Day Four
Who: Ace & Rose.
When: Afternoon
What: The companions meet.
Where: the TARDIS
Rating: G
Status: Complete

Ace sat at the edges of the resort, crouching down to let the desert sand run through her fingers as she gazed out into the distance. It seemed that there was nothing outside the ranch area, just miles of sand as far as she could see. She supposed that there still might be more, and she'd survived deserts before, but there was still plenty here to explore before venturing out that way. So the brunette rose and swung a leg over her bike, the motorcycle quickly revving to life, and shooting back off back the other way.

It was her second day here, but the previous afternoon had been a waste -- forced onto some rafting trip by 'The Planet.' It had been enjoyable enough, she'd met a few characters, but really got little in the way of answers except that everyone seemed to be brought here against their will from different times and places. After which she'd been more then keen on getting home, but not only could her bike not travel between planets, but being dragged here out of the vortex had fried a bunch of her circuits.

So this morning she'd rose at dawn (old habits), grabbed a quick breakfast, and set off to take stock of her surroundings. Equipped with her rucksack of toys and other such items always on her person, she'd rode north of the resort until hitting the desert.

She'd been at this for some time, and was nearly done covering the grounds until something caught her eye. A big, blue, wooden something. A wide grin pulled at her features, and she kicked the speed up a notch until she was parked right next to phone box. A hand rose quickly, gripping the small key hanging round her neck as she moved to the doors, pushing it into the lock and letting the doors swing open.

Ace stepped inside, her brows furrowing at the sight of the place. "He's changed the theme." She grumbled disapprovingly before continuing forward. "Hello old girl." Ace greeted, running a hand lightly over the console. Sitting down, she pulled the screen towards her, wondering how long it had been for the Doctor since they'd last met. It had been little more then a year for her, or at least, that's what she figured. It was hard to keep track when traveling through time.

"The professor has been busy hasn't he?" She would find him later. While she was here she might as well fix her bike, maybe give it a bit of a boost. A few keystrokes, pulling a few cords from beneath a floor panel outside to fasten to the motorcycle, and then returning to start the diagnostic. While the TARDIS found out the extent of the trouble and fixed what it could, she set down her pack and decided to have a look around.

"Oh yeah? I spent a while in France, got a nice flat there. Was just leaving when I was pulled here.. I might've heard of something a bit more recent for you, but time travel kind of screws things up." She shrugged slightly.

"Good to hear he's okay, I was a little worried when Chris left him -- Needs someone to watch his back, you know?"

"Chris?" Rose couldn't help but ask, almost wincing as it slipped out. "Yeah, it seems like he's always getting into trouble of some sort. And there's only so much you can do." She grinned a bit, there. "So how did you find yourself here?"

"Another of our lot. I didn't meet him for very long. He decided not to leave Gallifrey with the rest of us." She replied casually. She didn't like the idea of the Professor traveling alone, so she was pleased with Rose, and the blond seemed a good companion. She understood about looking out for the Time Lord, at least. "Ripped out of the time vortex by the planet on my way to twentieth century London -- that's what fried so many of my circuits. Then I was sent right off to some rafting thing with a few others. Only got around to exploring the planet this morning."

Rose nodded, trying to keep this all straight. The names, though, only served as another stark reminder as to how she was only one in a line of companions, but she shook off those thoughts. She had known that, but even still- it didn't mean that she liked the reminder any better.

"I- so when are you from, originally? Er- and where?" She couldn't help but be curious. "It's...well, it seems nice, for a place that won't let us leave. There are worse places to be stuck, I guess, but...I don't know. We'd both rather leave if we could."

"Originally...Was born in 1970s Perivale, but a time storm sent me off to Ice World when I was fifteen. Met the doctor there a year later. You?" She replied, thinking how long it had been since she'd gone back to her home town.

"I suppose. Same here though, I'd like to leave sooner rather then later. It's not much of an adventure here."

"Born in 1980s London, met the Doctor at 18. He helped me out, and then invited me to travel with him. We've been together for...Two years? Or so?" She lifted a shoulder in a shrug. With all of the movement through space and time, it got a bit confusing.

"No. But it is a nice little break. I don't think it's somewhere I'd like to stay for too long."

"I get that. Hard to keep track of time with him." She made a face at the burnt bit of metal and circuits, shaking her hand as it had shocked her. Feh, she'd play with it later. They had plenty of time apparently.

"Not to into leisure planets myself. After traveling with the Doctor and bein' in the Space Fleet -- I don't like staying in one place too long if there's nothing to do. I'd rather be back fighting Daleks, much more exciting -- Oh, have you run into them yet?"

"Daleks? Oh yeah. They nearly killed us at one point, but we got away. Barely." She hoped that she never ran into any ever again.

"Would you like some help with anything?" Rose wasn't entirely sure why she offered, but she figured she might as well try to make herself useful, even if she wasn't sure just what the other woman was doing.

"Pain in the ass, those things. Fought 'em for years, and got a few tricks. Enough Nitro9 will blow up the weaker basic soldiers. They've left me with a few scars though." She grinned though at the thought. She'd learned a lot during the Dalek Wars, never had so much fun making better weapons, perfecting her nitro9...She still considered going back to the Space Fleet; lord knows they would have her, they still used weapons she'd made.

"Nah. I'll fool with it later. I want to check out my room. See if my hi-fi is still in it, and my old box of explosives.." Ace rose and stepped out into the hall, looking in either direction. She strode off and eventually caught sight of a door with a small wooden mask nailed over the door knob. "There we go..." The brunette pushed open the door, her room was exactly the same, even the same white walls and floor of the old TARDIS theme. Home..

"Yeah. We haven't really tried to blow them up." Well. Rose had basically turned them into dust, but she didn't really like to talk about that day very much. It still hurt to think about sometimes.

Rose followed Ace as she made her way back to her old room. Why hadn't she noticed this door before? Strange. Hrm. Rose leaned against the door frame as she watched Ace, then bit her lower lip. "Well, hey- I...think I'll leave you to this. I'm probably only just getting in your way."

"I'll blow up just about anything." She said casually, spotting her old box of explosives under the bed. Compared to the toys at her disposal now, they might as well be a box of sparklers.

Ace glanced back as Rose spoke again and nodded slightly. Not that she was getting in the way, but she wanted to walk around the TARDIS for a bit, and get back to working on her bike, which would be easier on her own. "Nice talkin' to you. See you later, yeah?" It wasn't really much of a question. It was almost inevitable that they would run into each other again, especially being both of them knew the Doctor.

Rose nodded. "I...yeah. I'll see you." She watched Ace for a moment before backing out and turning toward the way out. She wasn't really sure what to think or to say-- this whole meeting was more awkward than she really cared to admit.
