Day 23 - Ice Skating
Who: Giselle, Alex, Haruka, and Zuko
What: Ice Skating Group Activity
When: Late Afternoon
Where: Lake
Rating: PG, maybe PG-13
Status: Incomplete

Yesterday's experience in the snow had been more fun than she'd expected from the cold white fluff. So, when she woke this morning, her blue eyes twinkled with the ideas that ran about in her head of possibilities for today. But, before se could get anything solidified in her mind, she heard the faint rustling of paper outside her door. The sound was familiar and her mind flashed back to a day about two and a half weeks prior when she'd been forced into an activity. It had been bowling then.

She pulled a silken pink robe onto her form and opened the door to find an envelope had been taped there. She peeled it from the door and shut it again, leaning against it as she opened it and glanced inside to pull out the small sheet of paper. She held it up, reading to herself as her lips moved lightly. Go to the frozen lake. You will be ice skating. This is mandatory. If you do not go a golem will find you and take you there. Do not leave until the activities are finished, or a golem will take you back.

Ice skating? She mused on this, wondering what it could be exactly as she got into the shower and then went to get breakfast. After breakfast she found a book of romantic short stories in the library and took it back to her room to read. She read for the majority of the morning and the time passed quickly. Soon it was time for lunch. She ate lunch and when she discovered she needed to get going, she dressed herself in an outfit similar to the one she'd worn the day before. It was baby blue this time, though.

She trudged through the snow toward the lake. The planet seemed to have replenished the snow over night. She knew that with all the people who had been out in it yesterday, it shouldn't have looked this pristine. It really was breathtaking. She smiled faintly as she came up to the lake. A golem was standing there with four pair of ice skates and a bench had been placed near the edge of the lake. She accepted the pair of skates presented to her, and sat down on the bench to change her shoes. She had no idea how to ice skate, but hopefully those who were going to be doing this with her would be able to show her.

When he woke up, he could smell the hot food that was already waiting for him, and felt his stomach rumble appreciatively. But even before he could roll out of bed, the moments of the previous night came crashing down on him like a tsunami caused by the very water bender that had made last night so difficult. He winced a little as her hateful words still burned into him, about how he'd just been after an easy lay. As he slowly rose, he reached up to his face and touched the scarred skin there, half reminding himself that it was still there. He'd not felt insecure about it in some time, but... Katara had caught him off guard. Maybe he just looked like someone who would do that... Zuko had known what people had thought about him when he was wandering the Earth Kingdom, that he'd been some sort of freak... he'd thought that maybe he'd escaped it... but...

Shaking his head he took a look at the food, but despite the light growl of his stomach he didn't really feel like eating at all. Thinking about it though, Zuko knew well enough from his years of training to know that he couldn't do it on an empty stomach. So in silence the Fire Lord forced down the food that normally would have tasted wonderful, it could have been sand now for all the enjoyment it gave him. Still, his body felt stronger after injesting it, which had been the point. Taking a moment to stretch, he stared across his room. It'd changed, since he'd come back that night with Katara. Gone were the cold walls of the ship, and now he was in the imperial palace. Outside of one of his doors there was a wide open stone terrace on which he could practice his fire bending techniques. It was good, too, because he had no intention of setting a single step outside of his room today. In fact he was half tempted to try to bar the door with something.

As he walked past it though, he noticed the letter down at the ground in front of it. Pausing he picked it up, reading it, and shook his head. Opening the door he crumpled it up and tossed it roughly into the hallway, slamming his door shut once again. Fat chance he was going to some stupid feel good group gathering. It was taking all of his willpower at this point to not go out and try to torch the forests in the hopes that whatever this crazy 'Planet' was would think him not worth the effort to hold on to and just toss him back to his own world. Leave Katara and the Earth bender here to rot, for all he cared. No, that wasn't true, he didn't want to escape and not find a way to get them all back... as a matter of fact...

Zuko frowned as a memory surfaced about why... why he'd been out in the earth kingdom in the first place... with his father. It'd not been for his mother, after all. Gritting his teeth a little, he shook his head and walked away from the door. Yeah, he'd not be leaving this place today.

Hours later, Giselle would hear someone shouting angrily and see in the sky bursts of fire flying this way and that, almost like a fire works display, or perhaps some sort of volcano. It was pretty, but perhaps a bit frightening for someone who'd never seen it before. And a few momenets later, there would come the angry, annoyed, frustrated sounding voice that accompanied the fireworks display, as a golem appeared to be trudging along, holding something in his arms, like a little baby cradled close to his chest. Except, it wasn't a baby, it was a full grown man, who seemed almost to be having the sort of tantrum a baby might have. Fire was shooting from his hands and feet and now again at his mout, at the Golem, who was ignoring it.

"Put me down! I'm the Fire Lord!" Zuko said, throwing out his title as a last ditch attempt to try to dissuade the automaton that was carrying him. "I don't care about your stupid get together... now let me goOOO" With a heave the man was tossed into a large snow bank, which started to melt out of the heat of the fire benders anger as he stared at the golem with a look that perhaps might have killed someone weaker.

Standing up and brushing the snow off of himself, he turned and looked at Giselle as if she were somehow in control of the golems that had summoned him, giving her a dark glare as he narrowed his eyes at her. "What are YOU looking at, Peasant?" he snapped at her, and then turned and started walking before she could even reply to him, storming off, away from the lake. He'd be damned if some stupid walking chunk of rock was going to force him to spend his day how he didn't want to...

A few moments later though, Giselle would hear a loud explosion coming from the distance Zuko had headed off to, and a few moments after that, a golem, slightly charred from fire came walking towards her, dragging an angry but silent Zuko behind him, holding him by the scruff of his collar, so his feet were dragging behind him. As the golem let him go, Zuko just stayed in the snow with his arms crossed.

"This is stupid."

Haruka had been looking forward to spending the afternoon with her Michiru - perhaps playing a little music, perhaps playing in the snow. She hadn't expected to find a note taped to the door when she'd slipped out to breakfast that morning. Nor had she expected the note to essentially force her to go ice skating. She had read the note with some amusement and a little disdain. Now the Planet was telling them how to have fun? Enjoy or else? It clearly didn't understand how humans of any sort worked.

Still, Haruka didn't want to test the Planet's patience. She hadn't been punished for destroying that little building on the roof when she'd gone after Michiru a few days earlier - perhaps this was part of her penance. Refusing to go might make it angry, and she didn't want those golem things to frog-march her down, or worse, carry her down to the lake. So, she took her usual morning run, enjoying the feeling of running outdoors in the snow, and after a nice big salad for lunch, wandered down to the lake, clad in a sleek dark blue snow suit.

Ice skating wasn't her favorite past time, but she enjoyed it well enough. From what little she could remember about her past, she'd enjoyed it as the Princess of Uranus during the Silver Millennium as well. Ice skating had been the most popular sport on the Moon, and she'd been very good. Not as good as the Moon Princess, but she and the Princess of Jupiter had entered into a friendly rivalry over who was the second best skater at court.

As she approached the lake, Haruka could see two figures, presumably the others involved in this forced fun. The young man looked very angry about something, and the young woman...reminded Haruka rather forcefully of Usagi, for reasons she couldn't place. They looked nothing alike. The ever-present golems also stood nearby, one holding pairs of skates, and another almost guarding the angry young man. She raised a hand in greeting as she approached. There was no sense in being rude or upset at her fellow "guests" after all. "Everyone know how to skate?" she asked as she stepped up to them.

Giselle's eyes widened with the fire display in the sky. Even worse than watching it in the sky far from her was that is appeared to be approaching at an alarming rate. What could it be? Why was it heading in her direction. She looked down at her now skate encased feet and wondered how she would get away with them on. She would just have to remove them quickly and make a mad dash for it.

Not a moment later a golem approached with a very ardent young man yelling at the top of his lungs. Was the fire coming out of his hands and feet... and his mouth? Was he some sort of dragon in human form? What had he said he was? The Fire Lord? Well, whatever he was, he was frightening. Although, not so frightening once he was tossed into the snow bank. That was almost funny, and her lips quirked up in a partial smile, though she hid it behind a gloved hand.

The smile immediately left her face when he rounded on her and shouted. She didn't even have time to respond before he was stalking off and she half hoped the golem would let him be. But, as she knew the rule dictated, a smoking golem brought the young man back. She watched him sulk for a moment before she realized that someone else had approached.

She smiled at the golden haired woman and stood up. "I've never skated before. Have you?" She approached and stuck her hand out. "Hello! I'm Giselle." She was happy that at least there was one friendly looking face in this group. She didn't know what she would have done if she'd been forced to skate with Zuko alone.
