I'd like to turn to a type of song that people like myself find ourselves subjected to with increasing frequency as time goes on, and that is the college alma mater. You'll find yourself at a reunion of grads, and old undergrads, and eh... somebody will start croaking out one of these things and everyone will gradually join in -- each in his own key, of course -- until the place is just soggy with nostalgia. Well, a typical such song might be called Bright College Days, and might go like this. Bright college days, O carefree days that fly, To thee we sing with our glasses raised on high. Let's drink a toast as each of us recalls Ivy-covered professors in ivy-covered halls. Turn on the spigot, pour the beer and swig it, and gaudeamus igit-ur. Here's to parties we tossed, To the games that we lost, We shall claim that we won them some day. To the girls young and sweet, To the spacious back seat of our beat up Chevrolet.

[ mood | horny ]

Went shooting with Arron today. My arms hurt so good, and I feel more alive than I have in fucking days. Anyway, I had picked up some zombie targets couldn't wait to use them, plus I got a Ruger LC9 Deluxe Silver Limited Talo and wanted to break her in. She's so amazing, even Arron was jealous of how well she shoots.

And speaking of shooting - these were from the Ruger, these were from my Makarov, and these were from my .22 (the smaller holes) and my .45 (the larger ones). I'd show you pictures of Arron's targets, but mine were much better. Seriously, I'm shocked they let him handle a gun.

One day, I'll get Fergus to let me handle his Mossberg... and no, that's not me being pervy. That shotgun is fucking gorgeous. I'll be going to the range again tomorrow afternoon if anyone wants to come with.

[ music | The Dickies - Banana Splits ]

Today is shaping up to be an awesome day. Not only did my friend Nick send me a little video of me goofing off on the beach last Summer, but I woke up with the 'Banana Splits' song stuck in my head so I just know I'm going to be hyper all day long.

I'm pumped, and in a great mood. Plus, it's gorgeous out. What could possibly bring me down today? Wait... don't answer that.

I saw The Hunger Games movie over the weekend. It was pretty entertaining, I guess. Everyone was like "no, no, seriously, you have to read these books", but I'll pass on the first person narrative, thanks. Lenny Kravitz's character was gorgeous. Cinna? Sinna? Whatever. Was there something going on between him and Katniss in the books? I know she was supposed to be like 16, but they had almost too much chemistry.

Apparently someone backed into my car while I was inside. They left a decent dent and some paint scratches. Luckily my tail lights aren't busted. The asshole didn't even leave their name and number on a scrap of paper. Hopefully it can be hammered out or something.

Bored and finally ahead of my studies, I took a moment to browse the internet and catch up on the latest news. I, of course, started with anything from home, and stemmed back to the U.S.A., where I happened across this.

Well. Thank you America for enabling my addiction.

Who's up for a baking day? Might as well enjoy this discovery until they discover they were wrong. (Which I am sure is to happen, nothing this good could ever be true.)

[ mood | chipper ]

Over the course of my years of teaching, I have stolen (or taken home and never bothered to return) three books.

-The Trial, by Franz Kafka

-Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse

-The Elements of Style, by William Strunk.

Occasionally, I get very attached to books, and well, I couldn't bear to part with these particular three, for various reasons. This little confession of mine, however, prompts a question in my mind that I think would do well to be shared with the lovely students and faculty.

What books are you attached to? Is there any particular piece of literature that you would...say, bring with you if you were stranded somewhere? I could personally read anything by Kafka forever. Even his journals are interesting.

How's school going, kiddo?

I've been happy? content? at ease? good. It's...different. Slightly disturbing. But not altogether bad. Maybe. So, I'll continue the art trend. Have some animation shorts. (Don't worry. Your Bible is safe.)

The Backwater Gospel
The Little Girl Who Was Forgotten
The End
Red

My personal favorite: El Despertar Reminds me of...me.
