They were finally home. (Funny how this place was already starting to feel like home... even though they were in a different world from her true home.) It felt like ages and ages that they'd been on that ship, even though it hadn't really been that long. They'd been eating freeze-dried and canned foods for most of the trip, and the first thing Kate wanted when they arrived home was something fresh. Fruit, vegetables, cheese, whatever.

So after all of the hubbub, the ship arriving home, the zombies(??) and arrivals home from the Barbie world (Kate wasn't lying when she said she was jealous. She'd make an amazing Barbie), the birthday party, the dinner, the whatever... Kate headed to the kitchen to dig herself out a snack. Or two. Or three.

There were crisp, green grapes and strawberries, baby carrots and celery, and cubes of cheddar cheese. She put together a plate with the goodies and stood for a moment, debating where to go to eat her snack.

	"Having a midnight snack?" Scott stepped past the doorway, flashing her a brief smile before he made a beeline for the fridge. "Me too," he said. "I'm starved." He opened the fridge, peering inside. "I really didn't think I'd ever eat worse traveling food than on a plane. At least on a cruise ship, you have buffets you can pick the best from." (Reply to this) (Thread)

Kate turned at the sound of the voice and broke into a bright grin. Scott was very different full-sized than he'd been when he was only two inches tall. They'd gotten along really well on the K. Bacon, so she fully expected them to get along just as well now they were back on Earth. And she couldn't wait to meet and hang out with his version of Cassie, even though she was quite a bit younger.

"Right?" Her nose crinkled up as she grinned. "I don't think I'm ever going to look at a granola bar the same way again. Well, not that I was ever big on granola bars, but... I never thought I'd miss fresh fruit so much."

She took a beat. "Do you... want to share?"

	Scott popped his head out from inside the fridge. "Oh, yeah. Thanks!" The platter that Kate had looked a lot more appetizing than the ham-and-cheese sandwich he'd been considering. 	"Yup." Kate beamed at him. "Thanks." She headed into the lounge and set the platter down on the coffee table, then curled on the sofa, tucking her knees under her. When Scott returned to the lounge, he had two beers in hand and a roll of paper towels under one arm. He offered Kate one of the beers and when she took it, set his down so he could take the paper towels in hand. He wagged it at her, then set it down next to his beer. "Just in case," he said. "Saved me more than once."

Scott settled down next to her and grabbed a square of cheese to pop in his mouth. "You okay?"

Kate perked up just a little when he came back in, though there was still an air of sadness settled around her shoulders. She accepted the beer with a gentle, "thanks," then grinned as he set down the paper towels. It was such a dad thing to do. Clint would have just used his shirt to wipe things up.

"Yeah." She gulped from the bottle, then set her phone aside. (Tossed, really, onto the table. Maybe not as gently as she should have.)

"Just..." Looking at him, Kate decided not to talk about sad things. She broke into a smile. "Nevermind. How's it feel to be back on Earth?"

	"Way better than being in space. And not because I was way smaller." That definitely was definitely one of Scott's least favorite parts of it. He had been small for prolonged periods of time before, but never that long. Not even in the Quantum Realm (he thinks). "What about you? Have any fun plans now that we're back?" Kate smirked softly. "Have I mentioned how weird it was that you were two inches tall? Pretty much the entire time I've known you, you've been pocket sized. Well, except now. It's a nice change." Her smile went from a smirk to something a bit more fond.

She nodded. "What, besides letting you take me out to dinner? I plan on eating fresh fruits and vegetables for the rest of my life." A little laugh. "Is that a good plan?"

"Doesn't count," Scott confirmed. He couldn't really tell if Kate was being serious, but he was serious about taking her out for dinner as thanks. And pizza wasn't exactly the kind of dinner Scott gave someone as thanks -- at least not outside of when Scott had some of his buddies helped him to move just after college.

"You give any thought to where you want to go?" he asked, taking another cheese from the platter.

"Okay, good. Then I'd love to have pizza with you and Cassie." She was really looking forward to meeting Cassie from another world. Though, there was a tinge of guilt that she hadn't told Scott about her Cassie, and a touch of sadness about the whole thing. That wound had never truly healed.

"Somewhere fancy?" She asked, half-teasing. She didn't have anything to wear to a fancy restaurant. "Honestly, I'm happy with whatever." Easy to please, this one.

	Kate mirrored his swig with one of her own, then reached for some of the fruit on the plate. It was amazing to be back in the land of fresh fruits and vegetables. "She sounds amazing.
