Brother and Sister Have a Summer Log
WHO: Malcolm and Madison Chang
WHERE: Their House
WHEN: August 26, 2020; mid-afternoon
STATUS: Incomplete
SUMMARY: It is that time of year for Hogwarts students to get ready for school. The Changs are no exception.
It was a late-afternoon on a rather hot and sticky summer day in the British Isles. It was the kind of weather that made Malcolm Chang feel sort of sleepy. Come to think of it, most weather made Malcolm sleepy. This probably had to do with the fact that he was a night owl and stayed up late reading or writing. But there was something about a pool of sun that made him want to curl up and go to sleep. Perhaps he was half cat. It was five days until the beginning of his fourth year at Hogwarts and he should have been getting ready. His mother told him and his sister that they should be packed by the end of the day, by the time she would get home which was seven pm on some nights. But the Ravenclaw liked to procrastinate. Well, maybe not like, but it was more like he liked to do something more so did so.
Malcolm's room was in a disarray. He had his clean clothes to be packed away into his trunk stacked in one corner of his room. His Ravenclaw colored uniform hanging up on the door to his closet. He had loads of books scattered around his room. He did have bookshelves that were filled to the brim so he had to resort to stacks. This was always the most difficult part for the younger Chang. Which books should he take with him to Hogwarts? And while he figured this out, he usually got distracted by reading said books. The organization of his books started at about noon after lunch, Malcolm's breakfast. He had found the Once and Future King, a book he thought he lost. It got him so excited that he began to read it to which he promptly fell asleep right on top of the book on his bed, in a pool of sunlight. His growing to be long legs stuck out awkwardly over the edges of his bed and his left arm dangled over to the side as well. It won't be long before he couldn't enjoy these late afternoon naps.
A small nap won't hurt. He could pack fast if need to. Of course, his sense of time was horrible. Maybe his sister could get him motivated.
