Day Four
Who: Ace & Rose.
When: Afternoon
What: The companions meet.
Where: the TARDIS
Rating: G
Status: Complete

Ace sat at the edges of the resort, crouching down to let the desert sand run through her fingers as she gazed out into the distance. It seemed that there was nothing outside the ranch area, just miles of sand as far as she could see. She supposed that there still might be more, and she'd survived deserts before, but there was still plenty here to explore before venturing out that way. So the brunette rose and swung a leg over her bike, the motorcycle quickly revving to life, and shooting back off back the other way.

It was her second day here, but the previous afternoon had been a waste -- forced onto some rafting trip by 'The Planet.' It had been enjoyable enough, she'd met a few characters, but really got little in the way of answers except that everyone seemed to be brought here against their will from different times and places. After which she'd been more then keen on getting home, but not only could her bike not travel between planets, but being dragged here out of the vortex had fried a bunch of her circuits.

So this morning she'd rose at dawn (old habits), grabbed a quick breakfast, and set off to take stock of her surroundings. Equipped with her rucksack of toys and other such items always on her person, she'd rode north of the resort until hitting the desert.

She'd been at this for some time, and was nearly done covering the grounds until something caught her eye. A big, blue, wooden something. A wide grin pulled at her features, and she kicked the speed up a notch until she was parked right next to phone box. A hand rose quickly, gripping the small key hanging round her neck as she moved to the doors, pushing it into the lock and letting the doors swing open.

Ace stepped inside, her brows furrowing at the sight of the place. "He's changed the theme." She grumbled disapprovingly before continuing forward. "Hello old girl." Ace greeted, running a hand lightly over the console. Sitting down, she pulled the screen towards her, wondering how long it had been for the Doctor since they'd last met. It had been little more then a year for her, or at least, that's what she figured. It was hard to keep track when traveling through time.

"The professor has been busy hasn't he?" She would find him later. While she was here she might as well fix her bike, maybe give it a bit of a boost. A few keystrokes, pulling a few cords from beneath a floor panel outside to fasten to the motorcycle, and then returning to start the diagnostic. While the TARDIS found out the extent of the trouble and fixed what it could, she set down her pack and decided to have a look around.

"You traveling with him then?" She asked, not about to tell a complete stranger what she was doing until she was sure of a few things herself. Ace did smirk a bit though as the other girl straightened up, scowling at her. Trying to be intimidating maybe? She didn't look all that threatening.

"Ace." The brunette offered, names couldn't hurt. "What should I call you, goldilocks?" The nickname thrown in just to annoy the stranger, before glancing over at the screen once more -- the diagnostic on her bike was nearly done, but she couldn't start working on it with this one hanging about.

Rose folded her arms across her chest. "Rose." What on earth? "Do you know him? You're not that girl he met- no. You don't look like a cave woman." She frowned, stepping inside and moving around the console to see what the other woman was doing. "How did you get in?"

She chuckled slightly at the mention of cave women, trying to imagine the professor in the stone age. Standing in his pullover, beating away cavemen with his umbrella -- he'd probably be fascinated with them, painting cave drawings.

"I used to travel with him." Ace said, lifting the thin chain around her neck to show Rose her TARDIS key as she sat down, hitting a few keys to stop the diagnostic, and looking at the extent of the damage -- all of which she was sure could be fixed easily enough now that the TARDIS was here.

Oh. Rose's hand came up, fingers wrapping around her own copy of the TARDIS key. "How long ago?"

God. Another Sarah Jane. Would she ever be rid of them? Probably not. She knew the Doctor had a past. She knew that he travelled with others before, but she had never really expected to keep running into so many of them.

Ace let the key fall beneath her shirt and out of sight once more. "No idea. A year, maybe a bit more, for me. Could've been ages for him." She answered. Ace had traveled with him for about seven years give or take, but that had been lifetimes ago for the Doctor -- Three lifetimes actually, but the brunette had yet to be informed of this. For all she knew this Rose could still be traveling with her Doctor.

She looked Rose over, wondering how long she'd been doing this. "When'd you meet him?" Ace asked as she crouched down to dig through her rucksack, pulling out a number of things (mostly weapons) before retrieving a small case of basic tools, and going back outside. She expected that the younger woman would follow while she sat on the bike and popped open the top of what should have been the fuel tank which instead held a number of wires.

Knowing now that the girl was the Doctor's new companion made her interested. Ace had always been protective of the Time Lord, and wanted to know that Rose could watch his back.

"About a year," Rose replied. "Well. A little more." She frowned again, tilting her head as she watched the other woman. She moved over, leaning against the door frame of the TARDIS as she watched her move to the bike. "How long did you two travel together?"

"Seven years or so. Left for about three years to fight in the war, then joined up with him again for a bit." She pulled out a small board, disconnecting a few wires and looking the burnt out bit of technology over curiously. Hopefully her lab in the TARDIS was still in tact. It had been ages since she'd used it...

Rose nodded, folding her arms across her chest. Seven years. That..was a long time. And again, the Doctor had never mentioned this woman. She gave a soft sigh, completely unsure of how to respond or what else to say.

She wasn't really surprised that apparently the professor hadn't mentioned her. He never really talked about his old companions, she only knew about a few because she'd met them. "How'd you meet then?" Ace asked, motioning for Rose to follow again as she strode back into the TARDIS, clearly knowing her way around.

Her lab was still open, clean as ever, with some of her things still lying around as if she'd been here only yesterday. "I met him looking for dragons in ice world."

"He saved me," she replied, following Ace back into the TARDIS and frowning as they entered a lab of some sort. Rose hadn't seen this one before. "There were autons in London, and they were chasing me through the store I was working at."

"You in love with him yet?" She asked, brow quirked slightly as she turned to look at Rose. Ace knew it was hard not to love the Time Lord, and that wasn't to say she didn't love him as well. He was like the white knight little girls dream of; sweeps in, saves your life, he's brilliant and amazing, shows you things you never could have imagined -- And Rose was young, been with him just a year. A year was nothing for a time lord, she still probably knew so little. Not that Ace presumed to know everything, but she'd had more experience.
