you'll do something to make the injury worse. Snappish, angry, and rude - who are you going to take it out on?

6. DRIVE ME TO THE DOCTOR THIS SHIT IS COMING OFF: It's time, they say you can come in, take it off, and begin the next stage of recovery. Failing that, you’re going to grab a saw and cut the damn thing off yourself! Will there be joy, laughter, crying, happiness?

7. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

Scott looked at him, sipping his milkshake. A doctor came in, to help set Scott's arm. Scott was glad that he'd already been given the pain meds. "He shot at a cop, Daniel. The cop shot back. I didn't have to kill him. But he nearly killed me." Scott said, hissing through his teeth as he had to adjust the way he was sitting.

"My entrance was bleeding. It hurts to sit." Scott told him. The doctor's eyebrows rose, and Scott looked at him. "Yeah. I'm gay. My stupid father raped me, and he used a dildo that was too big and it hurt me. But that's what it's called. My entrance." Scott glared at the doctor, who was turning on the machine that had the plaster for the cast.

	Daniel held onto Scott's hand as he listened to him. His heart ached for Scott. He gave his hand a squeeze, not really sure what to say. There were no words to change what happened or to make it right. He reached to stroke Scott's hair lightly. "Is there anything you can do to help, Doc? Ointment or something?" "We can give him a pillow, and we've already got a script called in for some pain medication, a month's worth. After that, we'll check in and see if he'll need more." The doctor said, as he started to wrap the plaster around Scott's arm. He looked at Scott. "Kiddo, I'm not judging you for being who you are. You are who you are. Nothing you are gives your father the right to hurt you like that."

Scott's chin wobbled, and he apologized for what he'd said. He let out a breath, and squeezed Daniel's hand. He was glad that it was over. Yes, this was awful, and he was probably going to have nightmares for the rest of his life, but it was over. Rafe could never hurt him again.

Tears slipped down his cheeks. "I just, I wish I had taken you with me." He told Daniel, his voice quiet.

Daniel buried his face in Scott's hair, nosing at his scalp as he kept hold of his hand. "I shoulda gone with you. I never shoulda let you go alone. But he can't hurt you again, Scott. Not ever. You're safe and you're loved and as soon as we can we're gonna take you home. With us. Where you belong."

Daniel's voice quivered, tears rolled down his cheeks. He didn't know if he'd ever be able to let Scott out of his sight again.

Scott closed his eyes, leaning into Daniel's touch. "I love you. This isn't your fault, okay? You are not going to blame yourself for this. And I know he can't. I feel violated, but I feel relief too." Scott said, squeezing Daniel's hand tightly. He knew that Daniel and Mr. Miyagi loved him. He knew that Rafw could never hurt him again. He was safe. It was hard to let go of the fear, but he knew that he could.

"Miyagi Papa now." Mr. Miyagi told him. "Miyagi teach Scott-San karate. Scott-San will be able to defend self." He said, he was supervising the application of the cast. He looked at the doctor, who just looked back, Mr. Miyagi had a calming presence.

Scott was sniffling, and he said, "Thanks, Mr. Miyagi. That would be really cool. Oh fuck, baby, did you bring my inhaler? I really need it." Scott asked, his breath hitching.

"It's not your fault either," Daniel muttered into Scott's hair, making no attempt to move even if it wasn't the comfiest position. He was close to Scott and not hurting him. That was good enough for him.

At Scott's question, he eventually pulled back enough to shove his hand into his jean pocket and pulled out Scott's inhaler. "You know you should never go anywhere without it!"

"Thanks, Daniel. I'm sorry I forgot it." Scott said, holding up his uninjured hand in surrender. He didn't want to argue with Daniel anymore than he should. Scott sighed as the doctor finished putting the cast on his arm.

"It's going to only take about a half an hour for the cast to harden. Until then, don't move it more than you have to." He said. "We're keeping you overnight for observation, so I'll send someone in for checking your vitals in soon."

He looked as if he was going to tell them when visiting hours ended, but he didn't, just left the room.

	Daniel watched the doctor leave, before shifting a little closer to Scott. If they weren't going to kick him out, then he wasn't going to leave any time soon. Daniel continued to toy with Scott's dark locks. He loved to bury his fingers in his hair, caress his scalp, play with his hair. Scott looked pretty hot right now, Daniel couldn't help but lean in and press a quick kiss to his lips.

"If you can keep your arm still and stay quiet I could always give you a blowj--" He cut himself off then, remembering exactly why Scott was in the hospital to begin with and he felt pretty awful. "Sorry... that was a really dumb thing to suggest."

Scott kissed him again. "It's okay, baby. You didn't mean to be insensitive. And by the way, I didn't think it was." His eyes slid shut, the pain meds were pretty strong. He also liked Daniel's fingers in his hair.

"You're gonna put me to sleep." He mumbled sleepily, nuzzling into Daniel. He clutched into him tightly with his uninjured hand. "I love you, Daniel." He told him, before his breathing evened out, and he was asleep.

Scott slept all the way till the morning, and when he did wake up, he was in pain. He hit the button for the nurses, and groaned, trying to keep quiet so he didn't wake up Daniel. He stayed cuddled up to him though, surprised that no one had actually told Daniel to leave.

He also wondered why he was still here, had they wanted to keep him overnight? As he was pondering this, Mr. Miyagi came in, carrying a bag of takeout from McDonalds. "Oh Mr. M, this is when I love you the most." Scott said softly, and nudged Daniel, he'd want to know there was breakfast.

	Daniel let out a whine as he was nudged, burying his face into Scott more. "Five more minutes, Ma," he muttered, determined not to open his eyes. He had a crick in his neck and back from sleeping awkwardly. Hospital beds really weren't designed to sleep two. He eventually managed to force his eyes open, blinking blearily at Scott. "Hi." Scott was biting into a egg, bacon, and cheese croissant, and he was grimacing from the pain, but he managed to great his boyfriend. "Hey." He said, and leaned out, giving him a soft peck on the lips.

"Sandwiches, and a hashbrown. And juice. Mr. Miyagi's awesome." He said, giving the kindly old man a smile, who smiled back. "Miyagi good papa." He agreed, and bowed to Daniel. "Morning, Daniel-San." He handed Daniel two Aspirin. "For back and neck." He told him, he had spent his fair share of time sleeping in hospital beds overnight.

	Daniel shifted to sit up, bowing his head to Mr Miyagi as he accepted the aspirin. "Thank you, Mr Miyagi. And thank you for breakfast." "In a lot of pain, I hit the button for the nurses, so they can give me another iv." Scott said, his eyes automatically slipping shut as Daniel's fingers went into his hair. He loved it, and he leaned out to kiss Daniel, softly and soundly.

Mr. Miyagi said, "Miyagi put in papers to adopt Scott-San. Scott-San deserve good papa." He had some rice for himself, and settled into a chair next to the bed, using his chopsticks to dig into his rice.

Scott looked at him, his eyes widening. "Really?! That's... That's so cool, Mr. Miyagi!" He said, grimacing as a wave of pain hit him.

	Daniel kept his fingers in Scott's hair, stroking and petting softly. He loved the effect it had on Scott. He couldn't help but smile. He leaned in to kiss Scott back just as soft. Mr. Miyagi waved his hand. "Sometime Daniel-San smartaleck." He said, and Scott laughed a little, as the nurse came in. "I've got your new IV, Scott." She told him, moving to change his IV bag, and Scott let out a sigh of relief as the morphine hit his system.

"Scott, we're holding you for another day. We did an X-ray when you first got here, and there's some internal bleeding we need to take care of." Scott's brown eyes widened, and his hand reached out and took Daniel's, squeezing hard.

	Daniel's heart sank when the nurse said Scott had internal bleeding. That wasn't good, was it? Internal bleeding was like a really serious thing. He clung to Scott's hand a little too tightly. "Yes, there's no other way to stop it. When his father was..." She stopped for a moment, and Scott's brown eyes had rushed with tears, and his good hand was clutching Daniel's, just as tightly as Daniel was holding his. "When you were attacked, too much time was spent on your midsection. We've got to take care of it. Someone will be in shortly to prep you."

Scott's breath was short, as the nurse asked Mr. Miyagi to come with her and sign some forms. He agreed, and squeezed both boys' shoulders in reassurance as he went with the nurse. Scott tried to breathe, he felt a panic attack coming on.

This was supposed to be over. His arm was fucking broken. He couldn't sit without a pillow underneath him. Wasn't that enough?! "Daniel..." Scott gasped, tears slipping off his chin.

Daniel clung to Scott's hand. He couldn't believe this was happening. It wasn't fair. Scott didn't deserve this. He had suffered enough. He shifted to face Scott, taking his face in both his hands, wiping his thumbs across his cheeks to wipe away his tears. "It's okay Scotty. It's gonna be okay."

He tried to sound a lot more confident than he felt. He had to be the strong one. "It's gonna be okay, baby. I promise. They're gonna fix you right up then we can go home and cuddle up and binge watch bad tv and eat chips."

Scott wished he could believe that. But he also knew that Daniel needed to believe that, so he did his best to go along with it. He leaned out and kissed Daniel, like he never would again, sucking on his boyfriend's tongue. "I love you, Daniel LaRusso, more than I've ever loved anyone in this world."

He knew it sounded like a goodbye, but he couldn't help it. The surgery was serious, people died from internal bleeding all the time. He was crying so hard he hiccuped. A new nurse came in, bringing with her a tray of alcohol swabs, and what looked to be a shot.

"Okay, boys. Scott, it's time. I have to swab down the incision area, and I'm giving you a sedative, it should put you right to sleep."

The nurse had Scott all prepped in a minute or two, and told Daniel that it would be a few hours, so he should maybe get some sleep or some homework done, keep his mind off of it. Mr. Miyagi came back as they were wheeling Scott out. He made them stop, so he could say something to Scott.

He was already out, but to Mr. Miyagi it didn't matter. He'd chosen to take Scott as his own, he was going to make sure he reassured him. "Scott-San be safe. Doctor fix. Papa and Daniel-San wait for him." He whispered in Scott's ear, and then he bowed to him,

Then they whisked him out the door, and Mr. Miyagi moved to Daniel. "Daniel-San worry?" He asked, he sipped from a large cup of chai tea from Starbucks, holding out a fancy mocha fraooe thing for Daniel. He felt that was all just sugar, but it would give him energy.
