They were finally home. (Funny how this place was already starting to feel like home... even though they were in a different world from her true home.) It felt like ages and ages that they'd been on that ship, even though it hadn't really been that long. They'd been eating freeze-dried and canned foods for most of the trip, and the first thing Kate wanted when they arrived home was something fresh. Fruit, vegetables, cheese, whatever.

So after all of the hubbub, the ship arriving home, the zombies(??) and arrivals home from the Barbie world (Kate wasn't lying when she said she was jealous. She'd make an amazing Barbie), the birthday party, the dinner, the whatever... Kate headed to the kitchen to dig herself out a snack. Or two. Or three.

There were crisp, green grapes and strawberries, baby carrots and celery, and cubes of cheddar cheese. She put together a plate with the goodies and stood for a moment, debating where to go to eat her snack.

"Is it a kid show?" Scott struggled to reconcile what little he knew about the Hawkeye here with the Hawkeye that Kate knew.

"Uh... not really? It's like a cop drama. But with dogs." Kate snorted. "My favorite character is Sergeant Whiskers. He's ridiculous." Beat. "I guess it's kinda like a tellanovella.

"Dogs. They're actual dogs. Listen, it's the weirdest show ever. I don't know what Clint likes about it."

"Yeah. Remember that movie Homeward Bound? Where Sally Field and Michael J. Fox dubbed lines of dialqogue over a real cat and dog? It's kinda like that. Only a little more modern. A little."

"What year are you from exactly?" Scott couldn't help but wonder if she was born earlier than he expected. He wasn't even sure his Cassie had seen Homeward Bound.

"Uh... yeah." Kate gulped from the bottle again, then lowered it so she could pick at the label. "My dad was uh... Well, he made a lot of money. In not really good ways."

"Not in your sort of ways, no," Kate said darkly. She shook her head and lifted the bottle to gulp from it again. This line of conversation and she'd need another beer.

"Anyway, he's not in this world. I don't think."

"No," Kate answered after only a moment's hesitation. "That part of my life is behind me. I've moved on." She gave him a smile.

"To better things." She held out her bottle to clink against his.

Kate gulped again, thinking about it. There was a lot of stuff here that was pretty great. Then again, she missed her friends back at home a lot.

She shook her head. "I'm happy here for now. There's no Thanos there, but I'm ... I dunno. I feel like I'm making a difference here."

"It's crazy," Scott says, taking a swig of his drink. "When everything that happened happened, I was in the Quantum Realm. If I hadn't wound up here, I don't know what would have happened to me."

Something twisted in Kate's gut. It surprised her, the feeling that she was... relieved? So thankful that he'd been saved--spared from The Snap. Her heart thumped a little harder than before.

"I'm glad you're here and not there." She tried to cover her feelings with a tease. "Who would drink beers with me after a successful jaunt into space?"

Kate blushed. "Seems all it takes to become popular is to fall through a portal."

She reached for another strawberry from the tray. "What about you? I take it you're not desperate to go home to your world because of the Snap."

Kate nodded, then gave him a smirk. "What a coincidence: I'd rather have you helping here than trapped in the Quantum Realm, too."

She leaned back, feeling a little warmth spread through her from the beer. "It must be nice. What you and Cassie have."

"I was never really close with my father," Scott admitted. "Nothing like your dad, he just didn't make time for me. So when Maggie was pregnant, I thought that I'd be there for her the way my dad wasn't for me." A beat. "Didn't really do a good job of that and got myself arrested, though. But I'm making up for lost time now."

If only Kate's father was half the man that Scott Lang was. She probably would have turned out very differently.

Kate nodded. "You're a man of honor." She downed the last of her beer and set the bottle aside. "Like Robin Hood. Any girl would be thrilled to have Robin Hood as her dad."
