Jack let himself back into the building that had been his home for more than two weeks, and what was now beginning to look like it would be his home for a great deal longer than that.
It was, he told himself, as he walked up the stairs, completely ridiculous to be even remotely annoyed at Ianto for not having been in when he’d knocked on his door earlier that morning. Ianto was his own man, and while they where together after a fashion, he could hardly expect Ianto to be in and waiting for him all the time.
He’d meant to call in on Ianto the previous evening, but by the time that he’d got back to his room it had been the early hours of the morning and he hadn’t thought it fair to wake Ianto.
Jack hadn’t meant to be out so long, he’d just meant to go for a walk, something to clear his head a little and get things in perspective. To remind himself that while he didn’t currently have the means to leave the planet, he was far from trapped. Falling asleep in the warm afternoon sunshine and sleeping until dark hadn’t been part of what he’d planned. Neither had the walking in circles for nearly an hour while he tried to get home.
After Ianto hadn’t opened his door when Jack had knocked to see if he wanted breakfast with him, he’d spent the morning wandering, trying to find something to catch and hold his attention, a task at which Jack had failed. After coming to the conclusion that he was either looking in the wrong place or there was truly little of interest going on. He’d made his way back to the accommodation to ask Ianto if he wanted any lunch.
When Ianto still hadn’t answered Jack had gone to down to the pool, trying not to be annoyed at the fact that Ianto had obvious gone off somewhere without him or was just avoiding him. He’d flirted a bit with the men and women there, but eventually he’d tired of it and decided that he’d go back to his room.
Jack was just about to let himself into his own room when he glanced down the corridor and saw a familiar figure standing outside the door to Ianto’s rooms.
“Been somewhere nice?” Jack called out as he walked over to Ianto. It was a little more irritable than he’d intended it to be, but honestly if Ianto was just going to go off for the day couldn’t he have left a note or something?
Jack knew that he had absolutely no ground to stand on regards to running off without leaving a note, however that wasn’t something that was foremost in his mind at that moment.
