Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:complete, day 17, ianto jones, kidnapping, michiru kaioh, sailor neptune, severus snape

Who: Michiru, Ianto, Snape (posting order?)
Where: Maintenance Room, on the roof
When: Early Morning
What: Kidnapees are not happy here.
Rating: PG-13ish?
Status: Complete

Michiru woke up with her entire body aching. She almost felt worse than she had when she'd arrived on the Planet, and that was after dying. Her head was pounding and her mouth was painfully dry. And it was dark. As consciousness slowly returned to her, she realized she couldn't move right. She shifted and struggled a bit before realizing that someone had tied her up. Realizing that made the memories of the previous evening flood back in a rush. No. This could not be happening. She was a Sailor senshi, a warrior, not some victim to be trussed up and thrown in a dark room for who knows what purpose. Why oh, why had she not thought to bring her communicator at least? Then she'd have an angry Haruka here in less time it took to think. But no, she'd let this damn Planet's peaceful atmosphere get her guard down and now she was paying the price.

She was about to snarl out a curse or two when she heard someone else moving. "Hello?" she asked, trying hard to keep the bitterness out of her voice. If there were other victims, she shouldn't be mad at them. "Is there someone else here?" There was a very thin line of light coming from around the probably locked door, but it wasn't enough to see anything except a couple of dark shapes that might or might not be other people.

"No need," Ianto said triumphantly, holding up his newly freed hands. Finally. He brushed the dangling rope off his left wrist and leaned down to untie his legs. "Just give me a moment and I'll untie you both as well." Not for the first time, Ianto was grateful to Jack for those... extra study sessions.

Once he had his legs untied, he moved over to Michiru, being a gentlemen. Ladies first and all that. He reached out a hand blindly and felt around for her arm. When he touched it, he went to work getting her free. "Who is Haruka?" he asked.

Snape had managed to back himself into a wall as featureless as the cold floor, when Ianto freed himself. Snape was surprised, but then he was mostly irritated by the smug way the other man flaunted his ability and then offered to humiliate the others by showing them how helpless they both were without him. It was galling, but the wizard swallowed his anger and waited for the other man to untie him. Though he was flush with embarrassment, having his hands free would make him more effective.

"How handy of you, sir, to have freed yourself so nimbly. One wonders where you might have picked up such... talents. Miss Kaioh, I'm sure your Haruka is well-intentioned, but there is no reason to believe she has any idea where we are. Perhaps it would be better to follow this gentleman's resourceful example and seek to free ourselves rather than await liberation from without."

As much as she was loath to admit it, Michiru was very glad Ianto had freed himself and had come over to untie her bonds as well. Having her wrists and feet bound like this reminded her too much of a couple of other incidents that she would rather forget.

"Haruka is..." she started in answer to Ianto's question. Then she stopped. She didn't talk about her relationship with the blond much, even with her fellow senshi. They'd assumed of course, and correctly, but it wasn't something she went around announcing. She fell back on an old answer. "Haruka is my partner" she said simply, well aware that the word could be interpreted several ways.

She felt the rope slide off her wrists and shook her arms, rubbing at where the rope had chafed her skin.
"Thank you Jones-san" she said as he undid her ankles as well. She shot Snape a sharp look, her mouth pressed into a thin line. Not that he was likely to be able to see in the darkness, but that wasn't the point.

"The resort is only so large sir" she said with deliberate cold formality. "I do not suggest we sit idly by of course, but unless you have a brilliant plan for getting out of here, I take comfort in knowing that rescue will come"

"In my job, it's a very useful skill to have. I'm a... private investigator of sorts," he explained, not feeling the need to tell them that he chased aliens for a living.

Ianto flicked a glance up at Michiru while untying her. He smiled slightly for a moment, catching the pause. He figured she meant partner in the way he and Jack were partners. They worked together and that was something but they were also something more.

Once Michiru was free, Ianto moved over to Snape. It only took about a minute for him to free the man. "There you are, sir," he said politely, getting to his feet.

He made his way over to the door, using the thin beam of light coming from around it to guide his way. He didn't think it would be open but it never hurt to try. Ianto tried the handle. The door didn't budge. He tried forcing it open but that didn't do anything either. He stepped back with a sigh. "Of course, it's locked."

Snape rubbed his wrists as he got carefully to his feet. He was not certain how long he had been down on the floor, and he did not completely trust his legs right away. Standing did not make him better able to see, but having his hands free certainly made him feel more capable. Though Michiru was right -- the resort was only so big -- he was still not prepared to wait for her partner to find them. It was time for him to get them out of there.

"Of course it's locked. Don't worry. I'll have us out of here in mere moments. With respect to your partner, Miss Kaioh, I don't intend to wait to be found. Move, Mr. Jones."

Standing confidently before the door, Snape reached into his pocket for his wand, ready to blast the door down with magical force, only to discover that his pocket was empty. His wand was nowhere to be found.

"Oh...! No!"

Michiru stood up slowly, feeling each and ever muscle twinge as she did so. An unexpected fight followed by who knows how long passed out on a concrete floor had left her far stiffer than she liked. And it was doing nothing for her mood, already sour from the whole kidnapping experience. So it wasn't really a surprise that Snape's rather condescending attitude was rubbing her the wrong way. Still, if her could indeed get them out of here, she wouldn't complain.

Then he came up empty and she was forced to stifle a laugh.
"What were you planning on doing good sir?" her tone laced with a healthy dose of sarcasm. "Magic the door open?"

Ianto moved away from the door, watching Snape. He must have had something that could help them to get out... but when he cried out, Ianto realized he must not have whatever it was anymore.

"There's got to be someway to get that door open." If he'd had his mobile on him, perhaps he could have called Jack... but he'd been caught off guard and didn't have anything useful on him. He looked around, trying to pick out something that they could use but it was difficult to see in the dim light.

Ianto felt bruises from when the woman had dragged him down the stairs but that wasn't going to stop him. He'd suffered through worse working for Torchwood before and a few bruises weren't going to stop him.

Snape closed his eyes momentarily, counting slowly before he spoke. He was completely exasperated at the absence of his wand, and really needed a moment to get his rage under control. Michiru's sarcasm caused his skin to prickle, but he contained himself, mostly. It wouldn't do to antagonize his co-abductees, not while his wand was missing.

"Yes, Miss Kaioh, indeed I did plan to magic the door open. And I would have accomplished it by now, except for the fact that my wand appears to be missing. You may doubt my abilities, if you wish, but it is clear our captor does not. It is a pity that none of us know the identity of this catsuited woman. Such knowledge might help us know whether or not she can make use of such a powerful item."

Snape stood aside, making room for the other two to make an attempt at opening the door.

Michiru hadn't expected the man to actually have been trying to use magic. Though she didn't really believe in magic in the traditional 'wand and staff' sense, she knew better than to completely discount it. Even if the man professing to have it was a bit of a jerk.

"She had information about us" she said, a bit reluctantly. "She knew to take your wand from you, my henshin wand from me... Anything from you, sir?" she asked, addressing Ianto. She moved to the door, her hand running up and down both edges. There was a door handle, but it didn't budge. "I don't suppose either of you can pick locks?" she asked

Ianto turned back to the two of them, shaking his head. "I didn't have anything useful on me at the time. I could try and pick the lock but I'm not seeing anything here that would be of help in doing so. We could try and force it open with something, somehow..."

Ianto let out a sigh, wishing that the team were around to help him out. He wondered how long he'd been gone, if Jack was looking for him.

Snape still wasn't over not having his wand, but he closed his eyes, grit his teeth, and tried to think of another way to get past the door. He was interested in Michiru's comment about her own wand. He had never heard of 'henshin', but he didn't know much about Japanese magic. He also didn't know much about lockpicking.

"I wonder where our captor is. Now that we're all awake, you would think she would want to make a statement to us. Oh, well, aside from ourselves, is there anything else in here that we can use to force the door, or perhaps smash the handle? If nothing else, banging may attract the attention of others."

In particular, Snape thought of his Slayer, Faith. Surely she would have noticed by now the absence of her Watcher. They had been training nearly every day. He imagined her strength would be enough to damage this door.

"I suppose picking locks with a hairpin is one of those urban myths?" Michiru said with a sigh. She doubted this lock would be that simple. She looked at the door again and pressed her ear to it.

"I think there's someone outside" she said, backing away slightly before banging on the door twice. Even if it was their captor, if she opened the door to come in and gloat, maybe they could rush out and escape. She sighed again and backed away from the door. She knew she shouldn't be letting herself get so depressed. After all, she'd been in far worse situations and come out okay. She looked at her fellow captives, suddenly feeling very young. She was used to being one of the older, more mature ones in these kind of situations. Technically Usagi and her friends were only months younger than her and Haruka, but they always felt much younger. But here, trapped in this small, dark room with two full adults, Michiru was all too aware of how young she felt.

Ianto shrugged. "Never tried it myself but it probably wouldn't hurt to try."

He stood back aways, giving Michiru some room. When she said she thought someone was on the other side of the door, he moved quickly to stand at the side of the door, almost pressing himself up against the wall as training kicked in. It almost eerily reminded him of being inside that underground cell with Tosh when they'd been kidnapped by cannibals... Hopefully there weren't any dead and/or chopped up bodies in this place. One of the rules was no killing, thank god.

Snape sneered as the other two fumbled with the idea of picking the room's lock. He would let them realize, as he did, that they did not have their usual resources and that all of them were embarrassingly helpless.

When Michiru heard something outside, however, he focused on the real situation and forgot his disdain. He didn't hear anything at first, but that quickly changed when he heard the sound of a window smashing in the adjacent room, and a familiar voice calling his name.
